Ding! Matt Chapman is a featured article, which means it showcases an important part of the Homestar Runner body of work and/or highlights the fine work of this wiki. We also might just think it's cool. If you see a way this page can be updated or improved without compromising previous work, feel free to contribute.

hm...this page is lookin' funny...what's with the extra space behind the H*R link?

I'll give this a tweak. It could use a space under the photo I think. AgentSeethroo

I think we might want to incorporate the subpage "Facts" from 'Tavi into a section onto the page itself. Also, we need to figure out what we are going to do with the "HomestarLinks" page that this page references. -- Tom 14:38, 4 Aug 2004 (MST)

Okeydokey. I'll go ahead and import the Facts page into Matt's page. If we wanna move, we can do it later, right? Homestarlinks...yeah...is there some special MediaWiki links page format thinger? That'd probably be the best way to do it. AgentSeethroo 16:00, 4 Aug 2004 (AZ)

Hey Whats the Link to the movie, i cant find it anywhere? 9-15-04

What's the deal with someone baleeting the facts, they were actually there for a while then it just said the article was a stub. I put the facts just under the article, as I didn't want it lost. So, anyone know what happened? P.S I love Matt ChapmanOf course this is from MJ

Looking at the page history, it doesn't seem that they were ever there. Though we did talk about them... Nice work getting them over here. -- Tom 04:54, 4 Oct 2004 (MST)

Inline refs

I've added the inline references back to the page. I should have put a note or something on here about them a while ago. Sorry about that. When M.J and I were drawing up the plans for this page a long time ago, I made her put all of those inline references in there. This was mostly because it would be so hard to confirm these hard to find facts. In fact, I really didn't even believe a few of them at first. Of course, this really only applies to this kind of page, where we are dealing with a real life person and can have a zero margin of error. If we decide that we really don't like them, I suppose we can hide them in the code with comment tags. (<!-- -->) -- Tom 21:27, 24 Oct 2004 (MST)

Fair enough. I'm pushing the boundaries here like my three year old! spblat 21:33, 24 Oct 2004 (MST)

Good work everyone, this page is looking great now. M.J

Wife

From Tis True, Pom Pom, Tis True commentary:
MATT: So this was, uh, my wife Jackie and I, who was not my wife at the time, wrote this cartoon.

MIKE: I thought you said "she's not your wife anymore."

MATT: Who's no longer my wife. No, that's not true.

Jackie is still his wife, at least up to the time that recorded this. Since we haven't heard anything to the contrary, it should be assumed that they are still together.--Hysterical Woman 18:05, 4 Dec 2004 (MST)

I understand it the same way that you do. Meaning: they are still married. (Mike was confused at mishearing Matt. Mike thought Matt said that he and Jackie were no longer married. This confused Mike because Matt and Jackie are still married. Matt confirms this in the next line.) -- Tom 16:58, 8 Dec 2004 (MST)
This conversation was months ago, but I wanted to go ahead and mention that Matt calls Jackie his wife on the Everything Else, Volume 1 DVD, and is shown wearing a wedding band. — It's dot com 21:27, 18 November 2005 (UTC)

Sealab 2021

Matt Chapman recently created a song and sound byte for a recent episode of Sealab 2021 (on Cartoon Network's "Adult Swim"). The voice is the same as the one he used for Larry of Limozeen. Matt is credited on this page (in the Mp3's section): http://www.adultswim.com/misc/downloads/index.html

The Burning Horizon Quote

Does anybody know where I can get this now? I used to have it, but after my hard drive exploded, the quote had already been taken off the Videlectrix site. --TheNintenGenius 10:05, 24 Jan 2005 (MST)

I got it... let me upload it in a bit, but don't think it'll be a permanent server. --Shadow Hog 15:35, 24 Jan 2005 (MST)
Okay, nab it here. --Shadow Hog 15:39, 24 Jan 2005 (MST)
That comcast link has been 404'd. Fortunately, this quote is now on the H*R wiki mirror at the following URL: http://hrwiki.org/mirror/bhz.mp3 —THE PAPER PREEEOW 03:26, 15 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Well I did say it wasn't permanent. ;P --Shadow Hog 03:30, 15 Jun 2005 (UTC)

