Quote of the Week Talk: Current | Messages 1-50 | Messages 51-100

Ding! Quote of the Week is a featured article, which means it showcases an important part of the Homestar Runner body of work and/or highlights the fine work of this wiki. We also might just think it's cool. If you see a way this page can be updated or improved without compromising previous work, feel free to contribute.

Latest quote: 80s rock influence?

The style of the music and Marzipan's accent and slang remind me of 80s rock bands that featured a female vocalist, such as Siouxsie and the Banshees.

It doesn't even sound like Marzipan's voice to me. Could it be something that someone else made, and sent to TBC, like the real marching band version of the CGNU fight song? But yeah, it's definately very Female-80s-band-esque. -- Chupaqueso 03:18, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
No, if it was fan-made, I'm sure they'd tell us. Also, it'd be too conveniently timed. --DorianGray
Yeah, your probably right. But maybe it was someone other than Missy doing the singing? Wait, I just thought of something. What if this QOTW is supposed to be what Cool Tapes would sound like if Marzipan rocked (from Different Town)? -- Chupaqueso 22:54, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
Have you people even listened to the clip? That is clearly Missy singing! If it isn't, may lightning strike me down right now! Only before "me", put in "people who disagree with". And how could it be fan-made? Can't you here Strong Mad and The Cheat's doley-o's ? That's Matt doing their voices, no doubt about it. Vol Chem, 1st Tile of Ical 15:41, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
Just listened to the clip; it doesn't sound much like Missy to me. --Trogga 23:50, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

loading

Does anyone else think that the loading window was only for that one song, and has been removed? It seemed that way with the last one. 207.7.187.135 17:07, 14 August 2006 (UTC)

I just noticed the same thing myself. It may have been a one time thing, it may perhaps be kept in reserve only for long quotes, or perhaps those with a greater knowledge of flash could tell me if it's somehow still there, but only triggered on extra large quotes. Thunderbird 17:47, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
I just decompiled it with my flash thing, and even though it's third party and messes everything up when you import, I can't find any hint of the loading screen. 207.7.187.135 18:40, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
Those last two comments were me in IP form. I can't find a loading box at all. TBC probably took it out. So I'll add that it was on the page. If anyone has a better flash decompiler and can find it, feel free to add it. link_icon.gifThe Joe(Talk) 16:20, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
Sorry if my last comment sounded weird. What I meant to say was: I can't find the loading box. I'm going to write that it doesn't exist. If anyone finds it in the current qotw file, you can revert my edit. Thank you. link_icon.gifThe Joe(Talk) 16:24, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

chumbly wumbly bear

shouldnt the quote be creidited to both What's-Her-Face and The Ugly One? in the transcript they're both singing it - Superplough 04:54, 19 August 2006 (UTC)

We only credit to whose character head shows up in each quote ('cept the old ones from before there were such things). In this case, What's Her Face. --DorianGray

ah ok, i didnt even know there WAS someones head that popped up, i only ever get the quotes from the wiki :P Superplough 04:59, 19 August 2006 (UTC)

Awesome, just AWESOME!

Regarding the "Quote of the Week exclusive" source, it seems to me to more likely be either a Cheat Commandos...O's outtake ("Fantastic!", "Well that's...just...great!"), or possibly a Shopping for Danger outtake ("Fan-freaking-tastic!"). But it's hard to say for certain. Any ideas? Thunderbird 00:16, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

I'm sure it's a teaser for the next Cheat Commandos toon! ;-)  Loafing 06:43, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
I kind of think it's speculation to call it an outtake at this point. The quote it most closely resembles is "Well, that's... just... great!", but I think the similarity isn't great enough for us to assume it's an outtake of this line. I think we should consider it a QOTW exclusive. Heimstern Läufer 07:14, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
Since you listed two sources when Commander angrily shout positive things, I think it's just his personality and can't be attributed to any one cartoon. It's like trying to do the same thing if the quote was of Strong Bad "I hate this crappy guy" to where he said "crap". Elcool (talk)(contribs) 09:38, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

Milkshake?

