[edit] Children singing
- Anyone want to take a guess at what the children backup singers are singing? It's certainly not "Zee S is for sucks". Sounds like random babbling. Danny Lilithborne 18:52, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
- I don't think they're following every word of the song exactly, but I do think they're singing "The S is for Sucks". --Jaybor Day (Talk) 19:33, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
You know those are the Chaps' kids singing back there. We'll probably never get that confirmed, though. — 216.139.144.66 (Talk | contribs) 14:46, 15 January 2008 (UTC) (left unsigned)
- No. They're like not even 2 and 1 years old. Seems like they are using the same method(s) they used to make kids voices for Intro, Super NES, and for kids. —BazookaJoe 16:49, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
- If you must know how they can make kids voices, I think they increase their voices' pitch until they get the right sound. --66.82.9.92 00:59, 16 January 2008 (UTC) (Charlie Jr., still having trouble logging back in)
- Agreed, similar to the way the Chipmunks voices were sped up originally. Also, I'd like to point out that the "kids" resemble the chipmunks somewhat, down to Alvin's "A" on his hat, Simon's glasses... I dunno if Theodore used to sport a cowboy hat in the original cartoon or not. Maybe it's just a coincidence. -- Cheesius 23:22, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Constabulate?
Where's Constabulate from (Constabulate V's)? 124.188.66.94 20:16, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
- Sounds like a corruption of "consummate Vs" from dragon. --DorianGray 20:41, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
- That was my thinking. If the real Trogdor had "consummate V's" then the V's on this must have some other description. It's certainly not used in dragon, or anywhere else on the site, for that matter.
- --Bobsmith84 21:41, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
- Note that the dragon is wearing a police constable's hat when that line is said. -ComputerBox 16:51, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Coach Z's Arms
Hey, i just noticed that in the easter egg at the end of this toon, Coach Z's arms are animated differently than they have been previously. They seem to be drawn frame by frame, as opposed to being two symbols that are manipulated. Does this merit mention on the "Remarks" section? -Mason
- Why not? Just don't make it too technical or people might get confused and delete it. MNGoldenEagle 05:05, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] The Dragon At The End Of The Video
Considering he sings the heavy metal song for the S is for Sucks Dragon, I think that the dragon at the end is the S is for Sucks Dragon, and not Trogdor. The trivia here is therefore wrong. What do you guys think? — 71.225.45.178 (Talk | contribs) 06:07, 15 January 2008 (left unsigned)
- The jaw is all wrong for The S is for Sucks (note the nostril especially). Further, why would The S is for Sucks be annoyed with Strong Bad for ignoring Trogdor? --DorianGray 06:11, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
- Personally, I think it would make more sense if it were the S is for Sucks Dragon, yelling at Strong Bad that he wants his own heavy metal song and not a children's song (so as to be on equal footing with Trogdor), hence Strong Bad saying "Yes sir, right away sir!" followed by him singing a heavy metal song for S is for Sucks Dragon. But DorianGray is right, it is Trogdor's snout... not sure why Strong Bad says "Yes sir, right away sir!" followed by a heavy metal song for S is for Sucks dragon (and NOT Trogdor), but hey, logic has escaped the Homestar Runner universe before. MNGoldenEagle 06:22, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
- The intent seems to have been to communicate that Trogdor was upset with Strong Bad not because he (Trogdor) was being ignored, but because Strong Bad said he (Strong Bad) liked the children's song better than Trogdor's heavy metal music. I guess Trogdor really likes metal and wanted to hear some! I agree that it was odd, but.. irridisregardless, it was definitely Trogdor at the window. OptimisticFool 06:37, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
- Why are you guys agreeing that it is Trogdor based on the nose, despite everything else. Can't it be that the dragon at the window is a realistic version of S is for Sucks Dragon? I mean, you have theory which is "The Snout is Trogdors, so it must be Trogdor despite all the evidence." compared to "The Snout is wrong, but the dragon must be S if for Sucks." Can't it be the latter? -— 71.225.45.178 (Talk | contribs) later, 15 January 2008 (left unsigned)
- The snout is the evidence. If you update the S is for Sucks dragon to be realistic, it's no longer the S is for Sucks dragon (his entire existence is based on the fact that he doesn't look natural). Given that the snout fits exactly with Trogdor, and not at all with the S is for Sucks, I don't see how we can conclude that this is the S is for Sucks. Heimstern Läufer 07:08, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
- Furthermore, we did in fact see an updated (though still not realistic) version of the S is for Sucks: The one that appears during the heavy metal song. This version likewise looks nothing like the dragon at the window. Is it likely that TBC would make two different versions of the S is for Sucks, then make another that looks nothing like the other two and looks exactly like Trogdor? I think not. S is for Sucks dragon doesn't have a jaw, the dragon at the window obviously did. Danny Lilithborne 09:33, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
Honestly, I don't think the two are things are at all related. I think it was:Troggie got angry, yelled at Strong Bad, SB apologizes, (scene), and then TBC just threw in the song for the hell of it, like they did in Dragon. Whoever the dragon outside is, they're not asking/demanding a song.-- DongleGoblin 18:11, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
