So here instead of the Mod forum?  I don't know, I personally think the Mod forum is better.  However, I'll say here that I do not think I'm ready to start moving stuff over here. I think the links to toons and areas of the official site should appear at the top of every page. They are already that way on the Marzipan's Answering Machine transcript pages, and you'll also notice that my beta official version of pom pom (email) has the links at the top. I actually use the wiki to navigate to pages on the Homestar Runner website. If I'm looking for strong bad email "mile", for instance, I'll just type "hrw StrongBadEmail/mile" into my browser. Firefox (using keywords) converts that to http://www.hrwiki.org/index.php?page=StrongBadEmail/mile and then I click the "Watch it!" link to see the toon. Does anyone else agree that it would be better for the links to be more prominently placed at the top of the page? -- JoeyDay 11:39, 20 Jul 2004 (MST)

Another thing:  Look around Wikipedia.  Usually the "summary" is before the table of contents. Now, the screenshot really kind of messes that up, but how should we do that?    Bah, I need to get back to work. Just some more "food for thought", I guess. -- Tom 11:58, 20 Jul 2004 (MST)

Hi there, I'm a stranger who wants to ask you some questions.
-
Upload file
+
1) When will ALL the old Flash pages turn to HTML5?
-
Can we turn this off? I haven't tested it, and don't want to try to at work, but I can only imagine the kind of crap that would get uploaded.  And I'm not just talking low quality, I'm talking stuff kids shouldn't even think about...  --  Tom 11:57, 20 Jul 2004 (MST)
+
2) When are you going to UNBAN IP addresses who "committed" persistent vandalism?
-
:Well, unless you turned it off yourself, it looks as though it's disabled by default. I kinda want to figure out how to turn it on, but will leave it off for now. I've never really liked the idea of pulling the images from elsewhere. -- JoeyDay 12:20, 20 Jul 2004 (MST)
+
3) If Flash is dead, are you going to cancel HomestarRunner.com ?
-
::I didn't turn it off.  Hm.  Odd.  But you're exactly right.  Kids could just as easily put a link to an inappropriate image.  And as to the upload thing, I like the idea, but would that increase our bandwidth draw by several orders of magnitude?  I like using pretty big .png files.  I know they are compact, but still...  I mean we are pulling down around a GB a day now.  Hey, is MediaWiki going to up the bandwidth too? I'd imagine it would, with all this stuff.  --  Tom
+
4) Why wouldn't we see ANY updates from 2011 to 2014?
-
:::That really depends on the page weight, but MediaWiki (with the current skin) seems to have a bit more markup overhead than Tavi, upon superficial inspection. I have no idea how much of an impact it'll have. But hosting all of the images from this server may indeed cause bandwidth to spike. If nothing else, it'll be in our best interest to size down all of the screenshots as much as possible. -- InterruptorJones 13:14, 20 Jul 2004 (MST)
+
5) Could y'all please tell us what email The Brothers Chaps have?
-
::::Okay, image uploading has been on for half an hour or so. I uploaded that image for SBEmail pom pom. From what I can see, the image must be uploaded in order to do all that fancy thumbnail stuff (assuming it would work on our server, but it won't since ImageMagick isn't installed -- I'm getting in touch with our host to see about that). Anyway, check out the special image pages: Special:imagelist, Special:unusedimages. I think these will facilitate management of images pretty well. As long as we keep an eye on what's going on in there, we should be fine. -- JoeyDay 13:32, 20 Jul 2004 (MST)

--83.185.35.154 18:37, 30 August 2019 (UTC)
 +
:1) We don't know. Ask the Brothers Chaps.
 +
:2) Never. Why should we?
 +
:3) You'll have to be more specific as to what that means exactly. We aren't involved with homestarrunner.com, so we can't take down someone else's website. And The Brothers Chaps are planning to give the site a HTML5 update, so they won't take it down.
 +
:4) Kids, creative burnout, side projects, etc. See HRWiki:Hiatuses for more details.
 +
:5) Their email address used to be brotherschaps@homestarrunner.com, but it was removed from the site's Email page, so it seems @StrongBadActual is now their primary contact method.
 +

:::::Look, I'm not sure what your issues are, but the simple truth is that the best thing for you to do is behave like someone who has never even heard the name "Maudi Algabban" (we are not fooled, we know who you are) and has literally zero curiosity about the name or the user's history, while also showing no particular interest toward all the things you show far too much interest over (such as the Pyongyang reference, the hiatuses, and the possibility of homestarrunner.com being taken down) and never, ever, even for a moment, even consider writing loud yelling, swearing posts demanding people unblock you and give you answers to questions we have no way of answering. Also, make constructive Wiki edits (that means not vandalism, with or without scare quotes), not just Talk page chatter. Basically, you need to start over completely and pretend you are not and were never you and do not care about you - and that doesn't mean to insult yourself, it means do not mention yourself. You've built up far too much bad karma, so it's very likely that even the slightest hint that you are you will be treated with immediate suspicion, and likely result in further blocks. And if you think this is unreasonable, perhaps what you really need to do is to find a way to end your obsession with this Wiki. Well, I fixed the way the links are displaying, but for some reason, the names of the pages are still Capitalized when you land on the page. I'm assuming from here on out when we create new pages they'll be named correctly, but someone will have to go mucking around in the SQL tables to fix the current names. 2) When are you going to UNBAN IP addresses who "committed" persistent vandalism?