I noticed this QotW is attributed to a rather unique item, the old milkshake from under the seat, on Homestarrunner.com. But over here, it's just attributed to singers. Shouldn't this be recorded on the QotW page? Geshmalder 15:52, 8 September 2006 (UTC)

The song doesn't actually exist (Strong Bad just made it up) so neither do the singers. As such, the hypothetical non-existent singers are represented visually as an object associated with that scene. This is only because the format of QotW on the actual site requires the image of something the quote is coming from. The wiki, however, does not, and is free to state the true sayers of the quote, annonymous "singers", without having to resort to images. The ability to present the fact that all we know about the sayers of this quote is that they're singers, is why it shouldn't be recorded on the QotW page. Does that answer your question? Vol Chem, 1st Tile of Ical 06:40, 9 September 2006 (UTC)

Not really an outtake

The new qotw is labelled an outtake, but it isn't really. Strong Bad cuts Strong Sad off, but you can hear him finishing quietly in the background. --Telamon

Oh, hey, so it is... Like some Bubs quote about bananas before. And some other quotes. They seem to do this a lot. --DorianGray
Hey, if it helps you notice new stuff, then hooray! --Telamon
What is "Caaardinal Sins" anyway? --Trogga 18:45, 22 September 2006 (UTC)
That's a very good question. --DorianGray
Appearantly, it's another name for the seven deadly sins. I couldn't find any board game with the same title, though. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 19:10, 22 September 2006 (UTC)
Maybe it's a card game. (Card game? Cardinal sins? Get it? Oh, never mind...) --DorianGray

"Mumble Quotes"

With the previous two new quotes, it kind of looks like TBC are making us wikipeoples' lives easier for the transcripts, by providing us with the words of mumbled-out lines.

Marzipan's voice

In the latest one, Marzipan sounds differently. Retromaniac 01:42, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

Reggae Song

I know they have Marzipan's picture for the "Bread and butter pickle" reggae song Quote of the Week, but that's a pretty obvious Police-era Sting imitation. Anyone agree? — 71.167.106.88 (Talk | contribs) 22:06, 3 November 2006 (left unsigned)

I don't think so. Now that you mention it, it does sound a bit like Sting. But the style is different, and it'd be quite bold to assume that this is a Police imitation. Loafing 22:21, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
Sting? Sounds more like Bob Marley to me, but I haven't heard much Sting. Vol Chem, 1st Tile of Ical 06:58, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
Sounds like the black woman on Sesame Street. Retromaniac 01:59, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
Well, The Police were known for combining rock and reggae — especially in their early stuff — but this sounds just like The Wailers (the band in which Bob Marley received his initial fame just like Sting did with The Police). — User:ACupOfCoffee@ 01:20, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

I once imagined a version of Marzipan just saying it out. No song, just talking.

Character Heads On Main Article?

I think this necessitates a different discussion. Is the format of this page as good as it can be? Early on, there has been no question that the character name and comma indicated both that this was the character speaking/singing, and that it was the character head used. But with the Chumbly Wumbly Bear song, and now even more so this, we see that there is confusion. Perhaps the character head id should be in its own "character head" column. This would make it clear that that is what we are noting, and who we hear speaking the quote is not necessarily the same (and is a secondary priority on this page). In cases like the above, we can note elsewhere whether the character head accurately depicts the speaker/singer. Thoughts? Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 22:30, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
I like Qermaq's plan. Had they started with the heads from the beginning, there would have been no question. Since we'd already came up with the format before the heads though, it kinda got ignored. I think a little 20 or 30 px image on each line might be a nice touch. Thunderbird 07:06, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
EDIT: If we're going to integrate the head, I'd like to see a decision here before somebody goes through them all only to have somebody come up with a better format. I'm thinking split the table into pre and post character heads quote tables, and something like this:
Date Download Quote Source
03 Nov 2006 download Marzipan (singer): "Want some bread and butter pickles. Ooo-ahh! Give me that bread and butter pickle, bread and butter pickle. You are." Lyrics to Marzipan's music from Happy Hallow-day

