Forgive me if this was addressed ages ago, but somebody tried adding Secretary of the Posterior to the list of ranks and got immediately rv'd.  I did some looking around and [http://www.telltalegames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6686 found this] at the Telltale Forums.  I guess replaying the game would be needed to get to the bottom of things, so does anyone want to help?  — [[User:Ngamer01|Ngamer01]] 17:09, 19 January 2011 (UTC)

Possible Name Move

Since the title spelling is based on the IGN article, it's not clear if it should be Strongbadia the Free or Strong Badia the Free. Strong Bad has said it should be two different words in the past. Should we move the article now, or wait until official confirmation? wbwolf (t | ed) 13:49, 27 July 2008 (UTC)

I would like to move the article now. After IGN.com errored in at least 2 DVD reviews and despicably boasted about SBCG4AP coming July 21, I can't trust the name they gave this game BBG 19:12, 27 July 2008 (UTC)
I would suggest waiting it out until we have a clearer picture of this. Our only source uses this spelling, so we ought to keep it until something clearer shows up (such as releases from Telltale or TBC). Heimstern Läufer 21:23, 27 July 2008 (UTC)
It's "Strong Badia the Free," unless we are feeling really desperate and non-canon and remove the space for character-length reasons or something horrible. The in-game logo for the episode, much like the stop sign from which it came, reads "Strong Badia," though. TTGJake 06:05, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the info, Jake. I've fixed accordingly. Heimstern Läufer 06:54, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

KOT??

I noticed that there are few moments on the website where the KOT actually acts like a king. This is one of those few... Anyone else noticed that? senorsmallws7.png Parrothead1 senorsmallak8.png 17:53, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

Not really, seeing as this isn't actually on the website.
Joanassie 03:41, 25 September 2008 (UTC)

Homsar?

He isn't in the preview, what's the source that he's definitely in the game? Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 17:16, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

IGN's sneak peak lists him being in it. - OkayGraphics 17:17, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

Possible costume pieces?

I'm thinkin' the Dangeresque glasses will be available. Other items might include: Lotionman, The hor-ned helmet, Ab-abber markings, Freshley's shoeboxes, and Strongbad's snowflake shirt from happy dethemberween. amirite?

This is all speculation. --DorianGray 22:03, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

IGN's pictures

Here. Most notably, Homsar is in one of 'em. --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 22:42, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

Spoiler warning?

Over on the Telltale forum, Strong Badia the Free's lead designer, Chuck Jordan, cautioned against reading IGN's hands-on article, due to it giving away more than it should have. Do you guys ever tag previews of unreleased material with spoiler warnings or anything like that? TTGJake 16:34, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

I just put up some type of spoiler warning near the link. There's probably a better way to word it, though. DevonM(talk·cont-ribs) 16:51, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

Date

I heard its coming 9/15

Meaningless unless you have a source to cite. OptimisticFool 22:33, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

ign IS MY SOUCRE in the hands on and on the game page at it too.

Ah, but what's IGN's source? It's possible that they're just estimating (September 15 roughly one month after Homestar Ruiner's release.) Homestar Ruiner came much later than expected, remember. --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 22:01, 3 September 2008 (UTC)

I SAID IN THE HANDS ON PREVIEW AT PAX 08

I was at PAX '08 too, but I don't remember seeing anything about the 15th. Do you have any evidence? We're not saying you're wrong, just that we need some kind of verifiability. --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 00:56, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

If anyone told someone a date at PAX, it probably wasn't a Telltale employee. We haven't announced the date because we don't know the exact date. The moment we have a confirmed launch date agreed upon by everybody, we post it to the Telltale blog and forum -- and Telltale or Nintendo of America will always be the first people to post an accurate release date for an SBCG4AP episode. IGN, for instance, often lists a random date just to fill their database, but that information is usually just made up by someone taking a guess when updating their game database, and isn't based on reality. TTGJake 04:18, 8 September 2008 (UTC)

FYI, IGN sid it is the 14th, not 15th. DrPepper42 13:35, 8 September 2008 (UTC)

HEY THE DATE IS right yes in your faces YEAH!

