Why weekly featured articles instead of daily featured articles? We're supposed to feature every article on the site - and we'll do it quicker with daily articles. User:60.230.37.94|60.230.37.94 06:53, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

It has been suggested that the Main Page be redesigned. Feel free to use its project page for proposed redesigns.
-
:Because not every article is up to snuff yet. Also, there is very little to write on some articles, especially list-based ones. Further, we'd probably run out fairly quickly if we did articles every day instead of every week. We only have about 1900. Even if we could find something to write on every article, we'd run out in about 5 years. And then what would we do? --DorianGray 06:59, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

There are a lot of talk page discussions happening on this wiki. The problem is, this wiki is not very active, so such discussions rarely get consensus and very few things get done. (That's why I'm with a phrase like "I still agree with this.") -
:Currently there isn't.  The current template (Podstar download) is just for creating external links in articles. Also, since podcasts are basically downloadable versions of existing content (and not exactly embedded media), I'm not sure if it's absolutely necessary to include a direct link, especially since both the Podstar Runner and toon pages would contain links. --Stux 20:50, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

Some questions we would like to ask about...
-
Where do you go to edit the recent toons template? If I can't, here is the problem:
+
Hi there, I'm a stranger who wants to ask you some questions.
-
Enviroment is listed as being posted "JANUARY 7, 2007."
+
1) When will ALL the old Flash pages turn to HTML5?
-
-Sbemailnum314159
+
2) When are you going to UNBAN IP addresses who "committed" persistent vandalism?
-
:Good eye. You can go here to edit it. &mdash;BazookaJoe 20:19, 12 January 2008 (UTC)
+
3) If Flash is dead, are you going to cancel HomestarRunner.com ?
-
Unblock
+
4) Why wouldn't we see ANY updates from 2011 to 2014?
-
Why isn't there an unblock template? People who think they have been unfairly blocked might want to ask to be unblocked. 124.180.63.58 11:23, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
+
-
:Generally people in this position should post on a sysop's talk page - probably the sysop who blocked them - petitioning their block. Though, to be honest, I have seen very few blocks, if any at all, which have not been entirely reasonable. The few which were not were quickly corrected. 12:51, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
+
-
::Note also that, unlike at Wikipedia, our software is not set up to allow blocked users to edit their own talk pages. This means an unblock template wouldn't work here, since a blocked user cannot add it to their talk page. If a user wishes to contest their block, email is one option. 16:50, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

+
:1) We don't know. Ask the Brothers Chaps.
-
Thanks man
+
:2) Never. Why should we?
 +
:3) You'll have to be more specific as to what that means exactly. We aren't involved with homestarrunner.com, so we can't take down someone else's website. And The Brothers Chaps are planning to give the site a HTML5 update, so they won't take it down.
 +
:4) Kids, creative burnout, side projects, etc. See HRWiki:Hiatuses for more details.
 +
:5) Their email address used to be brotherschaps@homestarrunner.com, but it was removed from the site's Email page, so it seems @StrongBadActual is now their primary contact method.
 +

:::::Look, I'm not sure what your issues are, but the simple truth is that the best thing for you to do is behave like someone who has never even heard the name "Maudi Algabban" (we are not fooled, we know who you are) and has literally zero curiosity about the name or the user's history, while also showing no particular interest toward all the things you show far too much interest over (such as the Pyongyang reference, the hiatuses, and the possibility of homestarrunner.com being taken down) and never, ever, even for a moment, even consider writing loud yelling, swearing posts demanding people unblock you and give you answers to questions we have no way of answering. Also, make constructive Wiki edits (that means not vandalism, with or without scare quotes), not just Talk page chatter. Basically, you need to start over completely and pretend you are not and were never you and do not care about you - and that doesn't mean to insult yourself, it means do not mention yourself. You've built up far too much bad karma, so it's very likely that even the slightest hint that you are you will be treated with immediate suspicion, and likely result in further blocks. And if you think this is unreasonable, perhaps what you really need to do is to find a way to end your obsession with this Wiki. You've been pulling these bizarre stunts for literal years. -- 23:50, 30 August 2019 (UTC)

One time anonnies - new template idea
+
-

+
-
I've noticed that a lot of times, anonomous edits get reverted and then the anonny never actually edits again. I am concerned that this is because the anonnies are turned off by their first edit being reverted, and don't come back. I feel like we might attract more users if they were somehow made to feel welcome. I therefore propose a template that says something to the effect of "thank you for your contributions, please don't get discouraged, i reverted your post because {}, however new users are always appreciated etc." that the people who revert the anonnies can then subst on their talk page, just to let them know that we're not discouraging them. thoughts? 15:31, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

The sightings pages--website, mostly, of course, but comics, too--are getting really out of hand.  Is it possible that we could break down pages into three separate ones: A-H, I-P, Q-Z, or something of the like?  Websites has 100+ (I believe; I know it's definitely 90+) different headings, and several of them have their own sub-headings, too.<br>

Obviously, the sightings lists which aren't pushing 32k should be left as they are, but, as the Wiki warns, it can be difficult to edit really long pages with certain browsers.  (Says the guy on the shared computer who can't change off of IE.)  -- 15:52, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Discussions

There are a lot of talk page discussions happening on this wiki. The problem is, this wiki is not very active, so such discussions rarely get consensus and very few things get done. (That's why I'm always reviving old discussions with a phrase like "I still agree with this.") I think there should be some way to keep track of all the ongoing discussions. Maybe a HRWiki:Discussions page or something to keep these discussions from becoming inactive. Gfdgsgxgzgdrc 01:37, 6 August 2018 (UTC)

[edit] Some questions we would like to ask about...

