Section Linking

I can't figure out section linking. For the Fun Facts section of this email, I'm trying to link to the easter eggs section of "stunt double". Here are several ways to do it, but none of them work:

It should be this: stunt double#Easter Eggs

I have no idea. I think I'm pretty sure the underbar doesn't matter. I can't make anything out from this either. What could it be? -- Tom 19:54, 27 Jul 2004 (MST)

Yup, still no idea. I thought maybe it had something to do with the spaces, but I guess it doesn't. Let's try something else...

Okay, something must be wrong with our install. Those should work. It seems to not be recognizing the "#". -- Tom 07:22, 28 Jul 2004 (MST)

Well, you remember all my anchors on my old wikipage, right? When I copied it to wikipedia, it did the same thing...maybe there's just something we're not doing right? -- AgentSeethroo 15:12, 19 Aug 2004 (MST)

I don't know what it is. As Tom said, they should work. - furrykef 13:30, 24 Aug 2004 (MST)

I don't know the answer, but a difference is that the 2nd line gives a page with # in it, while the 4th does not. The 1st line works and can be used as workaround.--patrick 00:16, 21 Sep 2004 (MST)

IT WORKS!! --JoeyDay 13:50, 24 Nov 2004 (MST)
Indeed it does! Though it is important to note that case still matters. As expected, I suppose. -- Tom 16:53, 24 Nov 2004 (MST)

Fun fact removal

  • When Strong Bad said that he's in a car, this is reference to the 101st e-mail when he said that he has never been in a car. If there's a dangeresque 2, then Dangeresque 1 was filmed before the stunt double e-mail, which was before Strong Bad claimed that he was never in a car before. Therefore, Strong Bad was lying.

...because it was never made clear that Strong Bad owns the car: he was simply using it as a prop.

  • I always thought that Dangeresque 1 was just thrown together as an excuse for not having Dangeresque 3. After all, the sign at the beginning says "Dangeresque 1" rather than simply "Dangeresque", and it also says "Not in 3D" which would make no sense if it was made before Strong Bad's announcement that D3 would be in 3D. Neva Blink

That fun fact about Strong Bad never blinking with his sunglasses on...uh...you may not have noticed, but Strong Bad never blinks as it is..ever. In fact, I once emailed him asking him why I've never seen him with his eyes closed. - Miss Free Country USA

Explanation needed? (DECLINED)

The subtitle for Dangeresque 1, "Dangeresque, too?" explains why the subtitle for Dangeresque 2 was "This time, it's not Dangeresque 1"

Constantinople? (Declined)

The fact that The King of Town was hiding in Istanbul may be a nod to They Might Be Giants, who had a hit in 1990 called "Istanbul (Not Constantinople)" and have collaborated with TBC on several occasions.

  • Decline. Istanbul is often used in the movies as a dangerous and exotic locale. Any resemblance to a TMBG song, living or dead, is purely coincidental. -- tomstiff 15:23, 15 Apr 2005 (UTC)
  • Today's forecast is total crap. When will you people learn the difference between references and coincidences? Rudeboy87 20:37, 15 Apr 2005 (UTC)
  • "May be"...ugh. Decline Donny vs Universe
  • Accept. This fact wasn't just added to the page yesterday; it's been there for nine months. It's listed in the history as far back as you can go. Thousands of visitors to the page have already seen it and have tacitly given it their approval. The comments above make it sound like there's no chance that TBC chose Istanbul intentionally, but let me put it in context: in the few weeks leading up to this email, there were several Puppet Jams added to the site. Just a few weeks after the email, Experimental Film was released (so, being a song, it was likely already in the works at the time of the email). And you're telling me they didn't have TMBG on the brain? I don't think so. Too coincidental. — It's dot com 03:41, 16 Apr 2005 (UTC)
    • Second Lucres 17:31, 18 Apr 2005 (UTC)
    • I think not. Being on a page for a long time does not make a fact fun. It is a coincidence, 'nuff said. Rudeboy87 19:50, 18 Apr 2005 (UTC)
  • Accept. What It's dot com said. Believe me, if you listen to TMGB for too long, it's hard to think of Istanbul without mentally adding "...not Constantinople..." Aurora the Homestar Coder 17:37, 16 Apr 2005 (UTC)
  • Decline. Or maybe Istanbul is just a cool-sounding place and TBC weren't making a nod to TMBG. →evin290 19:33, 17 Apr 2005 (UTC)
  • "I dunno about you The Ugly One, but I say this one should be accepted!" I really think so though. I agree with everybody who said it should be accepted. I've read over this debate, and do think that that whole thing's a TMBG refrence.--MrsCommanderson 21:48, 17 Apr 2005 (UTC)
  • Decline If, someday, a birdhouse shows up in a cartoon, will that be a reference to that birdhouse song? --rsl12 00:49, 18 Apr 2005 (UTC)
    • That's beside the point (although "birdhouse" is not a word that most people use every day). Just about everybody familiar with TMBG knows their song "Istanbul (Not Constantinople)" and identifies one with the other. I again refer you to the context of last summer (see my comments above), and considering that, I really don't think this fact is a stretch. — It's dot com 03:16, 18 Apr 2005 (UTC)
    • Comment Well, I never gave this thing any approval, tacit or otherwise. I've patrolled this page many times and everytime I read this "fact" I wrinkled my nose. I avoided STUFF-ing it because (1) unless I'm in the right mood it's tiresome and tedious and (b) I was afraid to expose my lack of hepitude. Hep or not, I still maintain this fact is based on the purest of speculation. -- tomstiff 13:31, 18 Apr 2005 (UTC)
    • Comment The Istanbul song is NOT originally TMBG. My google search says it was written in 1953, and it was reasonably popular before TMBG came along.
    • Comment. He comes the link! Istanbul (Not Constantinople). Artists: The Four Lads ... peak Billboard position # 10 in 1953 ... Words by Jimmy Kennedy and Music by Nat Simon -- tomstiff 20:01, 19 Apr 2005 (UTC)
      • The question isn't whether TMBG wrote the song (a lot of cover versions of songs are as popular as or more popular than their original versions, so this too is beside the point), but whether Istanbul is a reasonable reference to TMBG, and if so whether TBC might reasonably be referencing them by choosing Istanbul. On close calls like this, where the two parties have a known relationship and were demonstrably collaborating at the time, is the standard of proof really "beyond a reasonable doubt," or would a "preponderance of the evidence" standard apply? — It's dot com 21:08, 19 Apr 2005 (UTC)
      • Call me Cletus if'n ya want, but, a single word on a placard does not a reference make! Now, if the sign had Constantinople crossed out with Istanbul written below it, well ... then we're talking reference! -- tomstiff 13:21, 20 Apr 2005 (UTC)
        • Aha! Now that's an argument that addresses the heart of the issue. Especially the "crossed out" part. Good prize! I'm not going to officially downgrade my vote above to neutral ('cause I don't think it will matter anyway), but, off the record, my support for including this fact is dwindling (although not gone). — It's dot com 14:22, 20 Apr 2005 (UTC)
  • Leaning towards decline. It may have been a SLIGHT reference, but mainly just because it's a weird sounding, yet somewhat well-known place. Hey, Istanbul was a big part of my Geography test.TakuaKaita600 17:05, 24 Apr 2005 (UTC)