We really don't need you to shout at the other users. And yes, it's confirmed. [1] --Mario2.PNG Super Martyo boing! 22:08, 13 September 2008 (UTC)
There's nothing "in our faces". We never said it wasn't the fifteenth. We were asking for evidence, which didn't show up until yesterday or so. And gloating is a poor way of staying on others' good sides. --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 23:49, 13 September 2008 (UTC)

Sorry!

Keep it in the forums next time. That Game Dude 386 22:50, 29 September 2008 (UTC)

Played around with it a little, and...

I'm at work now so I didn't get far, but I still have the following queries and requests:

  1. Will we list the reponses pages by the normal names of the locations (such as Strong Badia the Free Responses (House of Strong)) or by their SBtF names (in this case, Strong Badia the Free Responses (Bleak House))?
  2. I propose a page on the Homsar Reservation.
  3. Will it be Strong Badia the Free Teen Girl Squad, Strong Badia the Free Cave Girl Squad, or just Cave Girl Squad? Whatever the case, the other two should be redirects.

-- Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 18:18, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

I think we should use the place names as they appear on the map in each particular game, and maybe create redirects for consistency if it's different. I'm not sure if we really need redirects even. I also think I'll stop reading the wiki now until I've played the game.  Green Helmet 18:54, 15 September 2008 (UTC)
I think the TGS page should just be titled Cave Girl Squad. The one in Homestar Ruiner was only titled as it is, because it had no specific name. For the responses, there should be ones for Strong Badia (including all The Field areas), Bleak House, Homsar Reservation, Pompomerania, Country, Marzistar, and whatever the castle is called.
Also, should the tutorial be moved to its own page instead of leaving it on the Homestar Ruiner responses? As far as I'm aware, it's the same in both games... CloneWarrior 04:07, 16 September 2008 (UTC)
Yes the tutorial is exactly the same in this game as it was in the first. So, it should probably be pulled out of Homestar Ruiner and put someplace common between the games, or on it's own page.  Green Helmet 04:13, 16 September 2008 (UTC)

I simply fixed the mis-spellings up on this page, but doing that may have removed a few links. I hope It's not that big of a problem! Mas12806 17:20, 30 September 2008 (UTC)

Should Strong Badia/The Cheat and Tireia and Concessionstantinople have separate responses pages, or be put together? The only reason I ask at all is because Strong Badia was fairly important to the plot, and had at least one cutscene, It might be too crowded to Field them all together. --DorianGray 07:06, 16 September 2008 (UTC)

The Cheat and Tirerea? No. Concessionstan(tinople; it's called both)? Maybe, but realize that there's an entire rest of The Field there too. --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 07:09, 16 September 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, hence the slash. Whichever the Field and Concessionstantinople become, separate or together, Strong Badia and The Cheat and Tireia should be together. --DorianGray 07:19, 16 September 2008 (UTC)
Though when I think about it, what DOES happen in Strong Badia besides a short portion of the intro and the scene with The Cheat and Tireia? Frankly, that's probably less than takes place in Marzistar or Bleak House. Though while we're on the subject, another thing occurred to me (that would not have occurred to me when I made this topic as I hadn't managed to get that far yet ;): the strategy segment at the end. Lump it with The Castle or make it separate? --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 07:25, 16 September 2008 (UTC)
Oh, yeah, totally. The board game, I think, should definitely be a separate page. It's a full interactive game in itself, rather different than the last minigame (the Race to the End of the Race), where the only obstacles to victory (after extensive cheating) was timing. This one, though, is a whole, separate game that requires its own strategies and can really depend on the player's own skill and tactics. It also has its own responses and dialogue within the game, and doesn't last 22 seconds or less like the Race does. In fact, I actually have a board game just like it in real life. It definitely deserves its own page, I say. --DorianGray 07:35, 16 September 2008 (UTC)

Re: Splitting The Field into different parts: The cut-scene that occurs in Strong Badia actually gets transcribed on the Bleak House response page, because that is where it begins. It makes sense to leave the transcript whole on the page where the scene starts, rather than split it mid-cut-scene. So there's even less that's in Strong Badia's section. I think that the main and secondary sections in the TOC of The Field is complete now, and it doesn't seem like it's going to be overly long.  Green Helmet 06:11, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

How long to wait?

