Ding! Strong Bad Sings and Other Type Hits is a featured article, which means it showcases an important part of the Homestar Runner body of work and/or highlights the fine work of this wiki. We also might just think it's cool. If you see a way this page can be updated or improved without compromising previous work, feel free to contribute.

We've not imported the lyrics for this CD from the old wiki. Is this intentional? I don't think there's any other source of the lyrics online. -- Mithent 11:46, 1 Oct 2004 (MST)

Nope, I think it's just laziness. Feel free to go for it. — InterruptorJones[[]]

I'm working on doing the lyrics to all the songs now (since the previous lyrics are now gone with the old wiki), but I'm wondering how I could best put the lyrics on the page. Any thoughts? --TheNintenGenius 13:59, 15 Oct 2004 (MST)

I suggest that the lyrics would go on separate pages with reciprocal links to this CD. See Strongbadia National Anthem. - Drhaggis 15:26, 15 Oct 2004 (MST)

Got everything except Nite Mamas and Sweet Cuppin' Cakes, as I'm having a hard time figuring out lyrics to those two. If someone else could do those, I'd be very grateful. --TheNintenGenius 18:25, 15 Oct 2004 (MST)

I copied the stuff that was on these pages in the old Wiki. I think it's good. But take a look. -- Tom 18:50, 15 Oct 2004 (MST)
Looks good to me. If you have access to those old pages, maybe you could check some of the lyrics I wasn't sure on in some of the songs. Or at least tell me how I could access them to doublecheck. (I know there's some lyrics I didn't get) --TheNintenGenius 19:11, 15 Oct 2004 (MST)

Page name

I keep considering changing the name of this page to Strong Bad Sings and Other Type Hits, to fit the full name of the album. After all, the DVD set is listed under strongbad_email.exe, so I don't see why this page should be confined to just "Strong Bad Sings CD." Any thoughts? --TheNintenGenius 20:47, 24 Jan 2005 (MST)

Amazing the things that we've overlooked for so long. I don't see any problem with renaming it. -- Tom 20:55, 24 Jan 2005 (MST)
After having done all the moving work, I can see why nobody undertook the task before, since about a jillion pages linked using Strong Bad Sings CD. Yikes. At least now this page doesn't make me cringe every time I look at it. --TheNintenGenius 23:37, 24 Jan 2005 (MST)
Well done. -- Tom 23:40, 24 Jan 2005 (MST)

worth it?

Is it worth it to get this cd?

Yes!!!!!!!!!!! It awsom!!!!!! and it's not just old stuff it's almost all new!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This... doesn't exactly belong on the discussion page. — talk Bubsty edits 00:33, 21 December 2005 (UTC)

1.21 jigawatts? Great Scott!

Could the "70 jg" on the cd be an extension of Back to the Future's mispronunciation of Giga-? As in Jigabytes? —AbdiViklas 17:42, 25 November 2005 (UTC)

Well, it sounds plausible to me, although I may be biased as a long-time fan of the movies (as it mentions on my userpage)... Strong Bad does kinda use '80s terms. ("Japanimation", anyone?) I rather like it. --DorianGray

More People

I don't exactly know where to put this, so I'll put it here:
I recently got the Strong Bad Sings CD, and I noticed that in the back of that little book thing, there's about a million minor people that don't have any referance here on the wiki. Examples:
  • Nick Niespodziani
  • Matt Sonnickson
  • Eric Park
  • Rob Peck
Shouldn't these people, and others, have some referance here, or elsewhere on the wiki? — talk Bubsty edits 01:47, 17 January 2006 (UTC)
Maybe, but unless we know who they are or what they did, they wouldn't be of much use. I don't like it. SaltyTalk! 01:51, 17 January 2006 (UTC)
We could see if there's a place on the Contributors page. "These people helped with the Strong Bad Sings CD". --DorianGray
We do know what they did. It all says on the book... thing. And I like that idea Dorian. — talk Bubsty edits 02:00, 17 January 2006 (UTC)

Mystery Files?

Upon entering the CD into one's PC, there are 4 files visible; the QuickTime movie (These Peoples Try To Fade Me), a readme file and a couple of other files. I don't know what they're supposed to represent, if anything. Does anyone have any idea what they're on there for? Ppk01 20:38, 8 April 2006 (UTC)

If you'll hang on a few minutes, I'll try it. —AbdiViklas 20:39, 8 April 2006 (UTC)
The Readme simply says "If it don't work, go here and download the latest player: www.quicktime.com." Aside from the .mov, the other two files are hidden files named "Desktop DB" and "Desktop DF". I don't know a lot about these super boxes, but a quick web search shows at least that they have something to do with the Mac OS and keeping track of files on the desktop. Why they were included on the CD I'll have to leave to someone more knowledgeable. —AbdiViklas 20:47, 8 April 2006 (UTC)
From what i've noticed, mac os puts these on almost any disk you put in the computer. I guess maybe TBC burned the cd on a normal mac os computer, and then sent it to a company to have it mass produced? thats my guess.--- Image:Videlectrix man.sig.gif Collin - (T/C) 20:50, 8 April 2006 (UTC)

Maybe I'm just an idiot...

