Monkey D... Monkeydude...

Is Monkeydude really Monkey D? I mean, I know the Monkeydude card was illustrated with Monkey D in Pom Pom, but the Viklas card was illustrated with the Swedish flag. They've always seemed two clear-cut different people to me. --Upsilon

"Monkey D" is a made up name by Strong Bad which is now a running gag. "Monkeydude" is how someone signed his email to Mr Bad. Its a case of life imitating art. I think we should note this, but ultimately they are the same person in Homestar universe - Dr Haggis - Talk 14:19, 5 Dec 2004 (MST)
Or... TBC could have made a mistake and confused Monkey D with Monkeydude. --Tom Holmes.
When the Creator makes a mistake, it's canon. --Pete Best
To call it a mistake doesn't make much sense, since "vacation" (the first Monkey D image) came out before "crazy cartoon" (the e-mail signed by "monkeydude"), which in turn came out before "pom pom" (the e-mail that uses the image and name together). Where exactly is the "mistake" happening? They were just being extremely clever. — 24.199.113.148 (Talk | contribs) 07:27, February 24, 2006 (UTC) (left unsigned)

Barenaked Monkey?

He may well be the inspiration for the Barenaked Ladies song "Another Postcard." -Anonymous

Unlikely. The story is that BNL actually gets frequent monkey postcards from an anonymous person. Drhaggis 00:19, 18 Sep 2004 (MST)
Maybe it is the other way around, "Another Postcard" is the inspiration for MonkeyD. Personally, I think it is just a coincidence. --Hobo
You don't suppose it has anything to do with Monkey D. Luffy...?
I was going to bring this up. I don't think it's a reference, just a weird coincidence. I believe that One Piece came out after the 1st Monkey D reference, but I could be wrong. It's freaky. --acekirby13|My Talk 01:32, 22 May 2005 (UTC)
I have checked. One Piece, or at least the show, came out 2 years after the first Monkey D reference. Ookelaylay 19:45, 7 Jul 2005 (UTC)
The One Piece manga graphic novel series came out in 1997. The show came out in 1999. Each of these years predate any Monkey D. reference. It's quite possible that Monkey D. may have come from Monkey D. Luffy. — Lapper (talk) 13:35, 24 February 2006 (UTC)

Stong Bad

I didn't believe that Monkey D's shirt said "Stong Bad", so I went to pom pom and verified it. S Gleason 19:33, 24 Jun 2005 (UTC)

I thought it said "Stong Band". --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 19:45, 24 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Oh! "Band"! Verified and I will update the page. S Gleason 21:40, 24 Jun 2005 (UTC) edited 25 Jun sometime