Questions, comments, better idea? Thunderbird 04:25, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

I think it's a generally good idea. Would you do it differently than this when the speaker is more unambiguously the character whose head appears? I was originally thinking more along the lines of this:
Date Download Character Head Quote Source
03 Nov 2006 download Marzipan (Unidentified reggae singer): "Want some bread and butter pickles. Ooo-ahh! Give me that bread and butter pickle, bread and butter pickle. You are." Lyrics to Marzipan's music from Happy Hallow-day

I'd think an asterisk or something would be appropriate, with a notation below such as "Marzipan's head appeared on the 09 Nov 2006 Quote; however, the actual voice heard is an unidentified reggae singer" or something. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 10:28, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
I think it's a great idea to have the character heads in their own column. We don't even need the asterisk disclaimer bit if the quote starts with the name of the person who actually said it (just like in you example). Loafing 04:09, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, having the character heads in their own column is a wonderful idea. Trey56 05:46, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
Just double-checking, we are going to put the character's name in boldface before the quote even if it matches the character head, right? You know, for all of the image-disabled people out there. —BazookaJoe 07:48, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
And for hanging a link on. We should also put some alt text on the character head image. (See the tweak I made to the above.) — It's dot com 13:57, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
The section in the table for the character head seems a little wide for me, any way to reduce it's width? - link_icon.gifThe Joe(Talk) 14:04, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
Changing the column header to just "Head" rather than "Character head" should solve that one pretty quickly... --phlip TC 14:20, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

Take out the outtake

On the one hand, the "Good graphics" (11/16/06) quote says it's an outtake in Windows Media Player. On the other hand... is it really any different than the actual line in Peasant's Quest Preview? At all? I can't right now, but I'd like to listen to both simultaneously to check. If not, I think we should put a note (or Fun Fact) stating that they call it an outtake but it's not. --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 22:54, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

They are exactly the same. Click here to watch/listen to the video I made. They are both playing at the same time, although they may be off 1/4 of a second or something, but you can still tell they are the same.--minibaseball.png Bkmlb(talk to me·stuff I did) 00:52, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
Well done! Maybe it is both an outtake and an Easter egg. Mike's "What?" sounds genuine. My guess is that they decided it was a funny enough outtake for an Easter egg. Loafing 01:12, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
"...can we trust that it's an "outtake" when it exactly matches the toon?"[1]
Good question. It just doesn't make sense to say that, though. This is, by the book, not an outtake because it is in the toon. It's not best to blindly follow what TBC say if it's clearly incorrect or misleading. More likely than not, it says outtake in Windows Media Player because they simply didn't give a care what the incorrect or out-of-date title was when they put it up or it had not occurred to them. We've consented that we should give the actual date of release on the updates page even if the main page says otherwise, and I don't see why we should be any less accurate in our description of this QOTW based on what TBC may have inadvertantly said. —BazookaJoe 07:38, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

Mix-up

There's a problem. This quote of the week from today is the same quote as last year! Are they stupid?TheValentineBros

TheValentineBros: I'm a little put off that you would even use that word. I'm sure you wouldn't say it to their faces, and if that's true, then you shouldn't say it here, either. — It's dot com 01:49, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
Remember that QOTW's have been repeated in the past. I don't think they really care if it bothers anyone or not, frankly. They have whatever reason they have for allowing repeats. I'm cool with it. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 01:55, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
Also remember that this is a weekly section that has no history on the site, so if someone only started visiting H*R in the past year, or didn't visit or download the quote last year, it would still be new to them. Just because we have a record of all the QotWs doesn't mean that everyone does, or that everyone has been watching since day one and downloading all the quotes. It would actually seem like repeating QotWs would be more the norm than it is - Ilko Skevüld's Teh C 02:23, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch

It's dot com:

Should we be splitting hairs between stonk and stunk?