I've noticed a ton of Inside References and Real-World References in playing through the game, but most of them would be spoilers. How long should we wait before compiling a list? TJDevil02

Go for it. --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 22:50, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

Battle Royale, really?

I think the exploding-collar-on-a-prisoner reference might be more likely from Wedlock, a horrible movie with Rutger Hauer (IMDB link: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0103239/) Of course, it depends on what the collar looks like, I'd imagine.

I'd say it's more of a Running Man reference. Since they wore the collars in a prison and if you ran past a certain part the head would explode.

So what's the story?

For anyone that has downloaded it already, will it replace the current Homestar Ruiner channel? Will all the episodes be condensed into one channel or will they each have their separate channel? Can anyone clear this up for me? Thrashmeister 00:19, 16 September 2008 (UTC)

Separate channels. --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 00:22, 16 September 2008 (UTC)
Also, the clothes you've collected in Homestar Ruiner will be transferred to Strong Badia the Free. Just check the photo booth. --FlapperPrower 19:14, 16 September 2008 (UTC)
Apparently even if you didn't play Homestar Ruiner you have all of that episode's costume items. Joanassie

Cave girl Squad

Can someone post the solution? -Philip8o

Still trying to sort it out. I know you get laughs, rather than chuckles, when you:
  1. Give a girl a dinosaur egg in the first phase and let her live through the end of the third phase.
  2. Give a girl the tablet and chisel, in that order. Might need to be done after the first phase.
  3. Give the dog during the third phase.
  4. Give any girl Charles Darwin in the final stage (I'm pretty sure the final stage only happens if all the girls are dead before then.)

Oddly, with four laughs and one chuckle, I still got "perfection". The chuckle-death I got on "perfection" involved giving the ribbon during the third phase. Most of the responses are not girl-specific as far as I can tell. So and So reacts differently to the wheel than the others, but I haven't achieved a death out of it. --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 06:32, 16 September 2008 (UTC)

Okay, I give up. Where's an Egg? TJDevil02

виновник. Okay, seriously, try using your lighter on the barred window in the Bleak House. --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 19:21, 16 September 2008 (UTC)
Oh, and I've since learned that you have to use the wheel on So and So during the third phase to get a laughing death. However, this did not increase my score even when I got all five laughs; four laughs and a chuckle was apparently enough for a perfect score. --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 19:24, 16 September 2008 (UTC)

giving so-and-so the wheel during the third scene gets a full laugh. but you can get max points without doing that.65.101.85.104 01:25, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

(Here's a quick way to get a max score.) Even with the hints above I had to waste a couple objects and didn't know how to use certain things without a Teen Girl dying.. so.. First scene: Egg to Chearleader, Machine Gun to anyone.. Second scene: Tablet to What's Her Face, Chisel to What's Her Face.. Third scene: Dog to The Ugly One, Alien to anyone, Wheel to So and So.. Fourth scene: Darwin to anyone.. It's over! OptimisticFool 08:12, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

Do I Smell A Zelda Reference?

Could Homsar talking about the three tasks and disappointing end cutscene and a "boy of legend" be a Legend of Zelda ref? SuperfieldCreditUnion

I think it's more a reference to that whole genre Unknownwarrior33 02:45, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

Locations

I suggest we make a seperate page for the locations in this episode. On it would be a table that would have:

Character | Country Name | Actual Place

Or something like that at the top. Comments? DrPepper42 08:41, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

I think a Countries in Strong Badia the Free page would work quite well. It'd be a nice place to detail all the info gleaned from the game, including ones that don't fit into the plot, such as Coachnya. --DorianGray 08:56, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
Okay, okay. Should I make a subpage in my userspace for development of the page? DrPepper42 11:24, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

Je ne pense pas

  • "Roi" is French for "King", thus explaining the pseudonym "Roy T."

I think the french is dubious. Roi is pronounced something like rwah, so any connection is only visual -- and it just seems like a stretch to me. For what it's worth, I thought Roy T was a sound-alike play on Royalty.  Green Helmet 04:14, 19 September 2008 (UTC)

I dunno, the visual connection seems reasonable to me. Sure, "oi" sounds different in French than English, but the written similarity between them, plus the fact that T is the first letter in "Town", it the one explanation I can think of for why "Roy T." = "King of Town". Heimstern Läufer 14:00, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
Roy is obviously short for "royalty", a synonym for "King" or "ruler". T. is town. King of Town. There. That Game Dude 386 22:58, 29 September 2008 (UTC)

Reference to Native Americans?

