My comments

I'm 90% sure that's Heartbreaker, i listened to it twice to make sure, if this is true I would say that the 16 hour drumsolo is more of a reference to John Bonham's extensively long drum solos.

(What about Cheat Commandos?)

I don't count that, myself.

This is the only Teen Girl Squad issue to date with no appearance of the man with the big mouth.

What about Mrs. So-and-so-erson? --Jay 04:49, 17 Jan 2005 (MST)

actually, i believe the Kissyboots song is supposed to be Communication Breakdown, but the last three notes are faster than the rest...

Pinebark?

Anyone know what Pinebark is? I did a search online but came up with nadda.

I think it's just the bark of a pine tree...it makes sense, TGS 3? said that The Ugly One was "Actually Crazy"

Three-necked guitar?

I'm no guitar expert (heck, I HATE all genres of popular music), so I used Google. The only picture of a three-necked guitar I found had the three necks parallel. Both Cheerleader's guitar and the Future Retro guitar have the necks non-parallel. In fact, the necks are arranged quite similarly. I would say that HSR (the nonesuch of Flash cartoons) has made a definite reference to Animusic (the nonesuch of music). mathgrant 12:24, 17 Jan 2005 (MST)

Check out the pics here. --FortyTwo 12:29, 17 Jan 2005 (MST)
Uh-oh. Those are way too similar. Does that mean TBC made a reference to Steve Vai? KILL THEM! ANIMUSIC RULES! ALL OTHER MUSIC SUCKS! mathgrant 12:34, 17 Jan 2005 (MST)
Whoa, slow down there, hot tub. No need to foam at the mouth about this. --TheNintenGenius 15:34, 17 Jan 2005 (MST)

"Inexplicably"?

inexplicably drawn wearing a derby, sunglasses, a moustache, a tie, and smoking a cigar

That looked vaguely like a Blues Brothers reference to me. -- Cyrius 12:57, 17 Jan 2005 (MST)

You know, the Blues Brothers immediately sprang to mind (I'm from Chicago, after all), but neither of them had a moustache. I think it was just a general "I'm so cool" defacement from Strong Bad. -- FortyTwo 22:04, 17 Jan 2005 (MST)

Like I said, it was kind of vague. It seems too close to be a coincidence and yet too far to be deliberate. -- Cyrius 23:24, 17 Jan 2005 (MST)

I think she's trying to look like a cheesy manager for a rock band, kind like Colonel Tom Parker was for Elvis... maybe--Slackerboy 20:40, 21 Jun 2005 (UTC)

About the Goofs section

  • During Kissy Boots' first practice session, both What's Her Face and Cheerleader are playing basses, possibly Fender basses, judging from the arrangement of string keys.

It seems the 'goof' above is more of a (not so) fun fact rather than a mistake or goof. Can someone explain why there is a "goofs" section for a cartoon based a bunch of drawings supposedly from Strong Bad? I always considered goofs as something strictly associated with movies. That is, goofs are mistakes made during filming of a movie that aren't caught or fixed before the final version. --The Paper 15:29, 17 Jan 2005 (MST)

    • I didn't include the fact in question and did kinda wonder about its inclusion in the "Goofs" category. However, I did create the Fun Facts sub-categories, so I will defend the Goofs section in and of itself. A Goof is what happens when the Bros. Chaps make a mistake (not a Flash mistake, as that would be a Glitch, but a continuity or plot error). The above fact isn't really a "Goof", and I question that the twelve/twenty-sided die fact is a Goof (though it's closer), but yes, Goofs can and do happen in H*R cartoons. --Jay 15:37, 17 Jan 2005 (MST)

TGS Attends CGNU?

Was just wondering, since Strong Bad is the "prinicpal" of the school which the TGS attend, isn't it logical that they attend CGNU? --Gafaddict 23:48, 19 Jan 2005 (MST)

Interesting, but I would prefer a more concrete ref before making it cannon. They seem a bit young to be learning "Home Invasion." - Dr Haggis - Talk 16:54, 19 Jan 2005 (MST)

I would think that the CGNU plaque would be on the wall behind Strong Bad if it was. --Whaddaya Know Haddi-man? 16:11, 20 Jan 2005 (MST)

That seems questionable, since TGS are fictional, even in the already fictional H*R world. Kvb 17:26, 23 May 2005 (UTC)

I agree. I was gonna just remove the entry, but decided to reword it to say it's "unclear" if they attend CGNU. -- tomstiff 17:45, 23 May 2005 (UTC)

Drum solo

I think the anonymous edit placing John Bonham’s epic drum solo from The Song Remains the Same as being part of "Moby Dick" is correct. Any reference? I haven't seen the movie in ages. - Dr Haggis - Talk 22:36, 25 Jan 2005 (MST)

Whoops. I was the one who reverted that one. I didn't know there was a song by that title. I just know about the book, so it seemed odd to me to include Moby Dick in a fun fact such as that. Call me Ishmael. -- Tom 23:23, 25 Jan 2005 (MST)

Closed STUFF

Who's that Drummond? (DECLINED)

One of The Ugly One's drums bears the inscription, "Mr Drummond," who was a character in the 70's/80's TV show, Diff'rent Strokes. It may also have been a reference to Bill "King Boy" Drummond of the techno band The KLF. It may also be a reference to Ryan Drummond, who plays Sonic the Hedgehog in the newer games.

