Eh! Steve returns in e-mail 84, kids' book .

  • Decline. Not fun, and it definitely doesn't belong in "trivia." It's like saying that as a fun fact for homsar (the email) that homsar returns in interview. That's not fun. Heck no at all. →evin290 10:58, 13 Feb 2005 (MST)
  • Decline - Good example of how NOT to do forward referencing. If it was a reference that was expanded upon later to create another thing entirely (Homestar calling Strong Bad "Stinkoman" in island spawning Stinkoman 20X6), that would be acceptable. But to mention that a character showed up in another cartoon like this doesn't really work; THIS is redundant. I might as well go to Marshmellow's Last Stand and say "Strong Bad returns in A Jumping Jack Contest and eventually gets his own e-mail segment", if this were to go through. --Shadow Hog 11:24, 13 Feb 2005 (MST)

Sealab 2021 (Declined)

"I'm gonna get you, Eh! Steve!" is a possible reference to an episode of the cartoon "Sealab 2021" called "Waking Quinn," in which a shark yells "I'm gonna get you Stinky Pete!" about seven minutes into the episode.

  • Major Decline It's likely that the Bros. Chaps watch Sealab, since they did a song for it. However, this reference is a huge stretch. "I'll get you (whoever) if it's the last thing I do!" is a common cliché phrase for villains. Sealab and this email were referencing the same general phenomenon.   • Second Listen, people, I don't know if you've figured this out yet, but just because you hear something in a movie then on something else doesn't automatically mean it's a reference, unless the movie says something that hasn't been said before. Like, if Strong Bad says "a little bit of the old ultraviolence", That would be a reference to A Clockwork Orange since that was basically the first popular movie to say that, but what if he said a phrase that has been used for decades and just happened to be in some popular movie, that doesn't make it a reference, okay? Hey! Steve!

I really think Eh! Steve says "Hey! Steve" in the Powered by The Cheat cartoon. I think this is plausible considering The Cheat's poor track record in keeping things absolutely correct in his cartoons. I don't want to change the transcript yet, because that would start an edit war, so if you all can listen carefully to Eh! Steve's line a couple of times, I would appreciate your input. The only difference I hear is that it sounds more pouty, more like "Ehhhh...steve..." (could I change the transcript to note that difference?) KKyuubi 19:13, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

Space Harrier II Reference?

Meh, all it really has in common is the checkerboarded floor, which could easily be a coincidence, or even a reference to a different game (many games have checkerboarded floors and that perspective – it's much easier to make it animate with palette shifting...). --phlip TC 23:29, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

Split

I think this page should be split into two pages – one for the email, and one for the PbTC part available from the Toons menu. The page is a bit confusing as it reads now, and it's inconsistent next to comic and tgs1, which have their own pages (and would be much more confusing if they were merged together like this page).