  1. it was an outake so they could have easily have screwed up the line
  2. if this is where the line originated, they probably didn't pull up a script but did it from memory
  3. it is a little over 2 weeks before christmas so that the likelyhood that they are either working on a christmas/decemberween toon, or watching christmas movies are high.

I think that they probably saw the Grinch that stole christmas recently and thought of the line. I R F 17:07, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

Like I said in the edit summary, I was reminded of this as well. "Stink, stank, stunk" (the real lyrics) are the tenses of the verb, but "stonk" seems more to me like a deliberate (and not necessarily related) joke by TBC. As it is, there is too much speculation to list it (coupled with the fact that, if it's a reference, then they got it wrong). — It's dot com 05:23, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
There is something to be said that this many people so far have been reminded of some version of the Grinch . . . I don't know much of the cartoon or the movie, and while the written word is stunk without a doubt, could one or the other of the sung lines sound like "stonk"? Someone who has made the edit recently, give us some help as to why you think it's a reference. It seems like too many people to just be pulling it out of thin air to me, but at this point I don't see a strong argument for the reference. - Ilko Skevüld's Teh C 17:07, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

PC vs Mac fad

Was this a short lived fad? I found it odd that there are only 4 entries with PC and Mac links; 19 Jul 2004, 29 Jun 2004, 17 May 2004, 03 May 2004. Why is that? Did it appear on the site that way and TBC just give up on it? I R F 20:27, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

If you look at the PC/Mac links, they link to .zip and .sit files, respectively. All the regular "download" links point to naked mp3s. ~ Bruce 06:01, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

Perhaps. There also exists the possibility that this is not a reference to Ricardo Montalbon, and they were doing something else entirely. Someone they know locally, perhaps. We don't really know for certain. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 00:40, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

Audio Quality

Is it just me, or do quotes of the week sound a little different (clearer, maybe?) than the originals? Just wonderin'.-LordQuackingstick

Nope, you're right. The QOTWs are straight mp3s that don't play directly in the Flash animation. They play the sounds through Flash, which distorts the sound a bit. Probably makes the file size smaller than what it would otherwise be. —BazookaJoe 00:35, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
Actually, it's not that it plays through Flash, but to save loading times in the cartoons, Flash automatically exports them as a lower quality. They just keep the original versions on their computer. - link_icon.gifThe Joe(Talk) 00:37, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
Thanks. I figured it was something like that. —BazookaJoe 00:39, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

Crabadonk

Voice actors often do multiple takes of a line and the best one is selected later. This is clearly what Matt had done with Bubs' line "Crabadonk". Are all three outtakes for certain? Would this be better described as multiple takes? Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 01:02, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

This is like June 29, 2004's "I just hate you so much". Bubs says crabadonk twice in the e-mail. Let's not call this an outtake. Multiple takes is better. Or, we can just leave its source as plain ol' "the chair". —BazookaJoe 01:42, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
The first two "Crabadonk"s of the QotW are outtakes. The third one matches the first time Bubs says "Crabadonk" in the email. The second time in the email is distinct to all three in the QotW. --phlip TC 06:09, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
I say we stay with "outtake" — it seems to have both meanings, a take that's not used because it ends with a mistake, or any take that's not used (e.g., multiple takes are recorded and only the best is uesd). No point in using different words if we don't have to, I think. Trey56 19:17, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
Wait, at least one occurence of "crabadonk" cannot be called an outtake by either definition. Therefore, since it was used, that portion of the QOTW cannot be called an outtake. "Multiple takes" communicates more clearly what they are, and I think multiple words are warranted when clarity is concerned. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 01:34, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
"Multiple takes" is cool with me. —BazookaJoe 02:00, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

Define "outtake"

Well, we have more edit-warring here regarding outtake status than anything else, so let's explore the issue.

What is an outtake? It's a take that was not used in a toon, basically. It may have been a particular reading of a line (or a single word) that was rejected for a different approach. It might be a totally different line that was recorded but unused. It might be an error, or "blooper". But in each case, the outtake does not occur in the finished toon.