  • Decline. I really want these TTATOT facts to die. --Trogga 20:44, 2 May 2005 (UTC)
    • Second Yeah, TTATOT facts are really bad. I mean, if it's CERTAINLY a reference, it's one thing, but when there is "it also may have been", then it should be DELORTED! --acekirby13 20:47, 2 May 2005 (UTC)
  • Revise. Keep the Diff'rent Strokes reference. Trash the rest. -- tomstiff 20:49, 2 May 2005 (UTC)
    • Second I invented the term TTATOT, but I don't really know if this qualifies. TTATOT was mostly meant to cover cases where there are a BUNCH of potential things the fact could be referring to, for the same reasons, and they all have equal merit. These two alternatives are unrelated, and I don't think they have equal merit (the Diff'rent Strokes one looks MUCH more likely.) So anyway, yeah, there's my vote. --Jay (Talk) 21:02, 2 May 2005 (UTC)
    • Second. Definitely a Diff'rent Strokes reference. — It's dot com 16:32, 11 May 2005 (UTC)
  • Decline all 3. Drummond is a somewhat common last name, as this fun fact itself seems to indicate. I don't think it was intended to be a reference at all. They probably just wanted to be silly and give the drum a name that had the word "drum" in it. --Beatfox 21:52, 3 May 2005 (UTC)
    • Second TBC does like to be silly with their names, such as their Bill Bellamy schoolbell. While the bell is a specific reference, I'm sure any name with "bell" would have worked. - Song from 60s 04:11, 11 May 2005 (UTC)

Who's that Drummond? Redux (Accepted)

"Mr Drummond" refers to Philip Drummond, a character in the '70s/'80s TV show Diff'rent Strokes.

  • Accept. Resubmitted the de-TTATOT-ized fact with the most likely reference. -- tomstiff 16:16, 3 Jun 2005 (UTC)
  • Accept. Definitely Diff'rent Strokes. — It's dot com 23:43, 3 Jun 2005 (UTC)
  • Accept This sounds like exactly the sort of thing TGS would reference. -- Tony Stony 20:03, 5 Jun 2005 (UTC)
  • Whatchoo talkin' 'bout, Accept? Was he ever called "Mr. Drummond"? --TROGGA! 00:05, 6 Jun 2005 (UTC)
    • Oh yes. Mr. Drummond didn't officially adopt the boys until mid-second season, at which point they started calling him Dad. Until then, they called him Mr. Drummond or "Mr. D". — It's dot com 00:35, 6 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Fender Guitars

During Kissy Boots' first practice session, both What's Her Face and Cheerleader are playing basses, possibly Fender basses, judging from the arrangement of string keys.

  • Rewrite. The machine heads (tuning keys) on Cheerleader's guitar definitely suggest Fender, but Fender never made guitars with bodies in the Flying V shape -- that shape suggests Gibson (or possibly Epiphone, who make the first good knockoff). It does appear to be a four-string bass, since during the concert, Cheerleader plays (or pretends to play) a multinecked guitar with six machine heads per neck, so it's not just Strong Bad's artistic license. What's her face's guitar (which is, interestingly, left-handed) is much more likely to be a Fender. -- 70.19.78.90
  • Epiphone is owned by Gibson, numbnuts. Therefore, no knockoffs. It's the same guitar. - badamn_187

Facty's Big Chance (DECLINED)

Fatty's Big Chance could be a reference to the Goonland character "Fatty Big Eye" which looks similar to Fatty's Big Chance.

  • Decline. The names look the same. The characters do not. -- tomstiff 18:55, 21 Apr 2005 (UTC)
    • OT Comment (wasn't sure where to put this). Tomstiff, when you make an edit, you might want to try writing your summary after the asterisk-slash rather than before it. Otherwise, when you click on the entry's arrow on the history page, it won't take you to the proper section on the (rather lengthy) STUFF page. --Beatfox 22:43, 21 Apr 2005 (UTC)
  • Big Fat Decline. --Beatfox 21:45, 21 Apr 2005 (UTC)
  • "insert-random-flash-only-you-know-about" is not a valid source for TBC to reference. Hup Hup, Decline Dasrik 03:32, 22 Apr 2005 (UTC)
    • Second. I remember reading TBC don't watch other flash cartoons. I'll put a link to the interview here as soon as I find it. Kvb 14:47, 23 Apr 2005 (UTC)
    • They DO watch other Flash cartoons, but "Fatty Big Eye"?! More like "Fatty Big Decline"!! --Trogga 16:27, 25 Apr 2005 (UTC)
  • Decline Just the word Fatty, I don't think so.

