[edit] Seen or Unseen?

Afaik, we have seen Leomard Sportsinterviews; i think he's on the cover of This Book Is Better Tha 1st 2nd and Quite Possibly 3rd Base.

It could be someone else. --TROGGA! 18:18, 9 Aug 2005 (UTC)

I think that is him. — talk Bubsty edits 03:47, 8 Oct 2005 (UTC)

[edit] A Load of Clap?

In order to avoid an edit war, we should discuss the existance of the Clapper Loader in First Time Here? and others. He definitely exists. You can here two distinct voices in the the cartoon (aside from Homestar). He definitely deserves a mention. --DorianGray

Now that I know that he was heard, I guess that he deserves a mention. But not his own article. Rogue Leader / (my talk)
No, definitely not. He doesn't even have an official name, really. A little mention is all it takes. --DorianGray
Agreed.-SparkPlug

[edit] Will the real Rondleman please stand up?

This is not a character. This is Homestar's nickname for Strong Bad. There has been an instace of this in both Biz Cas Fri 1 and 2. Notice how Strong Bad stumbles after he uses the name, like he has confused himeself. SparkPlug 06:19, 11 Aug 2005 (UTC)

He is a character, albeit an unseen one. Strong Bad says he works in Regional Shipping Management Resources. Homestar might be that delusional, but I don't think Strong Bad is in matters not pertaining to his own coolness. --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 06:26, 11 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Ah, man, I'm sorry. I thought I had found something. I guess I must have missed that line, or something. I'm stupid. SparkPlug 06:32, 11 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Not since Stupid Uncle Egg has a possibly imaginary H*R character lit up my imagination! Viva la Rondleman!--The Smoking Monkey 10:44, 11 Aug 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Stan = Dripping Yellow Madness

SS: "Dripping Yellow Madness moved away after fifth grade!" Bubs: "Stan?! I fired that guy after the fifth grade!"

Fifth grade was just a running joke in that toon. (It was also mentioned a third time at the end.) — It's dot com 16:13, 29 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Agree. — talk Bubsty edits 04:41, 15 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Clean Up

  • Could use a good reword.
  • Grammar, spelling, punctuation.
  • Standardized.

[edit] Taco Man?

Taco Man is a character from ebolaworld.com, what is he doing in this list?--Dwedit 06:54, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

He was mentioned a couple times in Halloween Potion-ma-jig. --DorianGray

[edit] Are Email Writers Characters?

I added "In addition to the characters listed here, none of the over 150 authors - real or fictional - of the emails that Strong Bad has answered have ever been seen" to the top of the page, and it got promptly DELETED! I can see how the email writers are different from the other characters because most of them are real. However, characters in a play or movie don't have to be ficticious; they can be real. The email-writers are also more characters of their own right than many other characters listed on the page. Strong Bad talks to them all the time, makes fun of their names, grammar and (ficticious) appearances. Obviously, including a complete list would be nonsense, but they should at least be mentioned on Unseen Characters.  Loafing 07:30, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

The question then is, are the email writers themselves a part of the Homestar Runner universe? That's a very interesting question. I'm still leaning toward no, but I'm keeping an open mind until more people weigh in. — It's dot com 21:36, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
I believe they are not just off-hand real world references, but rather "naturalized" characters. But I'm keeping an open mind too.  Loafing 21:44, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
Many staple characters of the universe did start as writers and/or people mentioned by them, the four most obvious being Cheerleader, So-and-So, What's her face, and The Ugly One, but also such others as Kerrek. Many authors have also been referenced repeatedly, such as Ali and Ali's sister, Abdi, and Viklas. I have no problem with the paragraph mentioned above, and I also wouldn't object to perhaps a page on authors that have become part of the universe, such as the ones listed above, though I could see much debate over just who should be included on such a page. Thunderbird 22:50, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
Hi, TB! Have you seen the new category? Elcool (talk)(contribs) 07:06, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
Alright. Having slept on it for a few days, I think I was just over-complicating things again. If I look at the whole range from simple email authors at one end to someone like Fhqwhgads or even Kerrek at the other end, then it becomes clear that there is a big difference here. I reckon it doesn't make much sense to assume that each author automatically becomes a character in the H*R universe. They should at least be mentioned somewhere else as well, and then we have to decide on a case by case basis whether they are characters, running gags, and so on. And I agree with Thunderbird; it would be nice to have all these on a page. Maybe one day, when I've got too much time ;-)  Loafing 10:38, 22 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Dartmouth?

