Given that the Suk-A-Dux's bag is pink with a flowery pattern, and doing the vacuum cleaning is not something you'd typically do around an office environment, I see Coach Z's handling of it to show another one of his portrayals as a mom. But how do we discuss on whether this inside reference will be placed in the article or not? [[User:Rexy|Rexy]] 14:59, 2 May 2007 (UTC)

:The custodial staff will often vacuum offices. admittedly generally after normal business hours. More evidence that that the coach is on the custodial staff is that he runs after some puke to clean it up. (the sawdust isn't to reduce the gross factor, it absorbs the liquid to make clean up easier) In addition, he is on the hourly wage type payment, rather than a salary that would be associated with more of an office type job. and vaccumes sometimes are just flowery.

In the deleted scene's storyboard, Coach Z is wearing what appears to be a janitor-style jumpsuit. This seems to me like it may be a reference to the notion that Coach Z, as opposed to having all-green skin, wears a green bodysuit, with "footies and sockies," as Strong Bad proposed in [[labor day]].

Crack Advertizerman?

um.. It's done by the same person.... sooo...... -- Lazylaces Talk 11:55, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
It sounds more like the narrator from the easter egg in 2 years. And Lazylaces, Matt Chapman is an accomplished voice artist. Many of his characters sound nothing like each other, and most don't even sound anything like him. His having done the voice doesn't mean it will sound similar to other characters.— Bassbone (TALK Strong Mad Has a Posse CONT) 12:03, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

What the pfargtl?

Okay, neverminding what 'pfargtl' is a stand-in for in 'WTPF?', how is that an instance of swearing? Pfargtl isn't even a real word. I kind of get it, since the PF is obviously a stand-in. I'm just not wholly sure it should count. - Wrath 13:24, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

Because it's used as a swear, and the implied swear is the joke and is rather clear. - Joshua 14:54, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

.egg == pom pom?

I don't really see how a website in the .egg domain is a reference to pom-pom. I know he's egg shaped and all, but it's totally out of context and random to associate these two things. I'm curious what others think before I bother with STUFF though.BryanCTC 16:48, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

Pom Pom the sbemail. In it, Homestar and Coach Z are talking, and Homestar says something about something being "dot-egg or dot-muffin or something." - Wrath 16:53, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
It's not Pom Pom's shape that's the reference, it's this line from pom pom:
HOMESTAR RUNNER: No, I'm pretty sure it was dot-egg.
Trey56 16:55, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
Where did my comment go? It was right here...Anyway, I fixed it on the Inside References. It linked to Pom Pom's character page for some reason. - Wrath 16:57, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
Sorry about that — see the summary for the edit right before your last one. Trey56 17:00, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
Still, is this a reference to that email specifically, or just to the Eggs running gag? — It's dot com 17:10, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
I believe they were thinking of the first time they made that joke, not coincidentally making the same joke a second time. Trey56 17:12, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
Doh. I had completely forgotten about the "I'm pretty sure it's dot-egg" line. The changed wording makes it much more clear.BryanCTC 17:53, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

Chronology

I don't know if this is worth mentioning, but I think we should say that this scene was meant to go between the Strong Sad and Homestar interruptions.

That might work, and please sign your messages with four tildes: ~~~~. 192.235.1.34 19:12, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

Home row

Just wanted to point out what I thought was a nice touch — when Strong Bad is typing out Coach Z's letters, he types each letter with the correct hand (for home row). Trey56 19:43, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

No, they messed up 'G'. It should be typed with the left hand, not the right. — It's dot com 00:19, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, you're right. Oh well. Trey56 00:24, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

Goofed goof

"On the "Shorts" Toons page, it says "A deleted scene for a delted scene?!" under the description."

Isn't this, in theory, an inside reference to 50 emails, as HSR attempts to type deleted? Although it isn't one of the words he tries, it still could be a reference, nonetheless. Zerlock1124

...I'm gonna have to assume it's a typo. That's *far* more likely than it being a very veiled reference to an old e-mail. -YKHi. I'm Ayjo! 23:50, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

Moot point now. It says A big deal for a little scene on the shorts menu.BryanCTC 03:34, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

Tofu Strong Bad?

