Revision as of 22:41, 11 December 2008

Ding! Thorax Corporation is a featured article, which means it showcases an important part of the Homestar Runner body of work and/or highlights the fine work of this wiki. We also might just think it's cool. If you see a way this page can be updated or improved without compromising previous work, feel free to contribute.

I really think we need to extend this page. We should transcript every page and give this it's own category. Maybe it should be the next big project we do after Peasant's Quest is done.-----User:RatherAnnoying

What about the profanity though? There are usages of "What the h*ll" and "a**" on Thorax Corp. This violates the profanity margins of the H*R Wiki. --Ian911299

Hm... good point. Hell isn't such a big deal, seeing as it's been said before in the HSR universe. I think that a** isn't that big of a deal. If it's been said by TBC, it's ok on the wiki, I think. — talk Bubsty edits 00:30, 21 December 2005 (UTC)
Except that transcribing every page would then bring up the same copyright concerns as we had before. Since the page is mostly text, it's just a simple copy-paste, unlike writing a transcript for a 'toon. See also: Talk:Strong Sad's Lament. --DorianGray
It's not "hell" alone that's a problem. It's when it's being used as an exclamation. THAT doesn't appear in the H*R universe. And as DorianGray mentioned, the copyright concerns are a problem, so overall, I think that we shouldn't transcribe Thorax Corp. --Ian911299
Oh, and I also saw usage of "p*ss" on Thorax. --Ian911299
Hm... you have a point. This may not have appropriate language, and there can be copyright problems. All the same, it wouldnt be the wiki way if we didn't transcribe it. Perhaps we ask TBC if we could transcribe it and censor out the bad words.... Never mind. I'm not very good at this kinda thing. (Especially since I'm only 12). — talk Bubsty edits 00:50, 22 December 2005 (UTC)
I'm not very good at it either. Is there anyone here who IS good at this type of stuff? --Ian911299
Hmmm... maybe we could discuss this on the forum with the others. --Ian911299
  • spits out coffee* Bubsty's only 12??!?!?!!?! Anyway, we could just put a warning on it, and do what we did on this page. SaltyTalk! 05:39, 23 December 2005 (UTC)
    • Hey! That's a pretty good idea! However, the copyright stuff is still an issue. --Ian911299
      • Well, we could also put one o' these: {{Template:web-screenshot}} except change it from screenshot to.... page. SaltyTalk! 06:11, 24 December 2005 (UTC)
        • I'm not sure that'd fall under fair use, though, even with the template. It's only fair use if it doesn't replace the actual site. --DorianGray

This site doens't fall under the domain homestarrunner.com. The one page we have is sufficient. — It's dot com 06:20, 24 December 2005 (UTC)

  • Yeah, the page we already have is enough. We really don't need more. — Ian911299

Gent Identity

Who knows who Gent really is? Is he Matt or Mike? Is he someone famous? Who is this blurred man? Deos anyone know? I'm really curious. Chess Cheese

Actually, to me it looks a lot like Matthew Perry. But then again I'm just a weirdo. Einoo 22:59, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

Domain Business?

Where does it say Thorax Corp is a domain name business? It looks like it's only for stardome issues. (Of course, the site is full of links. It's not easy finding them all.)

THS Cheesia 23:32, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

So... uhhh... why won't anyone answer? THS Cheesia 19:25, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
Probably because, so far at least, no one knows the answer off the top of their head, and they're not willing to go look for it. Stop yelling. — It's dot com 19:33, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
I would not at all state them as domain owners, and calling them "stereotypical domain owners." The Brothers Chaps probably put down no actual hint (besides "offering total stardom") of what they do just to make it funny. I say that they're not "stereotypical" because there not aggressive for the most part, and that they are purposely portrayed as stupid, because, well, it makes it funny. To be honest, I do not find any relevance in the current description we have in the article. --71.157.173.166 22:00, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
If there are no comments, I'll just change it to "They are a fictional crudely run company offering 'Total Stardom.'"

Leg Delabor

Why is his image a broken JPEG? Dagoth 06:27, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

Why not? It's kinda funny. --DorianGray 06:30, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

Am I doing this right?

Okay, before I go too far and before all the hard work I've been doing goes to waste, I'm restructuring to get all external links in with some alt attribute values thrown in. Is this good so far? Is this necessary? All of these are there real values, since you're probably wondering.

Removed. See below for revision. You can see the old one here.

--68.94.95.107 22:55, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

Oh yeah, and I remembered there was some article that had a bunch of external links organized in columns with page titles...anyone remember what that one was I thought it was? I thought it was The King of Town DVD or Yearbook, but that isn't it. --68.94.95.107 00:07, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

Today, for the past hour or less, I've finished it for the heck of it. Can we put it in the article, or do I need to improve it?

Removed. It's now on the page with some improvements. You can see this one here.

Can we use it? --75.41.212.228 21:25, 8 November 2008 (UTC)

You know, I looked at the Goats article thinking about replacing it with the "The Mythological Goat of Success" image with it's alternative text, and it could have been helpful to have it already in the database (well, I don't mean by in this talk page). Also, looking at an earlier note of, "(Of course, the site is full of links. It's not easy finding them all.)", I think this will be a good contribution. If no one has any comments, I'll be adding this to the page in an hour, and adding a "{{uncensored}}" at the top of the page, due to the language of some of the alternative texts and page titles. Or maybe I'll just make a non-templated warning and add that to the top of the page. Yeah, that sounds better. --75.41.212.228 19:00, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

Thorax Template?

Just so that we have all of it documented on the Wiki, should we make a page for each page, pop-up, etc.? I would like to transcribe the content of all the site, however, getting it all on one page would make it a little cluttered. I understand the lack of attention brought to Thorax due to its swearing, but I think we should allow an individual page for each page. --75.41.212.228 20:38, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

Really, anybody? Since it's crawling with links, it would be helpful to document the pages. Not to mention it would make listing the references a lot more easier when doing it with separate pages and not as a whole. And it would be easier on Running Gag pages to link a Thorax Page to it's own article instead of either linking the page in a running gag's article, or leave the user to just search for it in that giant External Links section I had to make. --71.157.173.166 18:19, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

Content Warning Removal

I beg to differ on the removal of the content warning you did, It's Dot Com. I covered alternate texts and page names, which include "WHO THE HELL DOES THIS GUY THINK HE IS?", and "sex appeal". "HORAX" could also be taken the wrong way. --70.253.165.204 02:46, 6 December 2008 (UTC)

That, and this should be considered an uncensored article, in which I made that template of use. It will put Thorax in the uncensored articles category.
I've also documented the PRODUKTs now. No, not to get {{coverscontent}} back up there, its just a coincidence that I found it helpful to have it in the database while this was going on. Since the PRODUKTs contain mild swearing, we need it more than earlier. --70.253.165.204 03:27, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