3) If Flash is dead, are you going to cancel HomestarRunner.com ?

4) Why wouldn't we see ANY updates from 2011 to 2014?

5) Could y'all please tell us what email The Brothers Chaps have?

--83.185.35.154 18:37, 30 August 2019 (UTC)

1) We don't know. Ask the Brothers Chaps.
2) Never. Why should we?
3) You'll have to be more specific as to what that means exactly. We aren't involved with homestarrunner.com, so we can't take down someone else's website. And The Brothers Chaps are planning to give the site a HTML5 update, so they won't take it down.
4) Kids, creative burnout, side projects, etc. See HRWiki:Hiatuses for more details.
5) Their email address used to be brotherschaps@homestarrunner.com, but it was removed from the site's Email page, so it seems @StrongBadActual is now their primary contact method.
Hope this helps! Gfdgsgxgzgdrc 22:33, 30 August 2019 (UTC)
Concerning the answer #2, why never? --83.185.35.154 22:50, 30 August 2019 (UTC)

THAT repeat offender is way worse than CE5, aren't we right? --83.185.35.154 23:36, 30 August 2019 (UTC)
Look, I'm not sure what your issues are, but the simple truth is that the best thing for you to do is behave like someone who has never even heard the name "Maudi Algabban" (we are not fooled, we know who you are) and has literally zero curiosity about the name or the user's history, while also showing no particular interest toward all the things you show far too much interest over (such as the Pyongyang reference, the hiatuses, and the possibility of homestarrunner.com being taken down) and never, ever, even for a moment, even consider writing loud yelling, swearing posts demanding people unblock you and give you answers to questions we have no way of answering. You've been pulling these bizarre stunts for literal years. --Jay (Talk) 23:50, 30 August 2019 (UTC)
I must tell you all that I'm NOTHING but a stranger, but if you would like to send some ANGRY emails to him, his email address is -redacted- . Maudi MUST be punished and he's WAY the worst contributor on Homestar Runner Wiki! LET'S GET HIM!!!! --83.185.35.154 23:57, 30 August 2019 (UTC)
*sigh* I tried. --Jay (Talk) 23:59, 30 August 2019 (UTC)

Netiquette w/r/t interviews on defunct sites

As I clean up various pages on the site I'm finding that many cited interviews and links are dead and gone.

See HRWiki talk:Standards → Interviews on defunct sites

Hi! Can you make this site secure please, https. Thanks kindly!

I have literally no idea what you mean by that. -Minecraft lover147 04:53, 9 February 2020 (UTC)

YouTube channel?

Maybe you could consider adding the HomestarRunner YouTube channel to the new content watchlist, since that's where TBC seems to be doing most of their work, now?

If you just want your name, like this:Minecraft lover147, you just put 3 tildes after your post (~~~). If you want to do your name and the time, do the aforementioned 4 tildes. To do just the time, like this: 05:11, 9 February 2020 (UTC), do 5 tildes (~~~~~).

I disagree. YouTube is really more of a dumping ground for all the old Flash stuff that is still available on the site, but might not be should the Flash plug be pulled. And though I prefer to avoid YouTube, I don't think the Homestar Runner YouTube channel has been updated in months. Because YouTube is a place where absolutely nothing happens. I would mention that most new content is now posted on Twitter, but much of it doesn't qualify as full toons that demand full attention. (This may change, but not in the foreseeable future). -- 68.37.43.131 13:35, 26 January 2020 (UTC)
There actually is SOME original content on there, if you bother to look. ToaJuaraevo01 File:Homsar-in-motion.gif 04:12, 27 January 2020 (UTC)
What exactly do you mean "new content watchlist"? YouTube-exclusive content is already listed and documented in numerous places. Gfdgsgxgzgdrc 07:38, 27 January 2020 (UTC)

Redesign

I was just looking at the HRWiki:Main page redesign, and it had something entitled, "On this day..." for H*R stuff that happened on that day in history. I like the idea of that, but when I looked on it, it had stuff for February 9th. Where I live, it's still February 8th. I know this wiki is centered around UTC, but it could be very confusing for someone who doesn't know that. -Minecraft lover147 04:50, 9 February 2020 (UTC)

Sick Homestar, BRAH

Why is homestar sick looking on the main page button? Found no other place to post this question --Jeffjman[2] 16:04, 16 March 2020 (UTC)