Hey, could the Cottage-Cheese filled Strong Bad be a reference to Tofu Homestar? CoveredinSuudzu 01:05, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

Tofu is made of soy, if i recall correctly, not cheese. DeFender1031 01:06, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
OK, that makes sense. But still, it's a dummy made out of food meant to fool people. I still think it may be a reference.CoveredinSuudzu 01:07, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
I think it actually qualifies as a running gag by now, doesn't it? - Wrath 02:03, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
No. I mean... no. Not even close. Sorry. Nope.BryanCTC 03:38, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
Then what does, if you don't mind my asking? This is the fourth or fifth time there's been a mannequin sculpted out of food. Granted, it's the first time for Strong Bad; the others were Homestar constructed with tofu, as already mentioned. Is it just that it's a different character and food product, now? - Wrath 04:20, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
ah, but it's only the second kind of this type of thing. DeFender1031 04:22, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

Got Sbemail?

I'm wondering. How many times before this has another character besides strong bad refer to the emails he checks as "sbemails"? -the doc

Homestar did it once. He typed 'sbemail.com' in anything. - Wrath 02:05, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
No, that was 'sb_enail.com'. DEI DAT VMdatvm center\super contra
Everyone said sbemail rock opera, and Coach Z also said sbemail in Accent. Shwoo 11:02, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

Motion Picture Guy

Do people think this is a reference to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don_LaFontaine ? He is famous for making movie trailers identical in style to the one in this episode. 140.180.173.155 02:27, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

TTATOT DeFender1031 02:29, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
Hey just like Alfonzo Cauron and David Yates and Stephen Speilburg and Zach Braff and ... oh... TTATOT.BryanCTC 03:44, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
actually, your examples are directors. you might want to know that lafontaine is the voice behind the trailers, rather than the maker than the movie. his style of voice and announcing is often parody'd. such as in our own strong bad email narrator.
As a LaFontaine fan I'm sure you've seen this cute clip. I named the directors because, well, they are easy to blame right? BryanCTC 04:31, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

Deleted Words

I think they're more of a fadeout than a deletion. It seems like they're a reference to some horror film. Retromaniac 04:47, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

Everybody! Everybody!

The inside reference to "Everybody! Everybody!" deserves some mention here. The background music to Dancin' Bubs, as well as the song played in drive thru stereo through the Dancin' Homestar Runner Musical Nobot from the What I Want easter egg. Oh, annnd the name of the ensemble poster. Annnnd it can be heard again in Intro. Any other instances that I've neglected to mention here? At any rate, worthy of mention in the Inside References, no? --Cardgage Forty Twone 08:12, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

Well, that ratings screen is a direct reference to In Search of the Yello Dello Theatrical Trailer, so it's only an indirect reference to the Intro. I'm not sure if it's worthy of a mention here or not... Trey56 08:43, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
It's not actually mentioned in the In Search of the Yello Dello page at the moment, though. Shwoo 08:57, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
Yes it is! ;) Trey56 14:17, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

What up g?

Okay, so Dot com removed the link from:

  • Strong Bad uses the correct hand to type each letter in "pfargtl" (using the normal QWERTY keyboard layout) except for 'g', which should be typed with the left hand, not the right.

because he said it was a coincidence. I say differently. I say, if they went to the trouble to make sure each hand motion was precise, why flub the g? Because there's a running gag with "G" and they KNOW there's people on this wiki with so little time as to check these things. It's very much their style to put in a random, out-of-the-way, hard-to-find reference like this. I say link it. DeFender1031 14:05, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

I think they messed up on 'g' because they wanted to break up the left-right sequence, which otherwise would be RLLLLLR. Or maybe Mike types 'g' with his right hand. Or maybe they just screwed up. This is all speculation, naturally. I don't think, however, that we should link to it simply because we happen to have an article for that letter of the alphabet. — It's dot com 14:21, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

Cottage Cheese

I added a goof yesterday about Homestar's head not being in front of the speech bubble during the theatrical trailer, and it was removed. Now it's back, but it's a remark. What's the difference between a goof and a remark???-- Nevadie 21:39, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

A goof would be accidental, a remark would be deliberate. --DorianGray 21:41, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
I changed it to a Remark because I thought that The Brothers Chaps might have made it intentional. Maybe they wanted to keep Strong Bad out of the view so it wouldn't spoil the deleted scene. Or it could just be a stylistic choice. Either way, it's safer to put it in Remarks than in Goofs. Read HRWiki:Standards to find out more about Goofs and Remarks. Has Matt? (talk) 21:44, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
all of the other deleted deleted scenes have changes between them and just the deleted scenes. so its hardly to be unexpected that one of the deleted deleted scenes may have changes from the trailer of just the deleted scene.