I can't find the freaking video! Anyone have any trouble shooting tips? I'm using Windows, but it doesn't auto-play. I go to my computer, click on SUPER_SECRETS, and it just opens media player and plays the music. 70.127.93.127 22:52, 24 April 2006 (UTC)

I dunno about Windows. Do you have a Mac? That's what I watched it on. Bluebry 23:00, 24 April 2006 (UTC)
Your computer's set up to play the CD automatically. Try right-clicking the Super Secrets link and choose "Explore". Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 23:12, 24 April 2006 (UTC)
Thank you so feaking much! It worked! 70.127.93.127 19:21, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

Is the BPM info really relevant/necessary? I don't object to it enough to revert without a discussion, but it seems unimportant to list. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 22:06, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
BPMs are helpful to DJs, and listing track times is standard practice on Wikipedia for album articles. --NERD42  email  talk   h²g²  pedia  uncyc  22:58, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
That's great, and I don't argue the track times, but how many DJs are consulting the wiki to use this disc in their mixes?? I really don't see the utility of this BPM info, it merely clutters the page. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 23:08, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

I was kind of thinking of people doing remixes over at the fanstuff wiki --NERD42  email  talk   h²g²  pedia  uncyc  18:18, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

Then list it over there. In fact, some are blatantly off. "Circles" is a slower song than "i think i have a chance with this guy", clearly, but the BPM is listed as higher. Seems the computer is picking whatever note value it wants, in "Circles the eighth (NOT the beat) and in "i think i have a chance with this guy" the quarter (which does get the beat). Also, "The Cheat Is Not Dead" has two tempos, the one at the start and the one at the end. Which is it, or does this program average them (which is useless for the application you describe). I still, after a lot of thought, feel this information isn't useful, and is actually misleading. Anyone object to me stripping this info? It is listed above, anyhow. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 18:42, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

Capitalization of track titles?

The capitalization of the track titles doesn't seem to match what's on the CD case ... I don't have time to fix it at the moment but I think the titles on here should be in the same case as on the CD case. --NERD42  email  talk   h²g²  pedia  uncyc  23:00, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

I disagree. The titles are capitalized one way on the back of the cxase, another when viewing the tracks in WMP or other software. Which is the correct way? As there's no real means to solve that dilemma, "correct" capitalization (according to how it's done as a rule) has been used to make it standardized. BTW, should the video be in the track listing? It cannot be played in a CD player. I can buy Secret Song, even though it does not appear in the listing on the CD, but the video should go. It's listed lower down anyway. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 23:12, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
I say, forget what the software says - there's no guarantee that TBC entered those titles in. We know that what's on the back of the CD was written by TBC. --NERD42  email  talk   h²g²  pedia  uncyc  18:33, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

Capitalization revisited

Isn't it Let's Get Started On Doing All Those Awesome Things I Suggested, with capital letters? Email Checkin' Dan 21:03, 5 September 2009 (UTC)

