I think it should be mentioned that the behavior of Gaspeau and Frotzer mimmics the behavior of the green koopa troopa and red koopa troopa in SMB, respectively. I've definitely opened a can of worms! ;) As for SBM2, I don't remember it much... it was all a dream to me ;) -- so I don't know if the colors were randomly generated or not. I'd have to crack open my old [[Wikipedia:Nintendo Power|Nintendo Powers]] and compare the behavior of the other enemies, but I don't have access to those right now. Am I the only one who noticed a similarity between level 8 and zero wing (The All Your Base game)?

No. I noticed.
The Cutscene before level -0 has Stinkoman say "What happens?" which is from the cutscene for Zero Wing 
(What happen? Somebody set us up the bomb!)
