Question

Why weekly featured articles instead of daily featured articles? We're supposed to feature every article on the site - and we'll do it quicker with daily articles. User:60.230.37.94|60.230.37.94 06:53, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

Because not every article is up to snuff yet. Also, there is very little to write on some articles, especially list-based ones. Further, we'd probably run out fairly quickly if we did articles every day instead of every week. We only have about 1900. Even if we could find something to write on every article, we'd run out in about 5 years. And then what would we do? --DorianGray 06:59, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

Lucky Yates Show

Why are there three non-talk page links to the Lucky Yates Show, but the article had never been created? I would create it, but I've never heard of the Lucky Yates Show. Homestar-Winner (talk) 21:33, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

We don't have any details on the content of the appearance at this time is why. We don't know anyone who was able to attend the show. --DorianGray 21:39, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
I don't link any red links look good. Could we remove them? Homestar-Winner (talk) 21:51, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
My take: a red link indicates that we should have an article about a subject, but nobody's created it yet. I think we should leave them, and hopefully somebody with some information will come across one of those links and create the page. Trey56 21:54, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

Image

I desperately need to upload an image. What's an autoconfirmed user? Whatever it is, can I please be one so I can upload this image? Empaire 08:36, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

Hi Empaire. Unless I'm mistaken, you will probably become an autoconfirmed user in the next few hours. Sit tight! Autoconfirmation is just something we do here so that trolls and vandals can't register a username and then immediately start uploading bad images. —BazookaJoe 08:47, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
I'm just curious as to what image it is that desperately needs to be uploaded or the wikiworld will a splode. Danny Lilithborne 10:03, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

Flickering text/logo

Main Page Icon

How can you view the icons for different hollidays like the one with red, green, snow, and a hat? (The Wiki Logo in the top left of every page.)--ONESTOP 20:51, 23 December 2007 (UTC)

Proofreaders?

Is anybody going to change the misspelling of Burnination (BurninIation) in the "What's New" frame? It's been there for two days now. Apparently I can't edit it, so this is my only option.

Fixed. Homestar-Winner (talk) 16:11, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

Podstar Download template...

Is there a Podstar Runner download template similar to {{watch}}? I was trying to find one to add to the latest update.— Bassbone (TALK Strong Mad Has a Posse CONT) 20:44, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

Currently there isn't. The current template ({{Podstar download}}) is just for creating external links in articles. Also, since podcasts are basically downloadable versions of existing content (and not exactly embedded media), I'm not sure if it's absolutely necessary to include a direct link, especially since both the Podstar Runner and toon pages would contain links. --Stux 20:50, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
That's the same with sbemails too, and we have that. The Goblin!! 21:42, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

Recent Toons Template

Where do you go to edit the recent toons template? If I can't, here is the problem:

Enviroment is listed as being posted "JANUARY 7, 2007."

-Sbemailnum314159

Good eye. You can go here to edit it. —BazookaJoe 20:19, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

Unblock

Why isn't there an unblock template? People who think they have been unfairly blocked might want to ask to be unblocked. 124.180.63.58 11:23, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

Generally people in this position should post on a sysop's talk page - probably the sysop who blocked them - petitioning their block. Though, to be honest, I have seen very few blocks, if any at all, which have not been entirely reasonable. The few which were not were quickly corrected. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 12:51, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
Note also that, unlike at Wikipedia, our software is not set up to allow blocked users to edit their own talk pages. This means an unblock template wouldn't work here, since a blocked user cannot add it to their talk page. If a user wishes to contest their block, email is one option. Heimstern Läufer 16:50, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

Has anyone noticed...?

Has anyone noticed that when you enter homestarrunner.com there is a trogdor that pops up?

You were probably the first to notice. Combolations, Elizagerth. —BazookaJoe 19:31, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

Can someone help me?

I can't stay logged in it loggs me out the second I leave the main page. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Which user are you? This can happen if you close your page without logging on. Happened to me a few times. The thing to do is to log in right now then log out. That does the trick. User talk:Sam the Man Sam the Man 22:55, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

I am Gary the legend, and what you said doesn't work.

