This may be a TTATOT, but I'll propose it anyway: the bizarre list of backstage demands made by Limozeen echoes that of Van Halen, who somewhat famously would demand a bowl of M&M's in their dressing room with all the green ones individually discarded.  (Source: snopes.com)  [[User:TJDevil02|TJDevil02]]

That was fun...

Whee! That was my first transcript! And I gotta admit... That was fun. I gotta get to bed now, good luck finishing the page, guys. Yadaman 13:23, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, me doing this subtitling is cool too. One thing, tho: I am seeing the "local viewer test subtitle" screen as sbemail174 with sbemail175 subtitles. This normal? (sbemail174's OK). I should probably get to bed soon, too. ZanderSchubert 14:08, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
No that isn't normal. In Line 5, it says sbemal174.swf instead of 175. You might want to change that. Also, if you quit working on the subtitles, please remove the {{inprgoress}}-template. You could change it to {{stub}} TCIC (Talk to me / Stuff I did) 14:23, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, I just noticed that as well... Changed, removed "Inprogress" and done up until (but excluding) the easter eggs. Night, all. ZanderSchubert 14:58, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

An eerie coincidence?

I noticed something very interesting. In best thing, the description of the alternative rock band that knocked Limozeen off the charts seems to accurately describe sloshy. Three members, glasses, short hair, no guitarist? Even though it's coincidental, does anyone think it may still deserve to be in fun facts, perhaps as a remark or something? Hagurumon 11:33, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, that does sound familiar. I say it deserves to possibly be an Inside Reference or something. Maybe a remark. Idk, I'm not good at this fun fact thing. CompGrl323 (talk · edits) 11:41, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
I think the connection's a little tenuous. All the members of sloshy have short hair, so if Limozeen had been knocked off the charts by them, Mary would have said "And they've got short hair!" rather than "And the drummer's got short hair!" It's more likely that these are just common examples of indie/alternative fashion in contrast to 80s metal fashion. -ART
Limozeen didn't say that the band kicked them off didn't have a guitarist, they just didn't bother mentioning him, probably because he wasn't doing anything as unmetal as the rest of the band.
It never said in the email that there was no guitarist, just no lead guitarist.
One of the guys in best thing says "But their bassist is a girl!" There's no girl in sloshy. 24.196.3.70 18:39, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
I think I have the answer. Strong Bad enquired about the bassist's sunglasses, which makes it so that sloshy has a bassist. Obviously, they have a singer, and Strong Bad told Homestar about stringing Christmas lights around their bass drum, so they obviously have a drummer, which brings the grand total to 3! Buy all play sets and toys!

With the Cheat Commandos toys showing up, along with the Troop Transport, again in this short, do we do anything beyond just mentioning them here in the transcript and references? I'm sorta surprised that the individual accessories (like the Troop Transport) don't at least have images with them. wbwolf (t | ed) 14:48, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

Alternative

Could sloshy be an alternative band? Awexome 16:59, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

I was led to believe as such. 76.99.103.184 17:10, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
I think sloshy's an emo group. --ISlayedTheKerrek 22:50, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
Gloomcore. 76.200.149.76 22:51, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
No, it's definitely alternative rock. Look at the facts:
  1. No costumes.
  2. Short hair.
  3. A logo that's not jaggedy or drippety at all.
  4. Songs that aren't about girls/Los Angeles/good times ect.
  5. Electric guitar solos.
  6. Strange band name.
  7. Not depressing and/or gloomy like emo or gloomcore.
Furthermore, I kept comparing sloshy to They Might Be Giants and Muse (my favourite band) throughout the entire email. – The Chort 11:51, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
I dunno... they seemed like a mix between the Meat Puppets and The Strokes to me... Jaypolka 03:18, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
I thought of Pavement when I heard the song.
It's alternative. See this. Orange Star - T - C

Email song?

I can't shake the feeling that the email song is a reference to some metal song. My first guess was Black Sabbath's 'Paranoid,' but that's not it. Any ideas, or am I just insane? 76.99.103.184 17:12, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

  • Howbout The Kinks (Paranoia Will Destroyya). Not metal. In short, TTATOT. 76.200.149.76 22:52, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

The one band I couldn't help but think of when they played "don't even care" was 3rd Eye Blind (Specifically during their first self-titled album.) Just the way the tune kind of reminds me of the way the lead singer from 3EB sings for some of the songs like "hows it gonna be" --Foolster41 06:51, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

Marble Craze

The music from the game Strong Bad/Sad are playing is from Marble Craze and can be heard here: http://qotile.net/audio/marble_music.mp3 --74.110.104.75 18:01, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

Not a "special" email?

So I guess this email #175 is not a "special" email, in the spirits of emails 50, 100, & 150? I suppose we can all agree that "25th anniversary" emails (25 integrals ending in -25 and -75) have not been given special treatment that agknowledge their number. --Compdude

Yeah, the 25s haven't been as special (except maybe rock opera). super powers was kind of special-like, revealing superpowers, but funny... stunk out loud. --DorianGray 20:08, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

Tex-mex?