Truk (DECLINED)

In the "Easter Egg" from the exclamation point at the end of episode 8, we see Tompkins wearing a shirt that says "Truk." Truk is the name of a Pacific atoll inhabited by Polynesian peoples. Truk was newsworthy in the 70's for the gang violence there.

  • Decline. This reference is in no way relevant to TGS or H*R. It's explained in the transcript that "Truk" is a misspelling of "truck" as a caption to the poorly-drawn truck on Tompkins shirt. --TheEggman 23:00, 14 Mar 2005 (MST)

Soofa Group? (DECLINED)

The page title "soopa group" is a stretch, but could possibly be a reference to SoofaGroup (http://www.freewebs.com/soofagroup/index.htm). At least that's the only thing that makes any remote sense, and it's doubtful that Soof took their name from this toon.

  • Decline. Or it could just be a silly-slash-funny mis-spelling with no referrence to the real-world. -- tomstiff 08:30, 24 Mar 2005 (MST)
    • Second It's most likley a play on the words "Super Group". --acekirby13 19:24, 24 Mar 2005 (MST)
      • Third'd I've heard, seen and read Soopa used as Super before. Kvb 04:00, 6 Apr 2005 (MDT)
  • Decline You should have stopped at "stretch" and just hit the back button. Dasrik 20:49, 10 Apr 2005 (MDT)

The Intercom (Declined)

The Intercom, who introduces the battle of the bands, may be a reference to Saved by the Bell, where the character Screech creates a similar-looking robot friend.

  • Decline. This seems like a real stretch. Sometimes an intercom is just an intercom. -- tomstiff 08:44, 24 Mar 2005 (MST)
  • Accept. TBC watch SBTB. --Trogga 20:13, 29 Mar 2005 (MST)
  • Decline TBC may watch it. But I still think it's far fetched. Kvb 14:40, 1 Apr 2005 (MST)

Same subject different reference

  • The speaker box as the robot's head may be a reference to Roundhouse, an early '90s Nickelodeon skit comedy show.
    • Why was this simply removed instead of getting properly stuffed? Revision as of 16:38, 5 Apr 2005 - 192.156.234.137

Guitar -> Shark (Declined)

The only possible interpretation of the guitar turning into a shark is that a bass (guitar) is being confused with a bass (fish)? Which would be the only reason to say "seaworthy"? Unfortunately there are no references on the Internet to "seaworthy bass". Am I missing some other joke here?

Or SB's overactive imagination. After all, giant brain machines, suns becoming buzzsaws, and man-eating drums are the norm in TGS... --Jay 22:45, 18 Jan 2005 (MST)
  • Decline. It's not a reference to anything, it's just a regular TGS bizzarre occurrence. --Upsilon
    • Second. Kilroy/talk[[]] 20:16, 21 Jan 2005 (MST)
    • Second Kamek 11:47, 24 Jan 2005 (MST)
  • Also the fish the bass (guitar) turns into is a shark, not a bass (fish) Declineevin290 06:54, 24 Jan 2005 (MST)
    • Though technically a shark isn't a fish, but a mammal.
      • Psst... that's whales. Sharks are very much fish. (Not as though that makes this fact any more viable.) --Jay 15:41, 6 Feb 2005 (MST)
      • So I've been misinformed all along, thx for clearing it up for me.

You Big Mouth! (Declined)

This is the only Teen Girl Squad issue to date with no appearance of the man with the big mouth, unless you count Mrs. So-and-so-erson.

  • Decline. I'm the one who put this one on here. On Arrow'd Guy character page, it clearly says that he is Mrs. So-and-so-erson. --evin290
    • But on the Mrs. So-and-so-erson page, it clearly says that she bears a striking resemblance to the Man with a Huge Mouth. And their synonymity is currenrly being disputed on both Talk:Mrs. So-and-so-erson and Talk:Arrow'd Guy. I vote we abstain from voting until a consensus is reached. --Upsilon
      • Correction: it USED to say she bears a striking resemblance. Somebody decided to remove that text that I added. --TheNintenGenius 14:13, 20 Jan 2005 (MST)
        • Well, it seems pretty presumptuous to me. I'm going to change the page to NPOV until we agree over whether they're the same. --Upsilon 09:49, 21 Jan 2005 (MST)
  • Decline. I must agree. Actually, I added the "unless you count Mrs. So-and-so-erson" after the fact was added, mostly for that very reason. --Jay 20:35, 17 Jan 2005 (MST)

Math again (Declined)

"Smartly Pretty" is spelled all in math terms/symbols. Such as a plus sign in place of the "T" in Smartly. This is the second time in which Math has been connected to Teen Girl Squad, with the first example being in the email virus, in which the numbers of PI were an issue number.