In the "clabadonk" case, a strong argument exists for referring to the three repeated words as "multiple takes". There's evidence that at least one of these takes were used in the finished toon. I suggested "multiple takes", but even if it's somehow agreed that these are outtakes, it should be plural, as these clearly are three successive takes.

In the most recent QOTW we have a different issue. This is a line from the toon, but some extra is apparently tacked on. I haven't taken the time to listen and compare, but if the lion's share of it is in fact the same as is used in the toon, how can we call it an outtake?

What I'd like is a bit more formal agreement on what should and should not be labeled as an outtake so these silly revert wars stop. (And, at risk of sounding like a scoolteacher, my rule of thumb is it's good to indicate in the edit summary why the edit was made, but if you or someone you agree with is reverted (or if what you reverted is added back), it's time to take it to the Talk page, lest these wars continue.) Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 01:47, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

After another listening under the tutelage of Pom Pom's keen ears, I don't think the current QotW (18 Jan 2007) is an outtake, but there are a couple of lines in the middle of it that aren't in the toon. Namely, the underlined part here is missing: "I can't remember cereal, I can't remember TV. Is it football season yet? I don't even watch football. I hate football but I'll play football. Run you over in football. Run you down the field like a clown!" The rest of it sounds exactly like what's in the toon (although it's admittedly hard to hear under the voiceover). — It's dot com 02:38, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
Holy crap! A revert war because of my original edit. To me, it's not an outtake. Most of the quote is in the toon. It's all good, though. You can do anything you want to it. I don't care. TheYellowDart(t/c)
Interesting... Some of the underlined football bit was used in the toon, but in a different place. Namely when Strong Bad ask how does Strong Sad feel, just before he say that he can't remember his legs. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 17:41, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

Listening to the file, does it sound like this is the full quote, or should be still be looking for a better file? — It's dot com 16:02, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

I just did a random sampling of a few of the authentic quotes I have downloaded over the years and all of them had a bit rate encoding of 80 kbps. This sb_matt.mp3 file is 128 kbps. I think it is probable that someone just created this sound file on their own. -- Tom 23:07, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
So should we revert to the pre-file version of the page? — It's dot com 23:26, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

Sausages.

If you go and listen to It's Dot Com by Brent LaRowe (some sort of Fan Music), in it, at about 2:03, is a quote from Strong Bad. "Don't worry big guy, we'll find him... if the King of Town hasn't already ground him up into sausages." Now, this seems to be from Where's the Cheat?, but not a direct quote. I discussed this with someone in the chat room a few months ago, and whoever they were seemed to agree with me that it was a quote of the week. Now, it could be a very good impression, but I don't think so. Does anyone remember this quote, if it ever was? --smileyface.PNG11945 (Talk/Ctrbs) 19:50, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

A quick search shows nothing. Does the clip in the song seem to be authentic? Bluebry 19:53, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
Looking back into my Activity History (thanks Trillian), I discussed this with Kookykman. The rest of the quotes from the song are legitimate, so I have no reason to believe it's not an authentic quote. I'm going to upload the section of the song with the quote in it. --smileyface.PNG11945 (Talk/Ctrbs) 20:15, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
Okay. But, exactly why is this discussion being held here? I see nothing on the page with a quick ctrl-F, nor do I see any archives. Bluebry 20:19, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
Uploaded at Image:Sausage.ogg. Bluebry: I put it here because I'm pretty sure it's a Quote of the Week, and therefore would warrant addition to the page this page discusses. --smileyface.PNG11945 (Talk/Ctrbs) 20:21, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
Well... we need a source that says "This was totally a QOTW". A quick Yahoo! search gets nothing. But, I'd like to see other opinions. Bluebry 20:25, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
Imagine my surprise to see people still chatting about these stupid tunes I smashed together when I didn't feel like studying. :-) I can confirm that the "sausages" was a legitimate quote of the week, though it was so long ago (around four years ago) I have no idea if I found it through the front door of the QOTD links or the backdoor folders that were still accessible when H*R was fairly young. Gunhaver

The file for the latest quote of the week is called crack_up2here.mp3 signifying that it's Crack Stuntman, the voice of Gunhaver as mentioned in Marzipan's Answering Machine Version 14.2 - Will you stop changing my edits and leave it as Crack Stuntman?!?!??!

