Main Page 11 is a featured article, which means it showcases an important part of the Homestar Runner body of work and/or highlights the fine work of this wiki. We also might just think it's cool. If you see a way this page can be updated or improved without compromising previous work, feel free to contribute.

I don't know if it's necessary to put them on the main page, but since I work in television news, here are the technical terms for some of those events that appear:

• Toons: Homestar's name appears. It's called one of several things:
  • CG (short for "Character Generator," the name of the device that makes them)
  • Chyron (the name of a company that makes a very good character generator)
  • Lower Third (because, if you split the screen into three horizonal strips, it appears in the lower third)
• Characters: The headline/picture combination is usually called an OTS, short for Over The Shoulder because it appears, well, over the anchor's shoulder.
• Downloads: Strong Bad's weather map is shown with a technique called chroma key (or, sometimes bluescreen or greenscreen). The origin of that phrase is too complex to describe here.

Also, the "Channel 4" logo that appears at the lower-right corner of the screen is called a bug. --oddtodd 14:15, 19 Nov 2004 (MST)

They're also called "name super"s.

[edit] mouth not moving either?

I remember reading a couple of days ago a user that posted a fact that mentioned that homestar's month did not move on a certain scroll over when the mouse was moved away from the scroll over. The case is the same as here when you move the mouse over downloads and then move it away quickly. You hear "downloads" but homestar's mouth does not move (for obvious reasons). I found a new glitch related to the Downloads effect. I added it to the artical, but can some other peole test it just in case it isn't just my computer? Thanks.

[edit] Major Glitch

• First, hover over downloads.
• Then right click.
• Click play.

Strong Bad should now be where Homestar Runner should stand and Strong Bad will say "Today's forcast is total crap!" He should also stay until you roll over something elese I think. Then Homestar should say something and he reappears. This does not have to be the flash file.--ONESTOP 18:36, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

We define a glitch as something accessible only by something TBC put in (like a button). So this is not a glitch. Sorry. But if you do see a Main Page glitch, be sure to put it on Main Page Glitches. Bluebry 17:15, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

I found out something similar, hover over downloads, right-click, WHILE Strong Bad is talking, hover over the other buttons, the effects should appear over the weather forecast background.

Using the Greasemonkey All-in-one, this Main Page doesn't go into full screen. TheThingé 15:14, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
