This poor page is orphaned, but seems to contain very useful information. Should it be linked to from the main page like Characters and Toons? Or is there some other index page that should link to it?

First, thanks for the complements. I didn't know anyone else read my little page. When I first made it, I had it linked to the main page, but Tom moved it to the downloads section (on the old wiki) because on the main site the only list of songs is in the download section. I'd like to see it linked from the main page again, but the admins know best. -FatPamPam

Hey, what about the Peter Frampton clip from the Strong Bad secret main page? That's a song. Probably. -- Thunderbird 21:35, 10 Nov 2004 (MST)

This is a wiki. Put it on there. -- FireBird|Talk

Y'know, this page is a bit unorganized. I think I'll alphabatize it. Do you think I should do it by the title of the toon or of the song? I'll do that tonight. --FatPamPam

Done. Oh, and I added that "Poot Slap" is on the SB Room Main page, in addition to the Luau. -FPP

Sweet! It's linked to from the main page! I'm so happy!- FatPamPam

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned anything yet about the absence of 'Strong Bad's Rhythm 'n' Grammar' from local news on the Songs page. -- TheEggman

Okay, done. But this is a wiki, so you could have done it just as easily :-). Oh, well. I do most of this page anyway. -FPP

Adding Files?

I uploaded a sound file to the wiki and I put it on here, but my edit was reverted. Why? Did I do something wrong? If so, I'm sorry... Tell me what happened please :-) →evin290 13:54, 31 Jan 2005 (MST)

I second her question (if there is such a thing); why was that reverted? -FatPamPam

I left a note on the sound file's talk page upon it's removal from this page. Pretty much, as I already told you, uploading sound files such as this violates The Brothers Chaps copyrights since it isn't fair use. -- Tom 22:45, 31 Jan 2005 (MST)
Oh! I misread your response on the FAQ talk page. I thought you said "I don't see why not" instead of "I don't see why." Whoops! Sorry about that. The reason I uploaded this particular file is becuase it is a full-length song that ISN'T gettable without watching the ENTIRE toon first. I uploaded it just incase anyone wants to listen to it without watching the toon first. I understand why it would break copyright laws to upload something from the CD or DVD, but what laws would giving away for free something that was given to you for free? I want to be as helpful as possible on the wiki and I've read the rules and such. I need to know what's wrong with this sort of thing. Thank you :-)→evin290 04:47, 1 Feb 2005 (MST)
Yeah, it's not really clear cut. That's why we try to play it safe by not reproducing stuff like that. -- Tom 23:15, 1 Feb 2005 (MST)
Alright - so I'll only add download files that are downloadable from the site. Okay :-) →evin290 04:30, 2 Feb 2005 (MST)
Just remember, files that are downloadable from the site should be externally linked to. We don't want to host the files, TBC do a fine job of that. -- Tom 09:20, 2 Feb 2005 (MST)
I think that's weird too; we can use copied pictures, words, and text, but not sound. --67.161.224.65
Hey, the "Wheat Grows Sweet" was a download from the site. It was a quote of the week a long time ago.
I used to have a link for that. I don't know why it was taken off. I just put it back on.
Perhaps I lost it when I transfered "Peasant's Quest" to the Gamses portion.
-FatPamPam

Any files that the Brothers Chaps have as mp3s on their site should be linked to directly from here. And the links should probably get their own column in the table. Who could possibly disagree with that??

What some might disagree with (but I don't) is I think it should be considered fair use if any sounds that are in a Macromedia Flash file are extracted and redistributed in the same way the Flash files are (i.e. for free) unless The Brothers Chaps object by writing us a letter. --NERD42  email  talk   h²g²  pedia  uncyc  16:10, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

Umm

Some of the links mainly the one with technochoclate and thinkiman don't work anymore.

Thing in a Bag song

There was that one "TV Show" song from "Thing in a Bag" there ... --NERD42  email  talk   h²g²  pedia  uncyc  18:14, 6 January 2006 (UTC)

Ooh! and the "Everybody Everybody" Christmas Remix from the end of "Oh Holy Crap" ... you know, during the credits. --NERD42  email  talk   h²g²  pedia  uncyc  18:15, 6 January 2006 (UTC)

i wish we had mp3s of those. --NERD42  email  talk   h²g²  pedia  uncyc  00:08, 5 February 2006 (UTC)

Or better yet, OGGs. But yeah, I've been known to leave the page up after "Oh Holy Crap" letting that loop run for minutes. Somethin' about it. —AbdiViklas 05:51, 5 February 2006 (UTC)

Me too. I don't know why. It's a... cute song. SaltyTalk! 05:59, 5 February 2006 (UTC)

Oranginaded where, again?

We've got a problem. Several of the songs under Songs that originated on "Strong Bad Sings and Other Type Hits" didn't literally originate there. Specifically, "Let's Get Started (etc.)" and "The Ladies In My Town (etc.)" originated in Strong Bad Sings. We never hear them, though, which makes it tricky to simply delete them from this section. They were, um, first "realized" on the cd... The Sweet Cuppin' Cakes Theme Song is even more difficult, since this could hardly be considered its "origin," but also is a new entity that hasn't been heard before. —AbdiViklas 00:03, 15 January 2006 (UTC)

Also, what's the page standard for placement? I see that SB's "Shanama" Panama and O Canada parodies are up in the toon, but H*R's "Greatest American Hero" parody is under "Not By TBC". To be consistent, I'd suggest putting anything we know TBC sourced on other music in this way in the bottom. So upstairs is originals only, and downstairs are real songs and parodies/new lyrics. Hi man, be bold. If you think some stuff need to move around, move it around. The idea of organizing a page is great, but sometimes you just have to do it. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 18:50, 7 March 2006 (UTC)
NP, I just wondered if there WAS any rhyme or reason before i spent any time on it. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 18:51, 7 March 2006 (UTC)

Ok, I organized the page a little differently. Whaddaya know, Haddiman? (One thing - the Wheat song from PQ - are there lyrics? Cuz it really isn't a "song" without lyrics. Everything else has lyrics or is specifically called a song. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 19:40, 7 March 2006 (UTC)

I really wouldn't mind seeing some tablage on this page. Thunderbird 20:38, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
That'd be great, but I haven't figured that out yet! Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 20:40, 11 March 2006 (UTC)

Wheat Is Sweet?

