Possible Goof?

I didn't want to jump the gun, so I want to double check this before editing the article with this possible goof:

He should see a doc about that arm.

As you can see, it looks like Strong Mad's right arm looks broken. Is this ok to list under Goofs? --Ngamer01 23:22, 22 December 2010 (UTC)

I see no goof there. MichaelXX2 mail_icon.gif link_icon.gif 23:22, 22 December 2010 (UTC)
The arm is in an unnatural position. It's like his left arm was pasted on the right side of the body. --Ngamer01 23:25, 22 December 2010 (UTC)
Try twisting your arm that way - with your forearm AND hand facing backward. Either Strong Mad is double jointed or his arm is goofed up. GenghisKhan44 97.121.71.81 23:33, 22 December 2010 (UTC)
It's not a goof though. They're imitating the animation from Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. — It's dot com 03:04, 23 December 2010 (UTC)
I'm aware of the imitation. I'm pretty sure the original Abominable Snowman never appeared to have a broken arm when flailing around though. But I won't press further on the matter. --Ngamer01 19:24, 23 December 2010 (UTC)
I guess we could watch every scene with the snowman in Rudolph to be sure, but that seems like overkill. — It's dot com 06:01, 24 December 2010 (UTC)

If you hate Homsar so much...

Is it reasonable to assume that Homsar's absence is a callback to his scene in Decemberween Mackerel? I might could add it as an inside reference. NMRodo 03:09, 23 December 2010 (UTC)

Strictly speaking, Homsar is, by default, absent from all costume displays at the end of Halloween cartoons, too; you have to click an Easter egg to make him show up. In this case, of course, we lack any chance to do so. Perhaps more importantly, H*R doesn't really have a lot of continuity, particularly as it comes to death and Homsar (he's died twice already). For these reasons, I'm not really convinced his absence is related to his near-death in Decemberween Mackerel. Heimstern Läufer 03:15, 23 December 2010 (UTC)
I thought the same thing as NMRodo, but it's a little too much speculation for my taste to include in the fun facts. — It's dot com 03:16, 23 December 2010 (UTC)
I honestly thought clicking The Poopsmith would bring up Homsar... somehow, for lack of a better Easter egg spot. As far as continuity goes, I viewed it as a joke that came up in one Toon, was referenced in a soon-after Toon, then never mentioned again (in the same way of Homsar being crushed by the Heavy Lourde in "homsar", then mentioning being in the hospital in an Answering Machine). But it is rather speculative. Better left unsaid, I suppose. NMRodo 03:24, 23 December 2010 (UTC)
Homsar was NOT absent from ALL of them, I watched Doomy Tales Of The Macabre and at the end I saw 12 characters in costumes INCLUDING HOMSAR.

Hollow Snow-globe Pom-Pom?

Is it notable that the smaller Pom-Pom in the real Pom-Pom's snow globe costume seems to be empty? --Mooman72v2 03:18, 23 December 2010 (UTC)
I think it should be mentioned on the costumes page in the description of his costume, but we don't need more than that. (I was secretly hoping it would be the scene within the scene within the scene...) — It's dot com 03:22, 23 December 2010 (UTC)
There turned out to be another fun fact this could piggyback onto, so I went ahead and mentioned it in the article. — It's dot com 14:08, 23 December 2010 (UTC)
Yay. I helped :) --67.174.109.182 04:50, 24 December 2010 (UTC)

Audio quality and screen size

Now that more people have access to better Internet bandwidth and larger monitors, the Chaps may have made a permanent switch to better audio quality and the double-size stage, beginning with the toon right before this one. If so, they shouldn't be mentioned in this toon, because they're not firsts. (Only time will tell; I just wanted to go ahead and bring it up.) — It's dot com 03:19, 23 December 2010 (UTC)

More like "only more 'toons will tell." I agree with your comment, however, since there's only two instances of the higher-quality audio and screen size thing right now, I would think it's notable. In my opinion, if it turns out to be a true switchover, we can go back and remove it later. That's the great thing about wikis. --Mario2.PNG Super Martyo boing! 03:23, 23 December 2010 (UTC)
Indeed. I mentioned it now so we'd be reminded, in case there's another lengthy break before the next toon (I hope not!). — It's dot com 14:11, 23 December 2010 (UTC)

Lines from A Christmas Story

Is it worth mentioning that the lines that Strong Bad has when you click on Strong Sad are what Ralphie's dad says to him when he appears in that costume in the movie? --174.91.174.204 18:46, 23 December 2010 (UTC)Poopaw

Wait really? Well, if that's true, I'd say it's definitely a notable fun fact. NMRodo 21:11, 23 December 2010 (UTC)
Yep, really: The IMDB quotes:
Mr. Parker: He looks like a deranged Easter Bunny.
Mother: He does not!
Mr. Parker: He does too, he looks like a pink nightmare! [1]
And I see that someone's already put it in. Dang.