Should Dartmouth and/or the the villain from Dartmouth (underlings) be mentioned here? Enigma 19:11, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

Yes, definitely. There's even a section under "Heard" for characters on the Brothers Strong's TV set. --DorianGray 19:18, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Unseen chorus

So, the words "unseen chorus" in the currently featured Thinkkaman article lead to this page, yet said chorus isn't mentioned. Should this be fixed? 01:54, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Generic Announcers

I was considering starting an article that mentions unseen announcers. It would start off like this:

  • "In the Homestar Runner body of work, generic announcers are often heard publicizing shows and advertisements, reading sentences out loud, and delivering speeches about specific topics. Compared to The Announcer, their physical appearances are never seen."

I also gathered most of the appearances.

Toons, Shorts, and Holidays

  • A Decemberween Pageant
  • Mr. Shmallow (toon)
  • Cheat Commandos (toon)
  • Senor Mortgage
  • Senorial Day
  • Commandos in the Classroom
  • Fall Float Parade
  • Blue Laserdisc Challenge
  • Date Nite
  • TGS Issue 13

Strong Bad Emails

  • CGNU
  • Cheat Talk
  • Fingers
  • Mile
  • The Process
  • The Bet
  • Lackey
  • Pizzaz {sic}
  • Family Resemblence {sic}
  • Animal
  • Bottom 10
  • Geddup Noise
  • Space Program
  • Accent
  • Candy Product
  • Alternate Universe (for the "In a bulding" part)
  • Senior Prom
  • Theme Song
  • Cliffhangers
  • 4 Branches
  • Strong Badathlon
  • The Movies
  • Underlings
  • Original
  • Web Comics
  • Business Trip

Would that be the wrong thing to do? Because we never know if the next toon or sbemail will contain a voice from an unseen announcer. We could also add a "See Also" section on the bottom page for "Unseen Characters." --69.19.14.37 20:47, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

Does anyone else out there think it's a good idea? This fellow's waiting for a reply. --Charlie Jr. 15:02, 19 October 2007 (UTC)
You're talking about the guy(s) who read all the fine print and such? Sure, why not? (Incidentally, please note that we treat the lowercase form of Strong Bad Emails as the canonical spelling, and you shouldn't that cliché for the opening. Otherwise, it looks good so far!) — It's dot com 00:14, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
Terrific! And yes, I will make sure I treat the Strong Bad Emails with lowercase form. When you say, "you shouldn't that cliché for the opening," you probably want the opening rephrased as "In the Homestar Runner universe..." By the way, I started this subheader anonymously before I made a reply to myself. I know it's odd, but I'll be careful next time. --Charlie Jr. 14:58, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
Did this page every get made? Cuz I can't find it. (The)trlkly 04:32, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
Your question tells me that you didn't even try to search, cause if you had looked for Generic Announcers, you would have been taken directly there. — Defender1031*Talk 10:22, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Fictional vs. spin-off

Mentioned by fictional characters within the Homestar Runner universe

The word "fictional" is correct here; it should not be "spin-off characters". Within the Homestar Runner universe, those characters are fictional. The article Strong Bad Email Spin-offs describes a quirk of the Homestar Runner body of work, which is not synonymous with the universe. Thus, although Firebert and by extension the Cheat Commandos originated in caper from our perspective, from inside the universe they're not necessarily related. — It's dot com 17:30, 23 January 2013 (UTC)

I agree that between the two options, fictional is the more correct, though I hesitate to say that either is entirely accurate. Why not call a spade a spade and go with "Mentioned by sub-universe characters". (I also wonder if we shouldn't have either a category or a whole page devoted to the various sub-universes) — Defender1031*Talk 18:50, 23 January 2013 (UTC)
