Since there are so many hidden things in the toons, should we make an article that lists all of them? -Essence of Ghost Water

You mean, like, a list of Easter eggs? --DorianGray 04:46, 27 March 2010 (UTC)
Sort of. -Essence of Ghost Water

[edit] Nice Try Cigar

I don't understanrd this "no cigar" joke. could somebody be more better Lucsar 20:51, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

It comes from the phrase, "Close, but no cigar" which means that you were only the slightest bit off from achieving your goal. Shine Sprite (complain) 21:49, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

[edit] Rename

A couple users have noted, “nice try” doesn’t really inform people what the page is about, and most instances don’t include the words “nice try”. - 01:49, 21 October 2018 (UTC)

Hidden Messages? Hidden Decompiled Messages? Decompilable Messages? In any case, "Nice Try" seems like too narrow a name for the broader scope this page now covers. DEI DAT VMdatvm center\super contra 16:04, 21 October 2018 (UTC)
Agree. The current name led me to believe this page specifically documented "nice try"-style mocking messages, rather than all decompilable messages. "Hidden Messages" sounds good to me. Gfdgsgxgzgdrc 19:02, 21 October 2018 (UTC)
Or perhaps "Decompilable Messages", since it's more specific. Gfdgsgxgzgdrc 05:51, 4 August 2019 (UTC)
As much as I agree with the semantics of "Decompilable Messages", I think that might be a bit too technical of a term for a page. I think "Hidden Messages" is the best catch-all name, even if it's a bit simple. - Catjaz63 17:02, 4 August 2019 (UTC)
Could always redirect one to the other.- 17:23, 4 August 2019 (UTC)
Yep. I say we should rename this to "Hidden Messages", and redirect the other ideas. Any objections? Gfdgsgxgzgdrc 21:50, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
Yes, two-months-ago self, I object. There are questions that need to be answered before the page is renamed, as it seems that this page has lost its focus over the years. When this page was first created, it included three examples: "nice try dodongo!", "nice try dan", and "no cigar", all of which are jokingly antagonistic toward the viewer. The page was named "Nice Try" to reflect this mocking tone. But since then, more examples have been added, such as "hidden words" and "secret reading", which do not include the mocking tone that the title conveys. This page now seems to encompass all decompilable messages, which are also documented at Easter Egg#Decompiled Flash Easter Eggs, making this page redundant. I propose narrowing the scope of the page to make the current title relevant. Gfdgsgxgzgdrc 22:48, 1 June 2020 (UTC)
In response to anonny 50, the problem with changing the title to fit the content of the page is that the content of the page is already documented elsewhere (Decompiled Flash Easter Eggs and Halloween Teasers). To avoid redundancy, I feel like the scope should be limited to instances of hidden "nice try" messages. Gfdgsgxgzgdrc 04:46, 7 April 2021 (UTC)
