403'd!! (Ow! My permissions!)

*When browsing directly to a domain sub-directory (e.g. www.homestarrunner.com/stinkogame/), instead of the expected 404'd page an HTTP 403 authorization error is displayed.

This is not a Goof or even much of an oddity. This is very distinct from the (legitimate) Goof that is found on the old 404'd page. It just means that TBC didn't make a "403'd!!" page. (For reference, if the old Goof was still in play, this link would not display properly.) --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 05:53, 27 July 2018 (UTC)

It's definitely not a goof of the page itself but it's still an issue with the 404 system as a whole. I don't know of a better place to document it that this page. As for a 403, it can just redirect to the 404 page as well. In any case, it's still a goof (or a bug) of sorts so I think it should be documented on the wiki. --Stux 14:56, 27 July 2018 (UTC)
I don't see how it's a Goof or a bug, as 403 and 404 indicate completely different things. Whatever the case, if it is a "Goof" of sorts, it's not TBC's fault. We typically have a rule against mentioning Flash artifacts (things inherent in Flash that TBC have no control over), so why mention an HTML protocol... I can't even in good faith call it an "artifact" because it's not a bug... an HTML protocol feature? --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 19:05, 27 July 2018 (UTC)
I think your argument confuses technical aspects with functional aspects. What I'm talking about is the functionality of the website as a whole and TBC *do* have control of such aspects. That's in fact what this 404 redirect page is for: it's designed so that users don't get a boring 404 page that looks just like the 403 page that they're getting. I doubt it was TBC's intention for that 403 page to look the way that it does now. So I think it's a thing that can and should be documented on the wiki. --Stux 20:45, 27 July 2018 (UTC)
I can't say I agree, and think noting something like this to be entirely unprecedented and fairly pointless. This fact was originally an edit of a fact concerning a very real bug regarding the old 404 page that no longer applies. Does anyone else have any input? --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 13:12, 28 July 2018 (UTC)
I too, would like to hear everyone else's input on the matter. I don't think this item is as pointless as you say it is, especially given how much attention to detail we give to all other aspects of the site and its toons. --Stux 16:10, 28 July 2018 (UTC)