  • Decline/Rewrite. I don't think there's so much a connection between TGS and math; the band name has to do with So and So's being "math crazy." --FortyTwo 17:59, 17 Jan 2005 (MST)
    • How about: "Smartly Pretty is spelled with Math terms, which shows So and So's math obsession." --BegyLips
      • Second that. Kilroy/talk[[]] 20:17, 21 Jan 2005 (MST)
  • Why not just put it on So and So's bio page as a character quirk? Donny vs Universe
  • Decline. So-and-So is just a nerd. Not notable. --Upsilon
    • Second. Ian 20:37, 22 Jan 2005 (MST)
    • Second Kamek 11:52, 24 Jan 2005 (MST)

Soulbait (Declined)

The Bass Guitar turning into a shark is most likely a reference to the music video Soulbait by Code of Ethics, which features musical intruments turning into fish.

  • I know everybody wants to see their favorite band/reality TV series/collectible card game/leg referenced by TBC, but I'm just not believing that TBC were really making a direct reference to an obscure '90s Christian rock band that doesn't have so much as its own web site. — InterruptorJones[[]] 21:52, 17 Jan 2005 (MST)
    • Second. That is, Decline for reasons stated above. -- FortyTwo 22:00, 17 Jan 2005 (MST)
    • Second. But if this one gets removed, we're going to seriously have to take a look at some of the other Real life references that DID make the list (like the Saved by the Bell and Nickelodeon ones) that have even less to go on. - Donny vs Universe
    • If you think other facts should be removed, Donny, then put them on this page. — InterruptorJones[[]] 12:19, 18 Jan 2005 (MST)
    • Meh, doesn't matter that much. But if you are going to dismiss someone's fun fact on the grounds that its obscure, it really is only fair to go after equally obscure ones.Donny vs Universe
    • Decline for reasons stated above. Kamek 11:54, 24 Jan 2005 (MST)
  • Accept Makes sense to me--205.174.123.14 14:33, 21 Jan 2005 (MST)

CGNU (Declined)

The Girls probably go to CGNU, where Strong bad is the principal.

  • Decline. It's been stated that they're in eighth grade (despite the "I'M FIVE YEARS OLDER AND IN COLLEGE!!!" from Cheerleader). At most, they're at the didn't-exist-until-I-started-typing-just-now Crazy Go Nuts Prep Academy, but it's much more likely that Strong Bad was just writing himself in to be cool. -- FortyTwo 18:56, 22 Jan 2005 (MST)
  • Decline., as CGNU is meant to be a college of some sort (thus the "university").# Donny vs Universe
  • Rewrite, accept. I think this is clearly a reference to Strong Bad being the principal of CGNU. Perhaps saying something about that without saying that they go there would be more appropriate. 209.175.21.2
    • Second It's more of a reference to Strong Bad being the prinicpal of CGNU. :) Seriously though, this is a legitimate reference - the misspelling of "principal" is intentional. Perhaps a reference to the misspelling in the CGNU e-mail should go on the TGS8 page, while a mention of Strong Bad being "prinicpal" at both CGNU and the school attended by TGS should go on Strong Bad's bio page. --TheEggman 00:42, 13 Feb 2005 (MST)
  • Unsure CGNU could offer 8th grade as well as 9-12, seeing as how some American schools offer that for certain financial reasons. -Walking Armless

Kissy Boots guitar riff

The guitar rift in the backround of the Kissy Boots song is from Paranoid by Black Sabbath.

But Only 3 Die!

We don't know for sure if Cheerleader died. When something you own is destroyed, like say your guitar or the bass guitar you probably bought, you could say "aw crap," right? Just because the shark clearly shomped something ate something doesn't mean it was her life that she said aw crap over.we cannot make the assumption that all 4 girls are dead. -Helios Rex

Oh, yes we can! At the end, Cheerleader sang, "Everybody died 'cept me!!" The shark then chomped on something and Cheerleader said, "Aw, crap!" From this evidence, we can safely assume that the shark ate and killed Cheerleader. This is ironic because she celebrates the fact she didn't die...before being eaten by a shark! - The Chort 15:13, 21 Aug 2005 (UTC)