AND Gunhaver, as a Cheat Commando, is not very tall... Maybe for a Cheat he's tall, but the cheats are kinda small.

Can we please get a consensus on whether this week's quote is Crack Stuntman as himself, or as Gunhaver? Kahteh 22:50, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

I think it makes perfect sense that it's Crack Stuntman: notice that he says "If you could see me..." Where would Gunhaver have said that in any of his appearances? It makes much more sense for it to have been the answering machine message. Trey56 22:53, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
Oh yeah, the filename pretty much proves it — good point. Trey56 22:54, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
That... actually makes sense. Good point. (Also sorry about the duplicate sections- the unsigned post wasn't there when I started typing!) Kahteh 22:55, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
No prob :) Trey56 22:56, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
Sorry about not signing - it's my first contribution and I didn't know how to sign them.... mister t 23:05, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
Understandable! Trey56 23:07, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

Incidentally, it should not read "Crack Stuntman as Gunhaver", because Stuntman wasn't playing Gunhaver at the time. Our format in cases like that is to put the character head first followed by what it really is: "Gunhaver (Crack Stuntman)" — It's dot com 23:19, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

I don't think Gunhaver's name should be in there at all because he's not acting as Gunhaver and Gunhaver didn't have anything to do with this quote. It's Crack. and it's mentioned in Marzipan's Answering machine that he is the "Handsome actor that's handsomely paid." to play Gunhaver... just because Gunhaver's picture is on the website doesn't attribute this quote to him. If anything it should read Crack Stuntman (Gunhaver) mister t 23:25, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
Perhaps, but in that case all of the similar quotes would need to be reformatted. "Character shown (Actual speaker)" is simply the format we've used up to now. Gunhaver's name should definitely be there, however, since his image is shown on the site. — It's dot com 23:37, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
Or you could reformat the entire page to look like this. --Trogga 23:59, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
Or you could read a thread above. I still feel something like that is a better way. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 01:20, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

The format has now been changed. (It's weird which threads end up being the straw that breaks the camel's back when it comes to implementing a long-discussed but languishing idea.) — It's dot com 03:42, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

Shinoligans

Is "shinoligans" a portmanteau? I can see it being a cross between "shinanigans" and something else. Retromaniac 01:08, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

(I think it's just a mispronunciation. - User:Zephiel )

The Portmanteaus page says it's a cross between "shenanigans" and "shinola". Personally, I think they're stretching it a bit. --DorianGray 01:23, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
Usually, the Portmanteau's base words relate to each other. In my opinion, I really don't think Shoe Wax and Shinanigans relate. (User:Zephiel)

Just wondering...

Does anyone know the font that the Chappies use for the QOTW? If not, I am planning on making a TrueType file for future use and I want to know if I could be saved the trouble. --Mario2.PNG Super Martyo boing! 01:45, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

I'm no expert in fonts, but it looks to me just like plain old Arial. Has Matt? (talk) 01:55, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
Hey, thanks! They look almost exactly alike! Next time when I test the "Basic" fonts I'll remember to throw in Arial with T.N.R. and C.S.M.S. --Mario2.PNG Super Martyo boing! 02:08, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

Misleading Column

I kind of think "download (mirror)" should be changed to "hear it! (mirror)." I was afraid to click it for so long because I was afraid it would really take up my lappy's memory. Bad Bad Guy 02:51, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

What did you think you were going to download? —BazookaJoe 04:37, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
The quote. Bad Bad Guy 16:55, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
See, I was afraid the mirror was supposed to be the "get it!" button. Bad Bad Guy 02:58, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
Technically, it's both. Click for hearing it (thus downloading it to your music player), right-click and save-target-as for getting it. --DorianGray 04:03, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

Is it just me or just Marzipan sound a bit... different?

