Ding! Original Book is a featured article, which means it showcases an important part of the Homestar Runner body of work and/or highlights the fine work of this wiki. We also might just think it's cool. If you see a way this page can be updated or improved without compromising previous work, feel free to contribute.

Any ideas on how to categorize this page? - Drhaggis 19:44, 27 Oct 2004 (MST)

[edit] Copyright violation

Other than the introduction and background, I don't think there's anything on this page that one couldn't get simply from watching the toon. Additionally, I think that reproducing the "book" in its entirity (complete with images) is even more of a copyright violation than we normally do (that is to say, if anything crosses the line, this does for sure). — It's dot com 01:06, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Hey, you wrote the same exact word-for-word thing on the Where My Hat Is At? discussion! Cool. --daunrealist 04:55, 8 Jul 2005 (UTC)
Yep. It's the same issue in both instances. Copy and paste makes everything easier. — It's dot com 05:49, 8 Jul 2005 (UTC)

I added a secret STRONG BAD VERSION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Strongbad handles this book the same way he does with kids' book and that decemberween version thingy. --Darklinkskywalker 00:03, 14 Jul 2005 (UTC)

I just found out that the peeps at [adult swim] this week in their pre 12:30 AM bump Monday through Wednesday used the Strong Bad quote "I am the very strongest. You guys are not that strong." from the book. It was used with what looked like a crudly drawn characture of a tough guy P\/\//\/I/\/G a fallen victim with his head ripped off from his neck. [edit] purchase?

is there anywhere I can purchase or check out this book?-- Benol, aka Coach B 19:24, 25 November 2005 (UTC)

To quote Mike, "Just a story we made one afternoon, went to Kinko's, made about ten or fifteen copies of it, and kind of gave it to our friends, and that was it, really, for several years. We just did that in the summer. We were in college, and did it in a bored afternoon." So there's only a few copies in the world, belonging to the Brothers Chaps' friends. It's unlikely that you'll find one. Although... It would be an awesome edition to the Store, I think. --DorianGray
That would be awesome. TBC, if you're reading this... you shoud totally do that. — talk Bubsty edits 00:28, 21 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Alternate text

The alt. text for the book isn't "Pom Pom's Beady Eyes" for every page after page one. It changes to "havin' a little trouble" when Senor is crushed, then to "Where's the plug?" on the next page. It stays that way until Strong Bad is squished, when it becomes "squisha squisha squisha", then finally on the last page it's "WORLD BEST". I'd change it myself, but I'm not sure how best to format it

Huh? How do you get this text? User:Sbe-mail Checker Dan 9:24 AM July 27th, 2009

[edit] NPOV

Is it just me, or does the following sentence sound completely opinionated?

"The story is bizarre, but shows signs of the greatness to come."

It's not as bad as the old version...

"It's a rather weird story, and only has some of the characters, but it's still pretty cool."

[edit] DVD version

I know that this story is read aloud by a narrator on DVD, in a fashion similar to kids' book. What I want to know is, is the narrator Mike Chapman or someone else? MHarrington 05:37, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] ACCENTuating the Awkward

The tilde above the "n" in Señor is not only missing in the second appearance, but it is also handwritten in the first. This suggests that the Brothers Chaps meant to write in the second tilde... but forgot. I think a handwritten tilde on a typed description is a pretty fun fact... but maybe I just havin' a little trouble. — 96.234.74.23 (Talk | contribs) 15:40, November 6, 2009 (UTC) (left unsigned)

[edit] Alternate Text?

The article mentions alternate text. How do you get this text? Shouldn't it be on the article? SBE-mail Checker Dan 01:17, 17 January 2010 (UTC)

View the original version, and hover your mouse over the images. A little yellow text box will pop up with the alt text. Lots of sites do it; it doesn't really need an explanation. --DorianGray 01:30, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