All right for a montage

The end credit photo montage is similar to the one Strong Bad created in montage.

People's Court

As he drives, Strong Bad hums "The Theme From Dangeresque," which is actually "The theme From The People's Court".

So holdable a gun

The line, "Here comes little email with a gun in his hand," is an exact mimic of the line "Here comes little THORAX with a gun in his hand," found on this Thoraxcorp.com page.

Goof?

The Homestar Runner had no trouble remembering his lines in Dangeresque 3, however he couldn't remember them in "First Time Here?" or in "Fluffy Puff Commercial." Should this be added to the Wiki page for this email?

  • There is no proof that Homestar got his lines perfectly. FTH and FPC are pretty much just blooper reels. Dangeresque is a true movie, so they would re-shoot until he got it right, and then use 'that' shot. --homestar3.14 18:23, 10 May 2005 (UTC)
    • However, if Homestar couldn't get his lines perfectly, Strong Bad would have kicked him off the set and recast someone else as Dangeresque Too. Strong Bad was fed up with Homestar forgetting his lines in "First Time Here" and forcefully took over. Considering Dangeresque 1 was comprised of several scenes instead of just a short announcement, Strong Bad would most certainly not brook Homestar's ineptitude.
    • I believe he was improv-ing. His speech seemed a bit more confident than regular Homestar-babble. He was uncharacteristically focused and serious during this film. Although he responded to the word "Dangeresque" and laughed cheesily at the same times as SB did those things, the two of them could have been "on the same page" and willingly cooperating for the short time of the email. I think it's happened before. If he was making it up on the spot, he wouldn't have lines to memorize.

I think it should be added to show one extreme of Homestar's personality.

"First Timer Here?" and "Fluffy Puff Commercial" were both made a while ago. Homestar's memory and skill to remember information could have increased over this time period. Teh_Frossty_One

Really late fun fact

I have a hunch that SB imitating the phone ring juuust might be a reference to the extra-low-budget scifi film Monster-a-Go-Go (which the IMDB currently ranks as the worst film ever). You see, due to the low budget and the director not being a very good director, a guy offscreen imitated the phone ringing. It's probably a bit of a stretch, though. This is really late because I discovered the wiki in the time of the NSMC vandal. Well, right before that actually, but I still didn't know that much about H*R. --I'll get a username soon, but for now my name is... um... Bob. I don't have much imagination. 69.171.44.42

Here comes little debate with a gun in its hands

The line, "Here comes little email with a gun in his hand," is an exact mimic of the line "Here comes little THORAX with a gun in his hand," found on Thoraxcorp.com's intern page. This line could also be reference to the song "Little Man With a Gun in His Hand" by The Minutemen, one of Matt Chapman's favorite bands.

"Could be." I submit that the part of this fact relating to Thorax is an Inside Ref., the "could be" is a ref to Real-World. Discuss. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 04:14, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

Commentary Fast Forward?

Is it worth putting in here that Mike's comment about this being the only time we see the top of Bubs' would later be incorrect, after the appearance in retirement?

Authorship of the theme

I believe that Larry said on the concert that alright 4 2nite was written by Limozeen. I guess that should be added to this article.
