I'm 90% sure that's Heartbreaker, i listened to it twice to make sure, if this is true I would say that the 16 hour drumsolo is more of a reference to John Bonham's extensively long drum solos.

Pinebark?

Anyone know what Pinebark is? I did a search online but came up with nadda.

I think it's just the bark of a pine tree...it makes sense, TGS 3? said that The Ugly One was "Actually Crazy"

Three-necked guitar?

I'm no guitar expert (heck, I HATE all genres of popular music), so I used Google. The only picture of a three-necked guitar I found had the three necks parallel. Both Cheerleader's guitar and the Future Retro guitar have the necks non-parallel. In fact, the necks are arranged quite similarly. I would say that HSR (the nonesuch of Flash cartoons) has made a definite reference to Animusic (the nonesuch of music). mathgrant 12:24, 17 Jan 2005 (MST)

About the Goofs section

  • During Kissy Boots' first practice session, both What's Her Face and Cheerleader are playing basses, possibly Fender basses, judging from the arrangement of string keys.

It seems the 'goof' above is more of a (not so) fun fact rather than a mistake or goof. Can someone explain why there is a "goofs" section for a cartoon based a bunch of drawings supposedly from Strong Bad? I always considered goofs as something strictly associated with movies. That is, goofs are mistakes made during filming of a movie that aren't caught or fixed before the final version. --The Paper 15:29, 17 Jan 2005 (MST)

    • I didn't include the fact in question and did kinda wonder about its inclusion in the "Goofs" category. However, I did create the Fun Facts sub-categories, so I will defend the Goofs section in and of itself. A Goof is what happens when the Bros. Chaps make a mistake (not a Flash mistake, as that would be a Glitch, but a continuity or plot error). The above fact isn't really a "Goof", and I question that the twelve/twenty-sided die fact is a Goof (though it's closer), but yes, Goofs can and do happen in H*R cartoons. --Jay 15:37, 17 Jan 2005 (MST)

TGS Attends CGNU?

Drum solo

Who's that Drummond? (DECLINED)

One of The Ugly One's drums bears the inscription, "Mr Drummond," who was a character in the 70's/80's TV show, Diff'rent Strokes. It may also have been a reference to Bill "King Boy" Drummond of the techno band The KLF. It may also be a reference to Ryan Drummond, who plays Sonic the Hedgehog in the newer games.

    • Second I invented the term TTATOT, but I don't really know if this qualifies. TTATOT was mostly meant to cover cases where there are a BUNCH of potential things the fact could be referring to, for the same reasons, and they all have equal merit. These two alternatives are unrelated, and I don't think they have equal merit (the Diff'rent Strokes one looks MUCH more likely.) Who's that Drummond? Redux (Accepted)

"Mr Drummond" refers to Philip Drummond, a character in the '70s/'80s TV show Diff'rent Strokes.

Fender Guitars

During Kissy Boots' first practice session, both What's Her Face and Cheerleader are playing basses, possibly Fender basses, judging from the arrangement of string keys.

  • Rewrite. The machine heads (tuning keys) on Cheerleader's guitar definitely suggest Fender, but Fender never made guitars with bodies in the Flying V shape -- that shape suggests Gibson (or possibly Epiphone, who make the first good knockoff). It does appear to be a four-string bass, since during the concert, Cheerleader plays (or pretends to play) a multinecked guitar with six machine heads per neck, so it's not just Strong Bad's artistic license. What's her face's guitar (which is, interestingly, left-handed) is much more likely to be a Fender. -- 70.19.78.90

Facty's Big Chance (DECLINED)

Fatty's Big Chance could be a reference to the Goonland character "Fatty Big Eye" which looks similar to Fatty's Big Chance.

Truk (DECLINED)

In the "Easter Egg" from the exclamation point at the end of episode 8, we see Tompkins wearing a shirt that says "Truk." Truk is the name of a Pacific atoll inhabited by Polynesian peoples. Truk was newsworthy in the 70's for the gang violence there.

The page title "soopa group" is a stretch, but could possibly be a reference to SoofaGroup (http://www.freewebs.com/soofagroup/index.htm). At least that's the only thing that makes any remote sense, and it's doubtful that Soof took their name from this toon.

Guitar -> Shark (Declined)

The only possible interpretation of the guitar turning into a shark is that a bass (guitar) is being confused with a bass (fish)? Which would be the only reason to say "seaworthy"? Unfortunately there are no references on the Internet to "seaworthy bass". Am I missing some other joke here?

This is the only Teen Girl Squad issue to date with no appearance of the man with the big mouth, unless you count Mrs. So-and-so-erson.

Math again (Declined)

"Smartly Pretty" is spelled all in math terms/symbols. Such as a plus sign in place of the "T" in Smartly. This is the second time in which Math has been connected to Teen Girl Squad, with the first example being in the email virus, in which the numbers of PI were an issue number.

The Bass Guitar turning into a shark is most likely a reference to the music video Soulbait by Code of Ethics, which features musical intruments turning into fish.

The Girls probably go to CGNU, where Strong bad is the principal.

  • Decline. It's been stated that they're in eighth grade (despite the "I'M FIVE YEARS OLDER AND IN COLLEGE!!!" from Cheerleader). The guitar rift in the backround of the Kissy Boots song is from Paranoid by Black Sabbath.

We don't know for sure if Cheerleader died. When something you own is destroyed, like say your guitar or the bass guitar you probably bought, you could say "aw crap," right? Just because the shark clearly shomped something ate something doesn't mean it was her life that she said aw crap over.we cannot make the assumption that all 4 girls are dead. -Helios Rex

Oh, yes we can! At the end, Cheerleader sang, "Everybody died 'cept me!!" The shark then chomped on something and Cheerleader said, "Aw, crap!" From this evidence, we can safely assume that the shark ate and killed Cheerleader.