It just seemed like she had a slight southern accent maybe, and it didn't really sound like Missy in the newest QOTW. --Mario2.PNG Super Martyo boing! 03:35, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

I thought it was MORE Missy (as opposed to Marzipan). Like they just had something Missy said that was funny, and stuck Marzi's name on it.
I feel like we've discussed "not Missy" quotes before... --DorianGray 03:39, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
Remember, this is credited to a 7 year old toon... Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 09:07, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

sb_fieldday.mp3 - a hidden/unfinished toon?

The page states that the qoute of the week from 24 May 2007 is a Quote exclusive. Since the link for the file is sb_fieldday I went to fieldday.html to check it out. The quote is actually from a short toon featuring Strong Bad, titled "Field Day intro". I can't seem to find a page for it here on the wiki, so I wanted to point out to that in case nobody had noticed. It doesn't have the bottom navigation links, neither does it continue to what it's an intro for so I'm guessing it's something unfinished. Please tell me if I just stated the obvious or made an amazing discovery. :D - Einir usertalk 16:29, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

Sweet. Thanks for the heads up. I'll get to work on it ASAP.· · T2|Things 16:33, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
WOW. I'll do some research here and on the page. Firefox tells me the page was last modified (note: modified) on "Saturday, April 01, 2006 11:46:20 PM". I'll check some more. By the way, you might wanna put this on Secret Pages. I'll let you do it, Einir; you found it. Bluebry 16:41, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, I agree. That's a secret page. But the question is, is it an unfinished toon, or an old toon that TBC abandoned and might not finish at all? Hagurumon 17:19, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
Well, a look at DNA Evidence's page says it was modified on "Tuesday, May 15, 2007 5:38:58 PM". The day it came out. more armies came out on May 21, and Firefox says it was modified "Monday, May 21, 2007 2:09:06 PM". So, considering this was made on or before April First, 2006 (see my first reply), I think it's abandoned. Bluebry 17:23, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
Could this toon possibly have been the intro for April Fool's Day? That could be why Strong Bad was saying not to adjust "The Jumbo Tron", because the site was flipped upside down. Homestar-Winner (talk) 18:12, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
"On December 16th 2004 at the Zenith in Munich, Germany, the Beastie Boys used two JumboTron screens on the left and right side of the stage to present to the crowd the first one and a half minutes of Everybody to the Limit." Source: Musical Sightings. A possible intro to the event?
But then why does he mention Long Island? I do think the toon was used (or was planned to be used) for some type of outdoor festival or event similar to the one you mentioned, but not one in Germany. Has Matt? (talk) 18:42, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
Please discuss this at Talk:Field Day Intro. --Mario2.PNG Super Martyo boing! 18:44, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

Did you just say parakeet?

Why is Strong Mad's "parakeet" quote still broken? Homestar-Winner (talk)

Because we haven't yet found anybody who's got the mp3. Loafing 20:37, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
Oh man! I really should get to downloading the quotes again. My sister doesn't want me sticking them into the iPod shuffle I have. They're too incessant. --Addict 2006 00:43, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

Which one's The Ugly One?

Seems like the newest quote is being said by 2 different TGS girls. Anyone else think so? (a salty chocolate bar to anyone who recognizes the reference in my topic title here)

It sounds like Cheerleader, and makes sense in the context (the Sketchbook has this quote while on a boat, and Uggs was with Cheerleader on the canoe. Dr. Clash 22:48, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
The filename starts "uglycheer"... so I'd say the first sentence is The Ugly One, the second Cheerleeder. --phlip TC 01:29, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
I agree with Philip, it's UglyCheer, so the ugly one us talking first, then cheerleader says "I'm a lattitude snob". So we should add those facts to both qow and sketchbook.--Darkangel Get offa me! 03:22, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
