Why? I looked and I couldn't see anywhere where it was spelled as Shaboigen, and not the actual spelling of Cheboygan or Sheboygan, depending on which one you're talking about (most likely Cheboygan, because they're in the 20s and referring to bootlegging). --Tony from Cheboygan, MI

The robot, I can see.  The other two, not so much.  One's an alien (Old Timey [[Nebulon]]?!), and the other looks like a peanut with a black eye or something.  I don't see the connection.  But that's just me.

I kinda do think they're supposed to be Old Timey Robot, Bland, and Se&ntilde;or.  That was my first thought when I saw them, and them not being in the actual toon fits in context the way Mr. Bland and Se&ntilde;or are often mentioned in passing as if they're main characters but they're really not.  On the other hand, however, you have different fingers.  And since we can't be sure, and since they weren't in the toon and are not likely to ever be in an Old Timey toon, I don't think it needs to be mentioned anywhere but on a talk page.--{{User:Johnny Jupiter/sig}} 00:51, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

== Firehouse reference? ==

This is a bit obscure, but at the end of this cartoon, Sickly Sam says, "I've finally found the love of a lifetime." which could be in reference to a song of the same name from the hard rock band Firehouse (since the Brothers Chaps seem very knowledgable about hard rock bands from that era). Other similar references were "Kevin Dubrow" a Quiet Riot reference from The Bet email and "Here I go again on my own" a Whitesnake reference from the Mile email. Not to mention all the old guitarist pics they have up in their audio recording room (seen in Sample of Style).

:This has been put in and taken out a few times, so I'm willing to debate this. I contend that this ''should'' be included because (a) it ''isn't'' a "common phrase" (I certainly don't go around saying it) and (b) it's an awkward thing to say at the end of a cartoon, unless the joke ''is'' that this is a reference to a semi-obscure 1990s metal song. It just doesn't have a punchline quality or any kind of comedic rhythm to it. I think if it were meant to be taken literally, Sam would have said "I've finally found the love of my life" or something that flowed a little better. Thoughts? What do you think happened to Old-Timey Homestar and Old-Timey Marzipan at the Saw Mill? I guess that Fat Dudley came to the rescue just in time, but that wasn't shown. I figured that would be possible for two reasons.

*1: Fat Dudley was mysteriously absent, and should have appeared at some point. This is less likely.
*2:The "Saw Mill" scene is an retro cartoon cliche, and a hero (in this case, Fat Dudley) would have most definetly come to the rescue just in time, as the cliche goes. This is very likely.

So, what do you think happened to them?

* Early 20th century films would be partially colorized in some parts of certain scenes for emphasis. This colorization would have to be done after the film was already made.
And this one is listed under "Remarks":
* The first color films appeared in the late 1920s, but experimental color films (which this resembles) with only part of the scene colorized or tinted, were done as early as first decade of the 20th century.

::::Now we're heading into a grey area (no pun intended). It appears that they are actors, but really the same can be said about their modern counterparts. (for example, Marzipan in [[Doomy Tales of the Macabre]] reading her lines). The question is, who is doing the direction/editing/camerawork for each series? We can assume it's The Brothers Chaps in the vanilla 'toons, but we don't really know who is supposed to be behind the Old-Timey stuff. Are the film crew fictional characters in the Homestar universe, or should we perceive them as real people like Mike and Matt... or at least fictional people from the real world we inhabit? The fake names like "Wibe Chimendez" aren't relevant here, they could just be pseudo-names<!--it's -nym! aghh!--> for folks who are supposedly real. 
::::In short, if Strong Bad and Wibe Chimendez could feasibly meet (er, let's say Strong Bad saw his grave, since that's more likely), then The Homestar et al are actors within the Homestar universe. If Matt filmed himself walking into a library and finding Wibe's obituary, then the Old-Timey characters would be as genuine as Homestar. And more importantly, even if they are actors, the Old-Timey characters they portray are the ones we are focusing on, since we were focusing on [[A Decemberween Mackerel|Homsar's supposed death]] even though Matt could do his voice afterwards if he chose to.

:::::An explanation for McArby would be that it's all 'directed' by Strong Sad in order to portray his fantasies of getting revenge on the rest of the characters. This is seen prominently in a talk with Homestar Runner in the same 'toon and Strong Bad insulting Strong Sad.

:::::::I agree with [[User:Catjaz63|Catjaz63]], we hardly need to discuss the philosophy of this toon, but my original point was that before they were 2 of the 3 main heroes of the toon, but they don't appear in the climax or resolution.
