Ding! TV Time Toons Menu is a featured article, which means it showcases an important part of the Homestar Runner body of work and/or highlights the fine work of this wiki. We also might just think it's cool. If you see a way this page can be updated or improved without compromising previous work, feel free to contribute.

Contents

[edit] No .exe

The computer shown in this section is the Tandy 400, which never had a ".exe" extension.

[edit] Another page?

I noticed that we have the earlier TV guide menu simply listed in the "Triva" section. Should it get its own page? -- Tom 17:36, 20 Mar 2005 (MST)

[edit] Contrast

In the old toons menu, you can scroll over "Strong Bad Email" and click on the contrast buttons but nothing happens.--oopsyoubwokeit 16:52, 28 Mar 2005 (MST)

[edit] an html link...

Sup. What is that swf for the silent Sbemail? I really wanna know! --Homfrog 23:32, 24 May 2005 (UTC)

  • Did you check Secret Pages? If it's the "salty plum soda" email, it's here. (It can also be seen by hovering over "Strong Bad Emails" on the Toons page. --Jay (Talk) 23:41, 24 May 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Easter Eggs

I think the tool the painter is using is not a chisel, but a spatula. A weird brush would be more logical, but it does look awfully metalic... Also, there are animations for all three bottom buttons on hover, not just the strong bad email one.

  • It's actually supposed to be a pallete knife. Bob Ross used them all the time on his show to make mountains and such.

Also to mix colors.

[edit] Justify channel ID explanations

Okay, 66.41.150.114. First of all, welcome! Why don't you create an account or log in. Second, talk about why the channel IDs need to be explained. — It's dot com 02:22, 27 Aug 2005 (UTC)

My argument isn't that they shouldn't (or should) be explained; it's that I don't believe that this is the page to do it. (I already brought this up on Anonny's talk page.) --Jay (Talk) 02:25, 27 Aug 2005 (UTC)
I like your solution on Toons, Jay. I'm gonna try something... — It's dot com 03:02, 27 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Ooh. I like your idea better. --Jay (Talk) 03:17, 27 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Yeah, I'm pleased that it turned out well. I was concerned that the two-line format would make it more difficult for a user trying to find a toon. — It's dot com 03:20, 27 Aug 2005 (UTC)

We do good work, Jay. I think we just meant to give input (at least I did), but we ended up commandeering the project! Oops! — It's dot com 03:49, 27 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Ah well. At least a few of them, I needed to refer to the old version. Well, YHO, maybe CFB? (I'd already read that one), anyway... (I'd already looked over his list, so I can't say which ones I wouldn't have guessed on my own.) I hope he's not too insulted by that. --Jay (Talk) 03:51, 27 Aug 2005 (UTC)
It's win–win. He can count it as a contribution for thinking of the idea. The wiki and its users get the info. We got to play with code. All in all, a good night. — It's dot com 03:56, 27 Aug 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Rename

I suggest a rename to TV Time Toons Menu to conform to the pattern of naming:

(Also similar to the method of naming the Game Menu articles.) —BazookaJoe 01:06, 16 July 2006 (UTC)

Hm... sounds like a good idea to me. Should we make Toons Menu a redirect to here or a dis. page? Rogue Leader / (my talk) 02:00, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
I'm going to say redirect it, at least for now (there are a lot of redirects to semi-necessarily repair). I could go for a disambig just as well. No, now I'm leaning toward a redirect to the current toons menu. Disambig wouldn't be so bad, once we make the sick redirects better. We should do whatever we do with Games Menu too. —BazookaJoe 02:06, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
I'll go ahead and make Toons Menu a disambiguating page. — Lapper (talk) 20:38, 16 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Picture in the static

There is a picture in the static when you scroll over 'new stuff.' Can anyone tell what it is? — 72.79.44.215 (Talk | contribs) 05:34, 25 September 2007 (UTC) (left unsigned)

[edit] marzipan easter egg

I'm pretty sure marzipan is saying "bob ross" over and over

Yeah, Me Too. "Bob Ross, Bobross! A Bob Ross." -- Gfdgsgxgzgdrc 22:41, 25 May 2011 (UTC) (P. S. Bob Ross)

[edit] Possible glitch?

Okay, my friend told me that he had left the toon menu untouched for a few minutes and the menu had turned into the old one! (the one with the small, black remote) I haven't tried it yet, but have any of you guys come across that? This is A Website (T/C) 18:22, 25 January 2010 (UTC)

My friend told me that if you put an apple on your windowsill at the full moon and leave it for exactly a month, the fairy spirit will come grant you any one wish. I wished for a clean windowsill. In other words, friends make up all sorts of weird stories about things. I looked at the flash file, and there are no extra frames on it waiting to change to the old menu. Sounds like your friend was pulling your leg. — Defender1031*Talk 11:29, 26 January 2010 (UTC)

[edit] I think I found a glitch

I am using Firefox, and when I roll over the items in the new stuff menu quickly multiple times, that will crash the flash file for the toons menu itself. Does this happen for anyone else here using Firefox? --81.214.210.220 16:05, 16 May 2017 (UTC)

That sounds more like a glitch in a particular version of Flash Player than it does a glitch in the SWF. As such, it would not be noteworthy anyway. — Defender1031*Talk 16:35, 16 May 2017 (UTC)