Did anyone else see the Homsar Reservation and Homsar's "normal" voice as a stereotypical reference to Native Americans? Would it be worth mentioning in the article? Thrashmeister 03:12, 20 September 2008 (UTC)

Definitely! Joanassie 18:57, 20 September 2008 (UTC)

Reproducable glitches

I'm playing the PC version, and I couldn't reproduce the strange-Strong-Bad-costume glitch. Has anyone else encountered this one? --Lukeonia1 10:03, 21 September 2008 (UTC)

Actually, I have the Wii version, and that buzzing thing while trying to save happened to me. Except I was in the King of Town's castle with no costume items on in Extended Play. I think I just got Extended Play and was trying to save it to my file I'd been playing on, and when it opened in the KoT castle, I tried to save and it buzzed. I repeated it two or three times and it still did that. I think I went to Bleak House and saved, and it worked. SuperfieldCreditUnion

strong badia shirt glitch?

"Digging up the Strong Badia shirt will cause another hole to appear in Strong Badia, in front of the flagpole, near the cinder block." I'm not entirely sure of this. There is another buried item legitimately in this approximate location. I'm thinking... not a glitch. Has anyone been able to reproduce this? --Blu Aardvark (talk) (edits) 17:34, 25 September 2008 (UTC)

Yes, I have been able to. In fact, I haven't been able to NOT replicate it. There's two items in and around Strong Badia, the war medals shirt (just outside of Strong Badia to the left) and the power strip (right part of Strong Badia). But there's three holes: those two, and another one where you say it is. I've used the Detector on that spot before the hole came up, and it didn't do anything. So it really is a glitch (I think it's the hole from Homestar Ruiner that was mistakenly carried over). SuperfieldCreditUnion

Maps and Minions Deluxe Glitch

WARNING: This one will lock up the game. And I ain't too good at describing this sort of thing.. so, just know that this works with any character combination.. but here's a simple way to do it: Move The Cheat from Dullsville to Scalding Lake. Now click on Homsar, then click Undo, then click Dullsville (where The Cheat will be standing again). The game allows Homsar to move to where The Cheat is standing, and the game locks up. Congrats! Now, will someone please help with the wording for the article? And can someone see if this happens on the Wii version as well? OptimisticFool 23:56, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

If it locks up, go get a Wii and kill it with your own money; the Wii's a lot more sensitive with Wiiware. That Game Dude 386 23:03, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
Uh... what? You can just unplug the Wii if it locks up... --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 23:10, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
I do that all the time, especially when my internet has not a good signal and I click a link when the page is still loading in Opera-style browsers for the Wii. Joanassie 21:41, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
It's just like those glitches in Homestar Ruiner where you had to unplug it if you ran it in widescreen sometimes. Nothing harmful. SuperfieldCreditUnion
Also, it doesn't freeze, Homsar and The Cheat (substitute with whichever rebels) just stand on the right side of the space as all rebels do in a territory fight, and you can undo it if you feel the need to. I checked just now. Like RIGHT just now! Joanassie 22:27, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
So yours is the Wii version, Joanassie? In the PC version, I could not undo it. OptimisticFool 02:34, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
Yes, quite. I believe the Wii can handle this, but I bo know why. Joanassie 17:17, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

Drive-Thru Whale's cryptic hints this time around?

If anyone could list the Whale's encryptically coded messages this time around, it would be much appreciated. Joanassie 22:29, 30 September 2008 (UTC)

We have a list of things said by The Whale here, but I don't think it's complete. The ones that are definitely cryptic hints that are known are:
  • "Get your lighter from the anvil, please."
  • "Pull forward for your metal detector."
  • "Would you like flaming skulls with that?" (STRONG BAD: You have to ask?)