Hi there, I'm a stranger who wants to ask you some questions.

1) When will ALL the old Flash pages turn to HTML5?

2) When are you going to UNBAN IP addresses who "committed" persistent vandalism?

3) If Flash is dead, are you going to cancel HomestarRunner.com ?

4) Why wouldn't we see ANY updates from 2011 to 2014?

5) Could y'all please tell us what email The Brothers Chaps have?

--83.185.35.154 18:37, 30 August 2019 (UTC)

1) We don't know. Ask the Brothers Chaps.
2) Never. Why should we?
3) You'll have to be more specific as to what that means exactly. We aren't involved with homestarrunner.com, so we can't take down someone else's website. And The Brothers Chaps are planning to give the site a HTML5 update, so they won't take it down.
4) Kids, creative burnout, side projects, etc. See HRWiki:Hiatuses for more details.
5) Their email address used to be brotherschaps@homestarrunner.com, but it was removed from the site's Email page, so it seems @StrongBadActual is now their primary contact method.
Hope this helps! Gfdgsgxgzgdrc 22:33, 30 August 2019 (UTC)

THAT repeat offender is way worse than CE5, aren't we right? --83.185.35.154 23:36, 30 August 2019 (UTC)
Look, I'm not sure what your issues are, but the simple truth is that the best thing for you to do is behave like someone who has never even heard the name "Maudi Algabban" (we are not fooled, we know who you are) and has literally zero curiosity about the name or the user's history, while also showing no particular interest toward all the things you show far too much interest over (such as the Pyongyang reference, the hiatuses, and the possibility of homestarrunner.com being taken down) and never, ever, even for a moment, even consider writing loud yelling, swearing posts demanding people unblock you and give you answers to questions we have no way of answering. --Jay stuck at home (Talk) 23:50, 30 August 2019 (UTC)
I must tell you all that I'm NOTHING but a stranger, but if you would like to send some ANGRY emails to him, his email address is -redacted- . Maudi MUST be punished and he's WAY the worst contributor on Homestar Runner Wiki! LET'S GET HIM!!!! --83.185.35.154 23:57, 30 August 2019 (UTC)

If you just want your name, like this:Minecraft lover147, you just put 3 tildes after your post (~~~). If you want to do your name and the time, do the aforementioned 4 tildes. To do just the time, like this: 05:11, 9 February 2020 (UTC), do 5 tildes (~~~~~).

I disagree. YouTube is really more of a dumping ground for all the old Flash stuff that is still available on the site, but might not be should the Flash plug be pulled. And though I prefer to avoid YouTube, I don't think the Homestar Runner YouTube channel has been updated in months. Because YouTube is a place where absolutely nothing happens. I would mention that most new content is now posted on Twitter, but much of it doesn't qualify as full toons that demand full attention. (This may change, but not in the foreseeable future). -- 68.37.43.131 13:35, 26 January 2020 (UTC)
There actually is SOME original content on there, if you bother to look. ToaJuaraevo01 File:Homsar-in-motion.gif 04:12, 27 January 2020 (UTC)
What exactly do you mean "new content watchlist"? YouTube-exclusive content is already listed and documented in numerous places. Gfdgsgxgzgdrc 07:38, 27 January 2020 (UTC)

[edit] Redesign

I was just looking at the HRWiki:Main page redesign, and it had something entitled, "On this day..." for H*R stuff that happened on that day in history. I like the idea of that, but when I looked on it, it had stuff for February 9th. Where I live, it's still February 8th. I know this wiki is centered around UTC, but it could be very confusing for someone who doesn't know that. -Minecraft lover147 04:50, 9 February 2020 (UTC)

[edit] Sick Homestar, BRAH

Why is homestar sick looking on the main page button? Found no other place to post this question --Jeffjman[2] 16:04, 16 March 2020 (UTC)

[edit] What's new correction

The "What's New" should have the Fan Costumes from Thanksgiving at the bottom. Wolf O'Donnel 03:52, 13 May 2020 (UTC)

I think whoever edited What's New last opted to take the Fan Costumes out instead, because the Halloween toon is a bigger, more significant update. The importance of updates should be considered alongside their recent,,,ness. A big toon should take priority over a short, and so on. --DorianGray 04:33, 13 May 2020 (UTC)
I did that. I was under the impression that the box was meant to primarily show the updates on the site's "what's new" button. The Halloween toon is there, while the Fan Costumes is not. Gfdgsgxgzgdrc 04:37, 13 May 2020 (UTC)
A good rule of thumb is that we should list everything within the last month and anything that's still in the What's New button, and if we still have space to fill, we can include older things that you can actually watch, like toons. — It's dot com 14:07, 13 May 2020 (UTC)