DVD Menu

This DVD menu, along with the music, is very similar to that of the Office Space DVD. It's probably an intentional parody. B. Thayer 22:22, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

Fixed???

WTF

A fact was proposed explaining the meaning of WTPF's counterpart WTF. Its meaning should be clear to most. While I don't object to such a fact in its worth, we do need to find a way to say it where the language isn't going to be a problem. I'm reminded of "feeding the ducks" and the mess there existed in explaining the euphemism without actually saying what it was. I don't believe the end product there was successful, and we ended up not running the fact at all. How should we proceed? Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 02:38, 2 May 2007 (UTC)

I say we do what we did with sugarbob: put a fact in Remarks/Explanations saying something along the lines of "'WTPF' is a reference to swearing." Then if a person wants to, they can click on the link to find out more. This way we can provide information without shoving it in peoples' faces. Has Matt? (talk) 03:11, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, that sounds about right; how about this:
"WTPF" is a reference to "WTF", an acronym for a swear.
Trey56 03:16, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
I think it still needs a little rewording, as only one of the words that make up the acronym is a swear. Has Matt? (talk) 02:12, 4 May 2007 (UTC)

Rexy 14:59, 2 May 2007 (UTC)

The custodial staff will often vacuum offices. admittedly generally after normal business hours.

Tinner Tummer!

Could the way they faded out "This summer" so it would say "Tummer" be a reference to "Tinner" from the Marshie Short? The Magic Pixel 12:13, 5 May 2007 (UTC)

First of all, second of all its "Pinner" in Meet Marshie. And if it doesn't sound exactly like Pinner, Its most likely not a reference. Homestar-Winner (talk) 12:30, 5 May 2007 (UTC)
Oh, OK then. NEVER MIND'D! The Magic Pixel 20:40, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

Deleted Scene Times

OK, instead of 0:04-0:06 second for the deleted scenes, I did it separately for each deleted scene, and it's stayed up for this long. Could someone check me to see if I got the right times? The Magic Pixel 13:45, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

Floppy 386

It's a floppy!
I took a clearer screenshot of the floppy disk on Strong Bad's shirt (in the current one, it's partly covered by his sleeve). The only problem is, it's kind of small. If there was a way to make it bigger and keep the clarity, would this be an adequate replacement? (Sorry, it's just that the sleeve blockage kind of bugs me.) --Kiwi 16:55, 24 May 2007 (UTC)

Looping music

Hey, the remark about the looping music on a DVD is on both Remarks AND Explanations. Abelhawk (Talk | contribs) 00:59, 8 June 2007 (UTC) (left unsigned)

Good call — I removed one of them. Trey56 01:02, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

Footies and Sockies

In the deleted scene's storyboard, Coach Z is wearing what appears to be a janitor-style jumpsuit. This seems to me like it may be a reference to the notion that Coach Z, as opposed to having all-green skin, wears a green bodysuit, with "footies and sockies," as Strong Bad proposed in labor day.

"Pfargtl"?

Excuse me... what the heck does "pfargtl" mean, and how did The Brothers Chaps make out the word "pfargtl"? --194.218.103.74 12:57, 2 March 2010 (UTC)

Not sure, but they've made up a lot of random words over the years. StrongAwesome 20:44, 2 March 2010 (UTC)

Where's a .egg?

.egg domains are now possible, according to this article: http://techland.time.com/2011/06/20/custom-domain-suffixes-are-coming-heres-what-you-need-to-know/. Any Homestar Runner fans with at least $185,000 can now be the first to claim a .egg domain. --JohnnyLurg 18:26, 4 January 2013 (UTC)

Vacuum

Is Coach Z's "Suck-A-Dux" vacuum a reference to the "Suck-O-Lux" vacuum in the opening scene of Who Framed Roger Rabbit?