The Curious Incident of the Paste in the Dessert

This page says Mike fed Matt cupcakes with toothpaste inside them. Marzipan says it was brownies with toothpaste inside them. Someone'd better clear that up. --VolatileChemical 12:19, 8 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Hmm. This source (wired.com) says cupcakes, this source (ajc.com) says brownies. -- Tom 12:30, 8 Jul 2005 (UTC)

(Is the header title a reference to the book The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night?) -thatkidsam

Yes, it is, Sam. Yes it is. --VolatileChemical 16:10, 16 Aug 2005 (UTC)

I knew it!! --Kiwi 12:48, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

Maybe it was both. Nice reference, btw. --Jnelson09 17:23, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

Stick It in Detroit

Are we sure that the Matt Chapman here is our Matt? IMDB says "Matt Chapman (VII)", but our Matt is listed as Matt Chapman (II)

I don't understand what you mean. IMDb's Matt Chapman (II) is Matt of The Brothers Chaps. -- Tom 23:54, 24 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Swearing?

In the tastes like chicken interview, he says f***. Could he be losing his morals? Strong Sader

That is redicoulous. that was an interview, not on the official site. I have never heard him swear on the site, so he isn't losing his morals. Rogue Leader / (my talk) 20:21, 4 Oct 2005 (UTC)

I agree with Rogue Leader. To me, showing morals isn't not swearing at all. It's knowing when and where it's appropriate. An interview is more or less casual conversation, in which case it's okay. On the site, though, it wouldn't be appropriate. I think the Brothers Chaps are showing MORE morals than most current Flash cartoonists by not resorting to bad language or gratutious violence to make their cartoons funny. --DorianGray

He isnt loosing his morals thats insane but he dose seem to be the less, um you could say, kids oritented of the 2 a few times on comentairys they have said they restarted the comentairy because Matt swore or he cuts of befor cursing. -hr.png NBBB(Talk · Contributions) 01:38, 22 January 2006 (UTC)

29 or 30?

Tomorrow is 11.1, Matt's B-day. Does he turn 29, or 30? Elcool (talk)(contribs) 15:28, 31 October 2005 (UTC)

According to my amazing mathemetical abilities, E.L., he'll be 29. — THE SMOKING MONKEY 15:43, 31 October 2005 (UTC)
Cool. thanks. And there is no solution in integers for numbers greater then or equal to three. ;) Elcool (talk)(contribs) 15:48, 31 October 2005 (UTC)

Matthew vs. Matt

Yeah I *just* saw where Matthew is listed... it was a rather obscure source but it's true! Without a source I probably would've screamed and hollered and complained and just plain have thrown a fit! ;). But the DNA evidence is good! --Stux 18:38, 18 November 2005 (UTC)

And I'll bet you a millon lbs. of candy that Mike's name is Michael. (But no, I'm not going to change the page until we have some evidence.) — It's dot com 18:49, 18 November 2005 (UTC)
Hmmm... Elcool (talk)(contribs) 18:50, 18 November 2005 (UTC)
Edit Conflict A million lbs? That's an awful lot of candy... But since i'm not really a betting man (I usually lose when I do) I will not bet against you. :) --Stux 18:53, 18 November 2005 (UTC)
Hey, do a Google Search for "Michael Chapman" Homestar Runner. You'll find many related hits, many next to "Matthew Chapman". I'm not sure how much evidence this is, but you might want to consider it. - Joshua 01:06, 19 November 2005 (UTC)
If we're going to have that Burning Horizon Forum thing here, don't you think we should make a fun fact about his letter and donation to the HRWiki? Or is that just too much? - Joshua 21:13, 18 November 2005 (UTC)
I get the feeling Joey didn't want to make a huge deal out of it. You should ask him, though. — It's dot com 21:24, 18 November 2005 (UTC)
Okey dokey. I thought he might, too. I'd understand if he wouldn't. - Joshua
I don't want to make a big deal about the donation, but the letter itself should probably be posted somewhere. If someone wants to add Joshua's edit back in and just remove the part about the check, that'd be fine. — wikisig.gif Joey (talk·edits) 18:43, 19 November 2005 (UTC)

Family Tree

I've made a picture of the Chapman Family Tree. Does anybody mind if I put it up on this page? -AtionSong 22:55, 30 December 2005 (UTC)