Well, "The Entertainer" doesn't have lyrics, either, but it's definitely a song. I see your point, though. I think that, since it was offered as a quote of the week, we might as well keep it on here. -FatPamPam

Actually, The Entertainer has lyrics. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 20:32, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
Though this could be discussed further. My point is every little tune would deserve a spot here, which isn't going to lead to any good. The Entertainer, that's a judgement call, and there certainly is an argument for and against it being a song. But the Wheat thing is a tune, not a song, and I don't think that qualifies. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 20:35, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
As time goes by (which IS a song), I'm more and more sure. It's available on the QOTD, and should be available on the Peasant's Quest page, but not here. I'll list it, and the Stinkoman tunes, below so they'll not be lost. Feel free to link them from other pages. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 03:53, 29 March 2006 (UTC)

Organization

I think I've developed a good system for categorizing the songs.

1 Songs by The Brothers Chaps (and/or Missy Palmer) - these are completely original, and should be listed here and in the alphabetical section at the bottom.

1.1 from Toons - any short, feature, or other toon except sbemail.

1.2 from Strong Bad Emails - Strong Bad Emails only

1.3 from Games - Games Only

1.4 from "Strong Bad Sings and Other Type Hits" - obvious

1.5 Songs from the DVD - again, obvious, though music from emails probably ought to be listed above

2 Songs partly by The Brothers Chaps - this includes parody lyrics to existing tunes, collaborations, etc.

3 Songs not by The Brothers Chaps - use this when the song is used as recorded previously by someone else, or when a character sings the exact words someone else wrote.

In 2 and 3, we should try to find attributions for the parts that are not by TBC. That means the writer(s) when they cover the song. If they use an actual cut, credit the performer too.

I think that sums it up. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 20:15, 27 March 2006 (UTC)

And now we have tables. I did not put the TMBG concert into a table, nor the Sealab songs, as there's no point. Feel free to neaten up anything you think needs it. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 22:54, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
Oh, another thing. It seems sensible to exclude original music that has no words, as they're not songs. But we should include non-original music such as "Theme from Night Court" to cite composers and/or important artists being referenced. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 00:10, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

I Don't Get It

I have been working on Songs By Character forever and haven't really glanced at this one. I don't understand the format here; it's different from SBC. Qermaq left a note on my talk page that I should add the song I put on the other article here (just so you know, I put 98% of the songs on that page) and on Titles too, but I'm not sure where. Could someone explain this for me? Thanks. -Brightstar Shiner 18:46, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

Sure. The page is in three sections. First, completely original songs, and that's subdivided into Toons, Sbemails, etc. Most stuff will go there. These are also (generally) the songs that end up in the Songs By Title and By Character pages (though I don't think that's a hard and fast rule). The second section is for songs which are not entirely TBC original, be they parodies, collaborations, or the like. The third section is for songs which are not at all written by TBC, though they might be sung by a character. Does that make more sense? Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 19:04, 22 October 2006 (UTC)
Yes, thank you. Before, I was thinking, "What the crap?! This makes no sense to me, so I'll post it on the talk page and hopefully Qermaq will explain it." And you did! Horray! -Brightstar Shiner 20:20, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

Easter Egg Songs

I've been noticing that we have been putting up all of the (few) songs in Easter Eggs. In ghosts, after you kill the bad graphics ghost, Strong Sad sings the "Ghost of John" song. Shoud we put this up?--Strong Rose 00:50, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

It's already listed, under Songs not by The Brothers Chaps. --phlip TC 01:15, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
Oops. ':) Sorry. I didn't look hard enough. My bad. --Strong Rose 21:34, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

It's Over... Again

There have been TWO "It's Over" songs now. Should we distinguish them? --Jay (Talk) 19:49, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

Of course. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 22:03, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

200 Emails

This should be listed, but would it be in the "partially by" section or the "not by" section? I'm leaning toward guessing that, as usual, TBC wrote the lyrics and TMBG did the music and performed it. But this is just a guess, of course, albeit an educated one. Who agrees/disagrees? Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 21:38, 25 September 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, why isn't it there? O.K., I've finally got off my butt and decided to make this page.

Hello, H*R Wiki Friends and Losers! I am Dungeonman262, a new(er) guy 'round here. I don't do many major edits; just spelling and a few fact checks here and there.

How did I find out about Homestar Runner? Well, it all happened in January of 2008, when my brother and I were talking about something related to the end of the world (I think...), when my brother said, "There's only one thing that can save us now...Trogdor the Burninator!" However, neither of us knew what Trogdor was; he had only seen it ona T-Shirt once at camp. So, we Googled it, and came across SBE-Mail 58. And the rest is history...

NOTE: This page is STILL under construction, so stay tuned... 10:21, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