Slightly unrelated, if that is Trogdor outside, then we might be able to get a scale size for Trogdor to Strong Bad. If my guess is accurate, Trogdor is just about as big as Bubsgonzola Supreme. --71.121.150.75 06:04, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
- If only TBC could keep their scale sizes more or less accurate. They even make fun of this in the commentary for new hands and flag day. --DorianGray 06:29, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
- Does decompiling the toon allow us to see the whole dragon? Bad Bad Guy 00:56, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
- No whole dragon. With the wall, Le Restige, and Strong Bad removed, what can be seen is this. OptimisticFool 01:38, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] I'm [adjective] Strong Bad
Haven't we heard a sentence of this form before? I can't remember where it was, but it seems like it might be worth noting, since it's a pretty unusual way to introduce yourself. — 24.90.102.55 (Talk | contribs) 14:55, 15 January 2008 (UTC) (left unsigned)
yeah check out my edit in inside references — Physicsguymonsterman (Talk | contribs) 15:43, 15 January 2008 (UTC) (left unsigned)
- As Physicsguymonsterman put on the page, he does say "I'm regular Strong Bad" in unnatural. I don't know whether this can actually be called a reference, though; more like another instance of a running gag. Interestingly, Strong Bad has said, "Thank you for calling attractive Strong Bad" in Lappynapped!, which doesn't start with "I'm" .. but the "[adjective] Strong Bad" is there. OptimisticFool 16:55, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
Well if it happens again we'll call it a gag but for two instances its a reference or inside jokePhysicsguymonsterman
- Since this matter is clearly controversial, could we please discuss here rather than repeatedly reverting? I'm ambivalent, personally, but I let's not have any edit wars. Heimstern Läufer 20:12, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
Its as much a reference as anything.Physicsguymonsterman
- Well, that's not exactly a convincing argument. Heimstern Läufer 20:41, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
- No it isn't. It's just a vaguely similar sentence. I re-use lines all the time, but I don't always "reference" something I said in the past. I don't think it's a reference, a running gag, or anything else; it's just TBC's way of talking. We don't need to remark on how *everything* said is a "reference" to something said in the past just because it's *kinda* similar. Honestly, we're really reaching these days, trying to pad the Inside Refs and Real World Refs sections needlessly... -YK 20:42, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
- Heimstern Läufer, see my comment downthread (the one that starts with "Yes"). I'm not a regular contributor to this wiki (I don't even have an account), so I have no vested interest in padding the Inside Refs section. What I'm saying is that when I heard the line, I knew it reminded me of something in another toon, I couldn't remember what it was, and I was curious. Where am I going to find this out if not on HRWiki? Please, think of the casual users -- don't focus so much the conceptual and structural purity of the project that you lose sight of them. — 24.90.102.55 (Talk | contribs) 10:40, January 16, 2008 (left unsigned)
- Addendum: I don't think re-used lines make for very good "references", simply because unless the wording is *very* unique and specific to one source, there just isn't any especially good reason to believe it's referring directly to one specific usage of it. TBC *are* known for frequently alluding to older toons, but words are just words. -YK 20:46, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
- Whether or not it's a "reference," the first thing I thought when I heard it was "oh, that's a weird phrasing that Strong Bad's used before, but I can't remember where." It would be nice to be able to go to the Wiki page for the toon and find out what I was half-remembering, because there's no other way for me to find out without watching everything on the site over again. (It's not like you can Google "I'm [adjective] Strong Bad."
- All right. My beef with this kind of thing is that if there's no solid proof that it's a "reference" (and there very seldom *is*; as I said, words are words, and there're really only so many ways of saying certain things), then there's no reason to state in the fun facts so matter-of-factly that it *is* one. Also, "that's the first thing I thought of when I heard/saw that" is a weak argument; the first thing that popped into *my* head when Strong Bad said "Soma" a few SBEMails ago was the main character from the Castlevania "Sorrow" series, but in context, and considering it appears to be a common, multi-use word, there was no actual reason for me to believe that's what he was referring to, so it would have been foolish for me to attempt to note it. -YK 00:51, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, "that's the first thing that popped into my head" is a weak argument for a reference, but that's not what I'm saying. My point is that this site is a compendium of useful/interesting H*R-related information. If something on the site reminded me of something in a Castlevania game, I wouldn't think, "Oh, I'll find out what it is on HRWiki," because HRWiki isn't a site about Castlevania. But if something on the site reminded me of *something else on the site*, I'd think that HRWiki would be the first place to look to find out what it was. Especially because there's no other way to find out, as I pointed out above. I realize that TBC are likely not "referring" to the line in unnatural in the usual sense of the word "refer," but it would be nice to point out the connection *somehow*, even if we don't call it a "reference." Refusing to include that information detracts from the wiki and makes it less useful. The wiki ultimately exists for its users, not its creators and administrators, right?

