[edit] Necessary?

This is a character from a one-off joke, non-playable game. I think we should redirect this to Duck Guardian 2Loafing 23:25, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Nowwaitaminute

Apparently, this "one-off character" has his own comic strip now. Since we have a page on Mellow Mushroom, which is unrelated to the H*R universe as well, should we have an article for the comic strip? --Mario2.PNG Super Martyo boing! 02:29, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

Actually, I agree. I did not know of this web comic until a month ago, but I realize it was regularly updated for a while. Seeing how it is obscure, we should really get an article on it. Both a Chapman and Zobel made it, so why not have it? It can't hurt.--Jellote wuz here 03:27, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
In fact, I think that Ron is more deserving of an article than Mellow Mushroom, because it's frequently updated by Matt and Craig. It could list the characters, and the main plot. Not go into very deep detail about it, just the general overview. StrongAwesome 03:38, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
I disagree. Since you brought up MM, please read Talk:Mellow Mushroom#Deletion. As you can see, the main argument for keeping it, is that importance it had in relation to Homestar Runner. The voices, the references, and so on. While being very funny in itself, Ron Planet doesn't bear any similarities to Homestar, as far as I can see. In the last comic there's a reference Mable in the commentary, which might count, but it's a stretch. If you can find more references to our wiki's topic, then an article about Ron Planet will look more promising. Remember: We're a HRWiki, not TBCWiki. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 06:18, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
As Elcool says, we're not TBCWiki, I agree with Elcool. ColdReactive 07:27, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
I think it is related. The main character is from Homestar Runner, so that's got to count for something. Plus, it looks like this is the source for Italian Space jokes in comic 014. And 017 is in the style of Teen Girl Squad. And 019 is a parallel with Homestar's line in Weclome Back. There seem to be tons of Homestar related in-jokes.--Jellote wuz here 13:02, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
I agree. Ron Planet is part of the Homestar Runner universe, and now that we have something to say about him this page deserves to be an article and not just a redirect. We don't have to go overboard; the article doesn't have to be overly detailed or anything, but it should be an article. — It's dot com 20:09, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
I still don't think it's part of the Homestar Runner universe, but after re-reading some of the comics, I can see the influences. Everything is kind of a stretch, and I could argue that it's TBC's "style", but that should be discussed after an actual page is made. I'm still not convinced there should be a page about the this comic yet, but I'm willing to go along with it and see how it goes. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 07:27, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

[edit] Should we count the strips?

While a number of comics is something that would be interesting to have on this page, should we really update the page each and every time there's a new strip added? Keep in mind that the authors are fairly actively making new strips (there's been three new strips in the past week or so), so a running tally would probably get a little annoying to keep track of after a while. --Mario2.PNG Super Martyo boing! 04:01, 22 May 2010 (UTC)

I agree. How about noting that as of <date of strip 40> there are more then 40 strips? Then we'd only have to update the article only once in a while on any benchmark update. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 07:21, 22 May 2010 (UTC)

[edit] Twitter Mystery

a little less than a year ago, the @ronginald twitter (https://twitter.com/ronginald), which iirc is officially associated with the comic, tweeted some quotes... most of which are from the comic.

-uncertain. googling "this lurg worked" turns up the tumblr page of danny saucedo (http://dsaucedo.tumblr.com/tagged/this-lurg-worked) (language warning), who has tagged several posts with the phrase as far back as april 28 2012, just under a year before this tweet was made. most posts tagged "this lurg worked" are also tagged with "johnny lurg," which likely refers to "the infamous johnny lurg," whose youtube page features several songs credited to danny saucedo, indicating that they may work together or even be the same person. (https://www.youtube.com/user/ruttheimer). more information about johnny lurg is found here http://popeyesquirm.com/2012/03/02/who-is-johnny-lurg/ (language warning) including several aliases (one of which is 'popeye squirm-- could this be his webpage?) and mention of "knowledge from Homestar Runner[.]" significance of all of this is unknown.

is this a code of some kind? the numbers 49 35 19 33 32 44-- the numbers of the ron planet strips quoted-- could they mean anything? is there any significance to the end of april-- when much of this content was posted in the past couple years? input is appreciated --162.211.35.226 10:31, 30 March 2014 (UTC)

Sorry to burst your bubble, but after Matt Chapman deleted his ronginald account on Twitter, a fan took the handle over. All those quotes were posted to Twitter by said fan. Though I do take issue with this fan trying to take credit for the April Fools' 2014 toon due to people mistakenly believing that handle was being ran by Matt Chapman when he isn't on Twitter anymore. — Ngamer01 19:40, 4 April 2014 (UTC)