All the Real Girls

The IMDB information doesn't list Melissa Palmer. And it's not on her page either. If someone can confirm her role with the film I can add it to IMDB, otherwise the info here should be changed. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 17:59, 28 February 2006 (UTC)

Brown Eyes

It's a small tidbit, but we could add that he has brown eyes. At least that's what it looks like from Peasant's Quest Movie Trailer. » c u t e p e t s r u s « T/C 19:13, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

I don't think it would fit anywhere in the page, but I might as well confirm he that he has brown eyes. Trust me. —Zelinda 02:13, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
o.O — It's dot com 02:19, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
Don't give me those Marzipan eyes. I just have a few pictures (130 or so) of Matt Chapman and from those I can tell they're brown. —Zelinda 02:28, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
I mean, I know you are (or have been) obsessed, but the key to any obsession is not to let it show. ;) — It's dot com 02:30, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
I am not obsessed. I have about as many of Mike (or for that matter, my last visit to the American History Smithsonian). Doesn't everybody have a couple pictures of celebrities stored away? —Zelinda 02:37, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

I don't think it's of any importance that he has brown eyes. This is not an FBI dossier, it's a writeup of what he's done relating to H*R. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 02:35, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

Yoshi's Story

IMDB credits him as doing "various" voices on Yoshi's Story, but this seems unlikely to me, considering the game predates Homestar Runner (as we know it) by a few years. I also wonder about the "Thanks" allegedly credited to him in the 2000 film "George Washington". Anybody here know anything about this? - furrykef (Talk at me) 20:13, 15 June 2007 (UTC)

Craig is listed as a producer for George Washington, so that seems likely. As for Matt's listing on Yoshi's Story, I guess it's possible, since he does do voices. Since it wouldn't have anything to do with Homestar Runner, I don't think it would matter what the date was. But it could just as easily be a fan who thought it sounded similar. -- Tom 20:19, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
I personally think that was either vandalism or a mistake. The game was made in Japan, and none of the voice acting that I recall in that game was in English (or Japanese, for that matter). I don't have any idea why they would have re-recorded the voices in the American version. --Jay (Talk) 20:29, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
A couple pieces of data: the credits for Yoshi's Story from mobygames, and a YouTube video of the ending — Matt Chapman isn't listed on either one. From the comments on the YouTube video,
Where is Matt Chapman in the credits...he did some on the sounds and "voices", right?
From what I remember from reading Wikipedia a few days back, Kazumi Totaka was the one who did the sounds and the "voices" in the game.
On a related note, Tom found this entry for a Matt Chapman, who, from the credits for True Crime: Streets of LA appears to be the one from Homestar Runner. Trey56 20:44, 15 June 2007 (UTC)

Broken Links

Several of the links to endnotes are broken, apparently because the sites hosting the articles have taken them down. 76.114.206.220 03:02, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

I found only one broken link, which I commented out so it won't appear for now. If anyone can find if that article moved somewhere else or summat, that'd be great. Heimstern Läufer 03:08, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

Star Warped

It seems our favourite mad voice actor's had experience with editing Jedi Knight, and it's apparently carried over into more recent endevours... I found this mod for Jedi Knight called Mechanics of the Force part 1 on Massassi.net (and another website that escapes me now, but had the level two years earlier, in '98), and you can find it here: http://www.massassi.net/levels/files/22.shtml. Incidentally, if you do have Jedi Knight, download that baby, it's great. Now, I imagine you're thinking "Surely this can't be the same guy?" upon seeing the author's name, much like I did. But, if you do DL and play the level, you'll notice that not only does the author apparently provide his own voice acting, but does a damn fine job of it, too. Not a smoking gun, but there's more, in our favourite online cartoons:

current_status: Strong Bad, when running from Coach B and Zubs, makes the same footstep noises Kyle Katarn does when he walks. (There are also examples of a running-on-stone sound used all about the series, if I remember right.)

50_emails: Homestar types in 3TDted (or something like that) in an effort to delete an email. 3TD is the name of the main character in MotF. Coincidence?

Anyway, do all y'all reckon this is worth adding to various articles? Evil Egg 13:37, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

The video is mentioned here, along with a Matt Chapman. But considering that this is a Dutch group, I doubt it's the right Matt Chapman. Loafing 00:00, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