Where is the back button?

For some reason. I can't find the back button. If you find it, please tell me. ~ weirdalinstrongbadia 12/23/10

Umm... even using the Tab key doesn't show anything. I'm about to jot that down as a fun fact. -- ■■   PURPLE  WRENCH   ■■ 01:13, 24 December 2010 (UTC)

Run time, interactive menus

The run-time to this cartoon is 2:40 seconds. However, as we normally do not include easter eggs in running time, shouldn't it be closer to 0:15? Since the cartoon is mostly easter eggs, I can see an exception being made here, but I feel conflicted about doing so. --Jellote wuz here 20:27, 25 December 2010 (UTC)

2:40 is also the official time given on the Toons Menu. Just sayin'. --DorianGray 20:48, 25 December 2010 (UTC)

Is Homsar pulling ANOTHER death?

If you remember, in a Christmas Mackeral, Homsar was dying. He does not return in this toon, either. Is Homsar pulling another death, like his first appearance?

This conversation should go to the forum, rather than here. doctorwho295 26 December 2010

No. Homsar didn't appear BECAUSE of his death in A Decemberween Mackerel. Since he "died" at the end. weirdalistrongbadia

Halloween toon

For whatever reason, the Chaps didn't make a Halloween toon back in October, so they made one now. It's actually less of a Decemberween toon than a Halloween toon (the proper Decemberween toon being A Decemberween Mackerel). From the opening jack-o-lantern, to the costumes, to the Easter eggs, everything is in the style of Halloween; there is simply a Decemberween theme to which costumes were chosen (it's actually very clever the way they blended the two). It is therefore completely proper that this toon be counted as the big Halloween toon of the year (the pre-Easter-egg portion may be only four lines long, but it still counts, and it's the best we're gonna get) and be listed in all the appropriate Halloween categories in addition to the Decemberween ones. — It's dot com 00:07, 28 December 2010 (UTC)

I mostly agree with Dot com on this one. Leave it in the Halloween categories. It's not quite a proper replacement for the annual big Halloween toon IMHO, but it's the closest we're gonna get save "Halloween in April" or somesuch. --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 00:22, 28 December 2010 (UTC)

Missing Homsar

If we accept that this is a Halloween toon as much as or more than a Decemberween toon (see the above thread), it is therefore notable that Homsar is not in it simply because people expect him to be in it. I know that people expect him to be in it because they have said so on the article page, this talk page, and the forum thread. I myself decompiled the toon to see if he was hidden somewhere and we just missed him. The reason he's missing is probably because there was no good place to hide him due to the short length of the toon itself, but the reason isn't important, only that he's not there. — It's dot com 00:26, 28 December 2010 (UTC)

Except it doesn't follow the usual format. The main pattern being broken here is not the appearance of Homsar, but the entire format, timing, and ween applicability of the toon. The lack of homsar is secondary to all that. If the lack of homsar was PART of a fun fact about those things, and not the entirety of a fun fact in and of itself, i'd be a lot more comfortable with it. — Defender1031*Talk 00:31, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
I think they're better better as separate facts. The first one, an explanation, says why this toon exists the way it does. The second one is a remark on the absence of a usual character. Even though we're pretty sure the two facts are linked, it's still speculation to say they definitely are, and given how neatly the two facts currently fit in their respective categories I don't think they should be combined. — It's dot com 00:42, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
I think i'm suggesting a fact that reads something like "this is the first halloween toon to feature no story other than a costume lineup. In addition, it's the first one since homestarloween party not to include homsar". Would THAT be acceptable? — Defender1031*Talk 00:46, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
Yes, I think mentioning that other part would be good in the remark. (The explanation should stay as it is.) — It's dot com 04:11, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
