This page was nominated for deletion by an anonymous user with the rationale "Generic, not h*r-specific, not notable" (this were the nominator's arguments; they are not necessarily my own). — It's dot com 21:49, 3 January 2019 (UTC)

The "not Homestar specific" argument is invalid in my opinion because it is a real world reference. StarFox 20:55, 4 January 2019 (UTC)
Considering that Nintendo, Texas Instruments, Linux and even Namco and Sega have articles, I see no reason not to include an article on Sony. Most of their products are iconic and significant enough to warrant inclusion in the wiki. --Stux 14:21, 5 January 2019 (UTC)
I agree. Don't you think I agree? I agree! Gfdgsgxgzgdrc 19:19, 5 January 2019 (UTC)
Thank you dotcom for starting this discussion. I'm the same anonny that nominated the page. First off, the argument that it's a generic, non Homestar-specific item is completely valid. In fact, we have a whole essay on the subject.
From the inclusion guidelines: "Page content relating to a very generic item or event: Needs at least five to ten appearances and must be of at least moderate importance to the work (i.e. not just in the background and never mentioned) in half of its appearances."
So for generic things to warrant pages, they should have a bare minimum of 5 appearances, and ideally between 5 and 10.
First off, the Betamax reference is dubious, and was only added to pages by the creator of this page at around the same time as its creation. I would argue that Strong Sad's VCR resembles this model by Phillips as much as any Sony Betamax. In short, it's just a nondescript tape player.
That leaves the other three instances listed, Walkmans, a Sony product referred two by names, and two passing references to things from Playstation. There's not a lot to connect the first two the other two. Most of the pages Stux listed are classic gaming companies. A more focused page on just Playstation would seem to fit better, but there are only 2 references to it. As it stands, Sony is just too broad and uninteresting to make a good page, and it falls short of the number of appearances to warrant one. -174.62.238.201 21:09, 5 January 2019 (UTC)
Any thoughts or rebukes? (Same annony) -107.77.76.88 21:34, 1 May 2019 (UTC)
I agree. Don't you think I agree? I agree! (Yeah, I changed my mind about this. Delete.) Gfdgsgxgzgdrc 01:36, 3 May 2019 (UTC)