I know it was me that wrote the transcript... But the 'tex-mex' bit was mostly a guess, and now that I think about it, it didn't really sound like tex-mex... it was sorta like... tech-mesh. or tetrex.. Yadaman 04:41, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

Tex-Mex is what I heard.--Antisexy 04:45, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
It is tex-mex. don't argue with me, i've been on the internets -JamesDean 13:38, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

Strong Bad Shirt

Has this been enough occasions of Strong Bad wearing a shirt to deserve its own page, or should it just be a fun fact? Itama 04:55, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

We've got Strong Bad Other Costumes. Is that what you meant? Loafing 04:59, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

I was kinda wondering that myself.--Antisexy 05:00, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

I think that would be a good page: "Although strong bad usually goes shirtless, there has been a few occasions were he is seen wearing a shirt" And then it goes on, then we can show pictures of when he's wearing shirts.--Kanjiro talk 05:04, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

Possible reference

When Strong Bad throws that record at Strong Sad and a piece gets stuck in his head, I thought it very similar to a scene in the movie Shaun of the Dead in which a record is thrown at a zombie and a very similar thing happens. Think it's enough of a reference to make the page?

I personally thought it was a reference to an episode of Family Guy when Stewie gets a piece of glass lodged in his forehead. Except he is the one that crashes into the sharp objects (a glass cabinet), not the other way around. Jimmy91 10:59, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
I agree with the Shaun of the Dead reference. I can't imagine any other reason why he'd throw a record rather than something harder at Strong Sad, like a CD case or something. It's what my mind jumped to immediately after I saw it, especially with the triangular piece lodged in Strong Sad's forehead. --Jeff J. W.(Talk·Contribs)hr.png 15:43, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
I absolutely agree; I thought of that scene from Shaun right away.~jeadly 16:14, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

New Paper change

Did anybody else notice that the bottom of the envelope on the new paper was more defined? Do we think this is a graphical mistake or is the new paper slowly gaining its ink?

if anything, the paper would be gettings its ink 'flowing' earlier. unless this is another time and space defying printer, it must print the part of the paper that comes into the screen first, which is the part thats the fadedest -JamesDean 13:39, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

accents

An acute accent, as in intriguéd (which Strong Bad types on the screen in his e-mail, and is pronounced roughly like a long A sound), and a grave accent, as in pleatèd (which is a running gag on the site, and is pronounced roughly like a short E sound) are two entirely different things. 64.198.255.1 18:51, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

Textiles

I aggree that the thing about calling Tex-Mex a textile needs deleted. It doesn't seem like it was a mistake. Strong Bad has a history of naming a list of 3 or 4 things, and the last one being kinda out of place, as a little joke. (The first one to come to mind is "No running, no diving, no swimming.") Also, and perhaps more importantly, he wasn't naming off textiles. Latex isn't one. We obviously need something about Tex-Mex, but the textile thing is too far fetched.--Antisexy 03:49, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

So we should not, in the process of explaining what tex-mex is, inform the viewer that it is not a cloth we can make clothes out of, which Strong Bad purports? Latex can be used in the manner of a textile - perhaps the term "textile" can be improved upon? Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 04:04, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
Just saying what Tex-Mex is: "The term tex-mex refers to several things, including a style of cuisine, a style of music, and a railway" suffices to explain that it's not something to wear. I guess, yeah, it wouldn't be so bad if we used a word other than textile, and if we didn't make it sound like Strong Bad made a mistake ('cause he dosen't make 'em!) But still, for the record, my vote it to get rid of that line altogether.--Antisexy 04:14, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
Sure he makes them, it's the beauty of the character. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 09:13, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
I've never heard of a tex-mex railway or tex-mex music. Can't you just say its a cross between texan(american) and mexican styles of something. Saying that its not a textile really falls under the "explaining the joke" area

Real-Life Band References

Various sloshy facts are references to real bands. The drummer having his back to the audience = Tool'sDanny Carey. Instruments covered with christmas lights = early 90's Flaming Lips. Both are alternative bands, reinforcing sloshy's indie cred. Oyster 18:52, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

They aren't refrences to specific bands. I've seen many a local band do both of these things. Heck, in some shows, they ALL had their backs to the audience 'cept the drummer.--.Johnny Jupiter! talk cont 03:25, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

Yays and w00ts All Around!

I can't believe I was the first one to notice this, but the "I'll broaden your horizons" thing is similar to the "I'll improve on your methods" thing from dragon. Both share the "I'll __ your __ !" formula. If this occurs at least one more time, there should be an article about it. but, a buttdanceNeox ONION BUBS!YOU WILL RESPECT MAH AUTHORI-TAH!!! 02:31, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

They also are both followed by Strong Bad destroying something of Strong Sad's.--.Johnny Jupiter! talk cont 03:20, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
It's also similar to a line from the Peasant's Quest Movie Trailer.
KING OF PEASANTRY: I can't have you marching up there in your short pants upsetting the balance!

RATHER DASHING: I'll upset your balance, my lord!
That one didn't have anything to do with Strong Sad, though. Shwoo 09:22, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

Quick one on subtitles

I noticed that foreign subtitles are missing out a translation of the New Paper saying "How ya like me now?" I would add it, but I cannot speak German or Finnish (heck, I can barely speak English most of the time!) ZanderSchubert 07:50, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

-èd

When Strong Sad says "pleated boots", he emphasizes the -ed. Does this make that a reference to -èd or not? I don't think it does, since that's how the word is said anyway, as oppose to striped turning in to stripèd, which is what happens every other time -èd is used. Kevin G. Dannerson 16:19, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

I think it IS, as that one syllable is emphasized. — Defender1031*Talk 16:36, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

Senor Cartgage Easter Egg

Shaun of the Dead

This article currently has a real world reference

  • The scene where a triangular piece of the sloshy record gets lodged in Strong Sad's head is similar to a scene in the zombie movie Shaun of the Dead.

I'm all for deleting this. In the movie, Shaun throws records at a zombie advancing towards him. That's an entirely different scenario. Just having a piece of a record stuck in Strong Sad's head is not enough for a reference, imho. Loafing 22:28, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