Nope. The CD's case has it in lowercase. --DorianGray 21:05, 5 September 2009 (UTC)
Then should we change the following?
  • Trogdor to TROGDOR
  • The System Is Down to The System is down
  • Oh yeah yeah to Oh Yeah Yeah
  • Nite Mamas to NITE MAMAS
  • You've got an Ugly & Stupid Butt to You've got an Ugly & Stupid BUTT
  • The theme from Dangeresque... to The theme from DANGERESQUE II...
  • The Cheat is Not Dead to THE Cheat is NOT DEAD
  • Everybody to the Limit [Live] to EVERYBODY TO THE LIMIT (Live)
Email Checkin' Dan 21:09, 5 September 2009 (UTC)
Well, should we move these? Email Checkin' Dan 21:22, 5 September 2009 (UTC)
Not yet. We wouldn't have put them where they are without a reason. This needs more investigation before we move them. — It's dot com 21:59, 5 September 2009 (UTC)
WHAT INVESTIGATION??? Email Checkin' Dan 22:01, 5 September 2009 (UTC)
There's absolutely no reason to be yelling. I'm not sure what you want me to say. Did you read my post above? When we set these pages up, we wouldn't have done so arbitrarily. When I say investigation I mean look at the wiki history and the CD itself and determine why the pages are where they are now. Only after we've had a chance to do that should we then consider moving them. — It's dot com 22:06, 5 September 2009 (UTC)
Yes, but, then why is Oh yeah yeah named the way it is? Email Checkin' Dan 22:22, 5 September 2009 (UTC)
That'd be one of the things we're investigating. --DorianGray 22:25, 5 September 2009 (UTC)
How's "investigating" coming along so far? Email Checkin' Dan 23:14, 5 September 2009 (UTC)
Dude, what's your rush? This article predates the current MediaWiki wiki, created over five years ago. There's no reason to get one's underpants tied in a knot just because we haven't resolved your question within two hours after you brought it up. — It's dot com 23:29, 5 September 2009 (UTC)
How much investigation is needed? By the time all 20 songs' history is read, we'll all forget about why we even looked through the history. So, I say, for consistancy's sake, we either, name them all properly, with Capital Letters Like So, or by the CD case and move the ones above. I think either way Oh yeah yeah should be moved to Oh Yeah Yeah. Email Checkin' Dan 21:30, 8 September 2009 (UTC)
Okay, it's been long enough, and no ones disagreed with me, so, I'm movin' Oh yeah yeah to Oh Yeah Yeah. Email Checkin' Dan 20:53, 12 September 2009 (UTC)
HELLO? THIS ISSUE IS STILL UNRESOLVED! Does this mean no one cares if I move them? SBE-mail Checker Dan (akka HRE-mail Checker Greg) 22:11, 29 November 2009 (UTC)
Okay, I'm moving them to the CD case version. SBE-mail Checker Dan (akka HRE-mail Checker Greg) 20:14, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
Well, this is great, now Jay is reverting all my moves AFTER I've moved them, but apparently no one cared BEFORE then. Now, can we finally reach "consensus" about what to do, or is the "investigation" still not finished. SBE-mail Checker Dan (akka HRE-mail Checker Greg) 20:31, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
Let me get this straight. People are telling you not to move the pages, you continuously ask whether you should move the pages, they consistently say "no", and then when you don't get a response, you take it to mean that they changed their minds and the answer has magically become "yes"? The only one I'm not reverting is "Sensitive to Bees", because that's really what the correct capitalization should look like. --Jay o'Lantern (Haunt) 20:32, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
They never said no. They said they'd "investigate", but apparently they either forgot, or really don't care. Besides, These peoples try to fade me is not even CLOSE to correct capitalization. SBE-mail Checker Dan (akka HRE-mail Checker Greg) 20:34, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
Dan gave a valid reason to want to move the pages and gave plenty of warning that he was going to do it. In my first post, I didn't say it shouldn't be done, only that it shouldn't be done yet. We asked him to wait to give us a chance to investigate. Well, we had our chance, but we never followed through. It's reasonable to ask him to wait two hours. It's not reasonable to ask him to wait three months. Since no one has put forth a solid argument why the pages should stay where they are, and since the back of the CD case is an official source, I see no reason why they shouldn't be moved (and I certainly see no reason to mass revert him after he'd already done it). — It's dot com 20:59, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
Does this mean I have to move them all over again? Can someone else do it for me? I've had enough of the thing with the letters and you have to type 'em in. (can't remember what it's called) SBE-mail Checker Dan (akka HRE-mail Checker Greg) 21:10, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
All right, sorry. The moves struck me as unnecessary and it looked to me like consensus was not to change. I also didn't look closely at the dates and thought this issue was days, not months, old. My apologies for the misunderstanding. --Jay o'Lantern (Haunt) 21:16, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
Looking at the articles as they are now, they look pretty sloppy. Maybe we should move them to proper grammer-type names, i.e. These People Try To Fade Me, I Think I Have A Chance With This Guy, ect. SBE-mail Checker Dan 01:59, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
So, what you are saying is, after that entire episode with you being 100% for the moving of the song's names, you want to change them all back? StrongAwesome 02:48, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
No, no. See, there were two options to moving them, With Correct Punctuation, or as the CD case depicts it. I never really asked which one the Wikians would prefer, so I just wanted to check back and see if anyone wants them with Correct Capitalization. SBE-mail Checker Dan 19:36, 26 January 2010 (UTC)

I don't think the "These peoples try to fade me" video is an easter egg. They tell you about it through the store. He can't say job. Don't say jorb 101 Seriously, he can't say job!

Yeah, it's not an easter egg. It's a Special Feature.