Then what do you propose? Tbc said in an interview that they do a ton of references (and that they use the wiki to do them. I think it is a reference. When i first saw the toon i thought wow i heard that before so i searched the wiki for Appostrophe flinger and said its from unnatural Its gotta be a reference
[edit] ABC Song
I so want an MP3 of the song -_- there is another one I wanted as well, but now I can't remember it. I hope someone makes one for this. I can't record from the "What you hear" as many people are able to do with Audacity or something. This is due to me having SigmaTel Audio (I also don't have its control panel.) --205.213.122.19 15:12, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
It will probably be included in QOTW one day, which I *think* can be downloaded - I only hope for your sake that the brothers don't pull the same stunt they did with "Smart Drinks" and make it almost completly different. MJN SEIFER 16:12, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
- They haven't done one yet. Anyone think they can record it for us, and stick it up on mediafire or something? I can't, my sound card doesn't support recording sound out. 66.168.19.135 02:56, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
If you give me your email adress, I can whip up an MP3 for you. Its my specialty. Free of charge. MichaelXX2 01:10, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
Never mind that. I have a Mediafire link for whoever wants it. Please let me know who downloads it.

[edit] Wormdingler
I think it should be noted somewhere that wormdingler was the, ahem, "Dragon", that Coach Z drew in the original e-mail. Just in case some one hasn't seen Dragon. --G a r d e n B o y {Talk · Edits} 23:49, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
- We already have a fact explaining that all the Dragons appeared in Dragon, so unless we specificlly mention all of them, we cant really single out Wormdingler.-- DongleGoblin 01:15, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Running Gags?
Okay, I just what everyone else thinks about two possibly new running gags on the site: 1.Aside from the Bad Graphics Ghost, which is a stand alone character, have ther been enough appearances of ghosts to be included as a running gag? 2.Could characters appearing/acting in front of sheets of paper be considered a running gag? -- DongleGoblin 02:34, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] troggie, s is for suck relationship
that fact that they're both made by strongbad, makes them brothers and it apears that trogdor defended s is for sucks by telling strongbad to give his brother a heavy metal song. 64.12.116.16 22:33, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
- If only we had some sort of forum so that we could discuss things that are not relevant to the article and are mainly speculation. Hmm...if only — Flashfight 05:28, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
- Flashbert, that's really not very nice, and i think that this was actually in response to this thread, which makes it very relevant. — Defender1031*Talk 05:32, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Link from toons page now broken.
If you try to go to this toon from the toons page, you are taken to http://homestarrunner.com/trogday08.ht7ml and not http://homestarrunner.com/trogday08.html
[edit] E Eats Everything
Is it just me, or does this song have more than a passing resemblance to They Might Be Giants' E Eats Everything? It seems to follow a similar structure and meter for the verses at least. What do you think? Also, I have an account, but it's old and out of date and it's a name I don't use anymore (SonicFan). --72.226.234.136 13:03, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Can Did
I'm almost completely sure that when the toon was first released that Coach Z said in the Easter Egg: "Can I say that out loud?" rather than "Did I just say that out loud?" Looking back into the page history, early versions of this page seem to back this up. Does anyone remember this? Is it worth a mention in the article? 16:08, 2 March 2008
[edit] Inside reference...?
I was wondering, the "rythum" this song uses is the same as "Come on and get in the boat, fish fish." ColdReactive
[edit] Croissant! Here'sn't a Croissant!
No matter how many times I liston to this cartoon, I just can't hear Strong Bad saying "Croissant! Here's a Croissant!" I hear it as "Croissant! Zee S is for Sucks!", and I think that's what the page used to say. I say it should go back. -Again Ben.
- You're right. I definitely hear a distinct "s" sound at the end, rendering the current line unarguable. DevonM(talk·cont-ribs) 22:33, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] I can't believe no one brought this up yet!
The book Strong Bad is reading (Words I'm About to Say) seems similar to "Words I Probably Said". Despite this, it is neither a fun fact or a discussion topic. I'll add this unless someone opposes in three days. If someone agrees, I'll add it imediately. --Jellote wuz here 18:43, 17 July 2009 (UTC)