Song Reference

Could the lyrics to the song Marzipan sings (and is also played over the end credits) be a reference to Bob Dylan's "Subterranean Homesick Blues"? I'm talking about the "Wind Blows" part. That's the first song i thought of when i first heard the end credits. 72.224.36.104 01:23, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure it's an allusion to any and all 60s protest songs. It reminds me of "One Tin Soldier" by Coven, especially the part when they sing something like "Come on children, gather round" and talk about what happens to people who go to war. Hot homestar 16:36, 27 November 2008 (UTC)

Snacky Blockquote, Anyone?

If the time comes for anyone to put up some more responses for The Castle, then one thing that would be needed would be a blockquote for the Snacky 186 emails and templates. I saw that it shares a similar screen interface with the Lappy, but what difference in coding would be required to set the two blockquotes apart? Rexy 12:22, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

Concessionstan bull, not Concessionstantinople

The game flips back and forth between "Concessionstan" and "Concessionstantinople", and indeed, Strong Bad even says both. As "-stan" is the ending of countries (Pakistan, Afghanistan, etc.) and "-stantinople" is the ending of a city (Constantinople), is it possible that Concessionstantinople is meant to be the "capital" of Concessionstan? Either way, I'm not sure why the Wiki seems to have become fixated on the longer one. --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 16:17, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

Maybe TBC just couldn't decide which one the liked better. Your explanation is reasonable, though I think it's a bit hard to say if it's actually the case. Are there any specific instances in the article(s) that you think should be switched? Heimstern Läufer 16:21, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
Just speaking generally. And was looking for opinions. --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 17:00, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
I'm fairly certain that the country is Concessionstan, and the capital is Concessionstantinople, and i thought this was the consensus that was reached (last october i guess). The Knights Who Say Ni 21:39, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

Leeroy Jenkins Reference?

I realized that when you talk to Homsar when you have the Homestarmy assembled, he'll say that he's the 'local Leeroy'. Could this be a reference to Leeroy Jenkins? Corruption 21:11, 26 October 2008 (UTC)

Unlikely. He actually says "I'm the local Leroy", which is a common enough name. With the different (and more typical) spelling and the lack of any other connection whatsoever, I doubt there's a reference. I've removed the fact from the page at least twice due to these reasons. --DorianGray 21:15, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
Sorry. I never use the subtitles unless I'm using the PC version, which I've only done once. I wouldn't know if it was Leroy or Leeroy. Thanks, though. Corruption 12:09, 30 October 2008 (UTC) P.S I was the one who did it once, before I got my account.
It's probably a reference to the ol' "Leroy wuz 'ere" thing. Mind you, the subtitles have made one or two errors on occasion, so I wouldn't put any reliance on the exact spelling it they use. --Belthazar 13:41, 30 October 2008 (UTC)

Kong-Quistador

I noticed the following fact:

  • One of Strong Bad's hints mentions "Kong-Quest", which happens to be part of the title of Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest.

This isn't on any of our responses pages. Kongtext (er, context)? --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 02:03, 16 December 2008 (UTC)

Only episode with all the main characters?

I don't think so, Homsar was in Homestar Ruiner; he wasn't seen in person, but his picture and voice were in the game. It also mentions that Homsar is absent from all the others, while he was in Baddest of the Bands. I believe that part should be edited to be less confusing. Shadoman 15:52, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

"Conquer all free nations"?

The article says this:

When conquering Pompomerania, an announcer declares that Strong Bad can conquer all the free nations. However, this is only true if the player conquers Bleak House and the Homsar Reservation first.

I have no idea what this is trying to say. At first I thought this meant that you can only conquer Concessionstan if you do Bleak House and the Homsar Reservation before doing Pompomerania. But now I think you can't conquer Concessionstan at all... - furrykef (Talk at me) 08:48, 5 January 2011 (UTC)

I think it's a poor and unnecessary fact regardless of how you look at it, but I think it's supposed to be saying that the announcer guy says that he can conquer all free nations "from Pompomerania", but you don't need to conquer Pompomerania in order to conquer the Bleak House and the Homsar Reservation. I guess. --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 17:04, 5 January 2011 (UTC)

Secretary of the Posterior

Forgive me if this was addressed ages ago, but somebody tried adding Secretary of the Posterior to the list of ranks and got immediately rv'd. I did some looking around and found this at the Telltale Forums. I guess replaying the game would be needed to get to the bottom of things, so does anyone want to help? — Ngamer01 17:09, 19 January 2011 (UTC)