First, go to the Main Page. If you see in the top-right corner your username, it will say "log out". Click that. Then, log in again. If you are not logged in, just repeat the same process. Hope that works. 23:10, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
Gary, try making sure you have cookies enabled, in your browser's preferences. The Goblin!! 23:22, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

It doesn't work

Wow. I'm puzzled. Why don't you log in. Then go to your preferences and enable cookies. That should work. User talk:Sam the Man Sam the Man 23:54, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
Hey Gary, just checking some things: Which browser are you using? Are you sure that you have cookies enabled in your browser before you log on to the wiki? Loafing 00:22, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
Also, go through Wikipedia:Help:Logging in#Log in problems and see if you can fix it using those instructions. Good luck! Loafing 00:25, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

I'm sorry to keep bothering you guys but for some reason it's not working
Please be more specific and answer the questions. Otherwise, we can't help you. Which browser are you using? Have you made sure that cookies are enabled? Have you tried the suggestion from the Wikipedia help page? Loafing 01:09, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
I am useing Internet explorer and yes I tried the thingy on wikipedia And I checked for cookies
That's odd. I'm sorry, but you'll have to wait for one of our experts to help you out. Loafing 02:11, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
What version of Internet Explorer are you using? (If you're not sure, it's probably either IE6 or IE7... look at those and tell me which one looks like what you're using). --phlip TC 08:24, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

It looks more like Internet Explorer 6...I have a question, does enable mean to get rid of or allow?

To allow. Or better, to make operational; activate. — It's dot com 22:11, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

I think a while ago we blocked a few cookies with norton anti-virus but is there any way to fix that

Google finds this site, which has some detailed instructions on how to enable cookies in NIS... just replace any mention of "www.snpo.org" with "www.hrwiki.org". --phlip TC 00:20, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

Talk Page Question

Is there a template you can use to draw people to your user page or talk page? 124.181.26.71 08:52, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

No. that would be not useful. To attract users to your userpage and talk page, why not contributing more to the wiki, like doing gnome work. Creating useful pages when sbemails and toons come out. User talk:Sam the Man Sam the Man 16:04, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
Your talk page is not a MySpace or a Facebook, and it is not meant for idle chatter. Use a separate site for that. See HRW:TALK for what a talk page is really for. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 16:07, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
Well, Sam and Qer. Man and Maq. Mth and Rma. I believe anonny isp is referring to sigs like yours--in addition to the usual ~~~~, each of you have links to your talk and contribution pages. Frankly, this is something I've been curious about too. o.o --Onamuji 05:09, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
See HRWiki:Signature and Help:Signature. If that's not enough or if you run into a specific problem, I'm happy to help you. Just let me know. Good luck; I look forward to seeing your creativity! OptimisticFool 05:36, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

Image borders

In IE7, I've noticed that when an image on the main page has a height of an odd number of pixels, the bottom portion of the border around it doesn't appear correctly. The image appears to get shifted down a pixel and covers it. I decided to try it in Firefox and the borders all appear fine. But is there any way we can fix that for us die-hard IE users? Still plenty of us around, you know... OptimisticFool 05:58, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

While I'm sure the developers want to ensure good rendering on all browsers, you must also be aware that IE is notoriously non-compliant with the recommendations of the W3C. As such, some problems may require a lot of work to fix in that one browser, and some may be irrpairable. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 20:15, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

new valentine toon: don't call it old timey!

(groan) just because TBC called it "old timey"-which it is- dosn't mean we have to quote them! at LEAST use a heart icon, not homestar's head! SHESH! HaldoHelscome!

Plus, shouldn't old-timey toons have old-timey Homestar's head? 69.246.112.55 01:15, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
Check out {{u}} for the icons that we use. And please be more civil, Haldo. No need to sheesh. Loafing 01:20, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

Should there be a "higher frame rate" section?

I was just thinking this after watching some toons over. The punkin stencils as well as the teen girl squad tenth issue seem to have a slightly higher frame rate than other toons. --99.154.9.191 04:40, 14 February 2008 (UTC)

sleeping

I'm not really good at writing articles and using code and all that, so I thought maybe someone else should make an article about characters sleeping? Just thougt i'd put that out there. --Acam30 23:02, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

I swear that I saw something like a sketchbook of The Cheat in a Strong Badman Style (not the way that he was in real life with the mask and cape, I mean The Cheat's head on top of a human body) somewheres? But I can't find it! Does it even exist? - Alex H.

Never Mind! I found them! - Alex H.

Fast Forwards

Is it just me, or does it seem like we've recently taken to putting a note under fast forward every time a later reference is made, instead of just when there's an actual story element that reappears? Thoughts? — Defender1031*Talk 23:12, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Animation for Yo Gabba Gabba?

While surfing wikipedia, I found that the page for the children's show Yo Gabba Gabba claims the TBC animated a segment for the show. Do we know anything about this? Thanks. --MrsCommanderson 23:49, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

Non-sequitur toon

There's a new toon about Senor Cardgage saying something coherent. But I don't know how to add it to the wiki. What shoud I title the toon, or should I just mention it in the store page? Homestar-Winner (talk) 01:49, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

Forum link

Why is there no link to the forum on the front page? - furrykef (Talk at me) 23:45, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

There's a link to the forum on every page, under "External Links", right below the link to the official site. — It's dot com 01:43, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
Ahh, yes, on the MonoBook skin. I don't use MonoBook. ^^; - furrykef (Talk at me) 23:03, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
The Classic skin doesn't show any links except for those that are in the first section. See Wikipedia with the Classic skin and you'll notice that the "Interaction" section is missing. Just for you, though, I made it so that the lower links will show up when using that skin. — It's dot com 23:39, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
It doesn't really matter to me. ^^; I was just under the (now obviously false) impression that there wasn't a link on the front page for most users. - furrykef (Talk at me) 06:23, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

One time anonnies - new template idea

I've noticed that a lot of times, anonomous edits get reverted and then the anonny never actually edits again. I am concerned that this is because the anonnies are turned off by their first edit being reverted, and don't come back. I feel like we might attract more users if they were somehow made to feel welcome. I therefore propose a template that says something to the effect of "thank you for your contributions, please don't get discouraged, i reverted your post because {{{1}}}, however new users are always appreciated etc." that the people who revert the anonnies can then subst on their talk page, just to let them know that we're not discouraging them. thoughts? — Defender1031*Talk 15:31, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

Instead of an impersonal template, why not just type something to that effect on their talk page? — It's dot com 15:52, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
well, either way it still leaves us with having to get people to star doing it. The point was to bring up my concern. And yes, you're right, a personal message would be good. The thing is making leaving such messages common wiki practice. — Defender1031*Talk 15:58, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

Limozeen LIVE

I thought this would be a good place to mention that Limozeen will be appearing LIVE in Atlanta on March 27!

Impossible, given that 3 of the members are the same person. — Defender1031*Talk 22:43, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
Well, not impossible. But considering the frequency of Matt's voice on the site as of late (there would be no chance he could be rehearsing a band amidst the H*R work), and considering a quick search of Atlanta ticket broker websites shows no concerts at all on that Thursday, I'd call it highly improbable. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 23:02, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
Why would the anonny make it up? Yes, it would be nice if he'd provided a source for his info, but there's no reason to label it improbable at this point, and certainly not impossible. Matt may occasionally play all the characters, but that doesn't mean he's always played them all, or has to. — It's dot com 23:13, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
We should also keep an eye on this forum thread. — It's dot com 23:21, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
It's certainly possible. I mean, there have been live concerts for the Gorillaz and Dethklok, both of which are devoid of members who even exist. -DAGRON 23:24, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
Dot Com, to answer your initial query, anonny could be trolling. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 23:27, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
The anonny is actually from New Jersey and Google can't find anything. I don't think we need to bother with this. Loafing 23:28, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
Of course I considered that he might be trolling when I originally posted. Just seems like an ineffective way to troll 's all. — It's dot com 00:09, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
Frankly, the point of trolling is to titillate and amuse one's self. In this case, the PBS-style moderated discussion is probably annoying the anonny to tears, if I am indeed right. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 00:31, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

So it's true. I think you all owe the anonny an apology. — It's dot com 06:19, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

I'm sorry, anonny! Loafing 11:05, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
Oh what have I done? — Defender1031*Talk 13:57, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
At the risk of sounding smug, I have to point out that there was one other poster in this thread that didn't greet the anonny with instant dismissal. =D -DAGRON 11:51, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Category:Recurring Themes

Where can I further discuss the value that a category of "recurring theme" articles would have? I 1st heard of plans for that category in the talk page of Best/Worst X Ever. Bad Bad Guy 20:09, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

HRWiki talk:Standards is my first thought. Or wherever we discussed the running gags standard, if it's somewhere different from that page. — It's dot com 21:01, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
Category talk:Running Gags is where we first broke them down into their current subcategories. There's also small discussion about changing them to "-related", to further differ them. --DorianGray 21:15, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
You could try HRWiki:Running Gag... It's kinda dead, but it can be brought back to the realm of the living. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 21:18, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

Name This Article

I thought about listing all the toons that contain 1 scene that differs for each viewer (kind of cool, Homestar's video, Marzipan's video, fan club, etc), but the best name I could think of was "Randomized Outcomes". No good? Bad Bad Guy 03:35, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

Well, we already have Category:Toons with Dialogue Alternatives. I'm not sure there's enough to expand on there to make a whole article about. I think the category is enough. --DorianGray 04:36, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

Sewiously, you guys. That is one ugly page.

The sightings pages--website, mostly, of course, but comics, too--are getting really out of hand. Is it possible that we could break down pages into three separate ones: A-H, I-P, Q-Z, or something of the like? Websites has 100+ (I believe; I know it's definitely 90+) different headings, and several of them have their own sub-headings, too.
Obviously, the sightings lists which aren't pushing 32k should be left as they are, but, as the Wiki warns, it can be difficult to edit really long pages with certain browsers. (Says the guy on the shared computer who can't change off of IE.) --Onamuji (b/w T. C.  ) 15:52, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
