How are we gonna do this one? --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 07:32, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

No idea at all, which is pretty much why all I put there was a template. --Blu Aardvark (talk) (edits) 07:34, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
How about a different section for each song, with the exception of the original version of Because It's Midnite (we can just link to Because It's Midnite, assuming they're same (I think they are)). Trey56 07:39, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
I own the CD and I'm not sure they're identical exactly, but they're definitely close enough if they're not. I can compare when I find said CD. --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 07:43, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
Oh, I guess there's nothing more to sloshy's song than was in the QotW. So, we can just link to sloshy for the original version of that song too. Also, it looks like perhaps we should put the original lyrics to "We Don't Even Really Care About You" on sloshy — that seems like the best place for them, rather than creating a separate page at We Don't Even Really Care About You... Trey56 07:45, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
BTW, the reason I thought it might not have been the original was because the lead singer doesn't seem to have Larry's overexaggerated voice, but it's like that on the CD too. Maybe that was pre-Larry's-overexaggerated-voice-being-a-standard. ;) --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 07:47, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
This looks great as a format to start with. Trey56 07:57, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
I don't think it is the same one as on the CD. Trust me, it's different. Lyrically, it's the same, but the sound is different. I'm not a music expert or anything, so I can't toss out any terms or instruments, but it IS different. I'd bet my (forum) account on it. --DorianGray 08:06, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
I listened to both together. I didn't listen all the way through, but the intros were 100% identical. --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 08:11, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
I'm currently playing both versions simultaneously. There is no difference. --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 08:13, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
Waaaait a minute, are you all suggesting that the CD version (played by LIMOZEEN) is the same as the one here (played by SLOSHY)? They're completely different musically and the only similarities between the lead vocals are because they're both Matt Chapman. —Zelinda 13:17, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
No, he's talking about the music you hear when you click "hear the original". --phlip TC 13:19, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
It sounds to me like the sound quality was reduced. It may be higher than it normally is for the toons, but CD quality it ain't. If you're talking mp3, CD quality is at about 128 kbps (that's KiloBits Per Second) and this sounds like it may be somewhere around half that rate. Which, I think, is consistent with it being converted from stereophonic (stereo) to monaural (mono). — User:ACupOfCoffee@ 17:34, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
The audio quality in this toon is 22kHz, mono, 32kbit/s MP3 (cf: CD audio, which is 44kHz, stereo, 16bit lossless - comparable to MP3 at around 128 or 192 kbps. Also cf: bike thief's audio is 11kHz, mono, 16kbit/s MP3). Just throwing that pointless piece of trivia out there. --phlip TC 17:45, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

Members of sloshy

Shouldnt there be a page about the members of sloshy? Or is that to the least importance. Butterda Foop The DJ.T/CFoop 12:13, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

Unfortunately, there's not much more known about them yet, but sloshy could probably be updated, at very least with a picture of their cartoon versions. Trey56 14:28, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

Length

Do you think it's worth a Remark that both songs are exactly the same length (1:35)? It just seems like it might be interesting, or possibly even deliberate. 69.70.248.73 12:39, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

I also notice that Because, It's Midnite is missing a verse; if that verse was there, they would no longer be the same length. I don't know how intentional it is, but hey, always open to discussion on the Talk page. --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 21:33, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
Since nobody's said anything against it, I'm gonna go ahead and put that in the article. It's more of a point of interest than a fact, so I'm putting it in Remarks. Dementedc 00:23, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

Chucks and not Sneakers

The left foot has a chuck on, not a sneaker. I'm pretty sure it is but just to be cautious: anyone dis/agree? suǝʇʇıʞ ƃuıɥɔund 19:54, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

Good thing we have a page about them. --DorianGray 21:46, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
Then it's good times for everybody! suǝʇʇıʞ ƃuıɥɔund 23:33, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

Music Styles

I dunno about anyone else, but for the Limozeen versions I got a huge Zeppelin vibe from the first and a Blue Oyster Cult vibe from the other. Just throwing it out there.

Strange. I thought the Limozeen cover of We Don't Really Even Care sounded a lot like Guns N' Roses, and the sloshy cover of Because It's Midnite sounded a lot like a generic alternative rock band.

I dont really get a Zeppelin vibe. Maybe JET, but Zeppelin's a little softer.

Rrolling the arrrs

I noticed that the Limozeen song seems to roll the Rs even when there aren't any. Awexome 22:44, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

I really doubt that's a 'distortion', I think he's just trilling.

.. Wait, there's a second H*R CD???

Scrolling Background

Don't you think the seam in the space background counts as a real-world reference? I mean, if you look at the repeating backgrounds used in old Hanna-Barbera cartoons (e.g. Scooby-Doo), you'll notice that you can see the seams in those as well...and "But They're In Space!" is a parody of those kinds of old cartoons.--Tenka Muteki 23:44, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

TBC have more explicitly parodied this in the past, at the end little animal. I do think it's intentional, but I'm not sure if how to word it as a fun fact. Also, I should note that they used this same background (with the same seam) in best thing. Trey56 01:04, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

Pavement

Sloshy playing Limozeen's "Because, It's Midnite" sounds unmistakably like Pavement.

It's a pretty darn accurate send-up.

Is pavement a band or a song? I R F 03:22, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
I don't know anything about Pavement, but I assume it's a band from the info on sloshy's talk page.--~ SlipStream 03:23, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
Pavement's an indie rock band. --Mario2.PNG Super Martyo boing! 03:24, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

Pavement's rather notorious for being unfathomable musically, not even really singing as much as talking along with the beat (not rap... you know what I mean. I hope ^_^;) Danny Lilithborne 10:26, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

I thought they sounded like the Stones. Awexome 16:53, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

Limozeen In Space

Could the fact that Limozeen is chasing Sloshy in space refer to them having been "knocked off the charts in the forbidden zone by an alternative rock band"? Awexome 16:53, 18 September 2007 (UTC) first thing tell me where is the girl of the band? then it will work.

Bad real world reference

Real-World References
The page title is a variation of the catch phrase 'The devil made me do it!' popularized by comedian Flip Wilson.
Or, maybe the label made them do it, rather than saying it's some quote that's been changed in order to emulate it.

A split seven inch, eh?

Shouldn't there be a reference to the Marzipan's Answering Machine where the cheat and kot did a split single together? -Telamon 22:02, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

Cover Art

I was rearranging my parents' CD collection, and I found this CD. The cover art is very similar to what's seen in this toon. But I'm not sure if it's a coincidence or not. Shwoo 05:04, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

Doesn't look like a coincidence to me. suǝʇʇıʞ ƃuıɥɔund 17:57, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

Short or not short, that is the question

I'm puzzled by the controversy on whether or not this is a short, which is consequently causing the Trivia bit about this being the longest "short" on the site. I thought that the purpose of this Wiki was to abide by the categories set by TBC and provide extra, related information to the best of our collective ability. Limozeen vs. sloshy is classified by TBC as a "short" and when you combine the 4 songs, it is clearly the longest one there is. To me, it is pretty clear then that the fact about the run time is a relevant piece of information, worthy of being included in our wiki. wbwolf (t | ed) 05:34, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

Nobody ever said it wasn't a short. I'm saying it's not a toon (in the general accepted sense of the word), and thus does not qualify for longest short toon, regardless of its running length. — It's dot com 05:45, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

we need a page about music singles now

now that there are at least two music singles in the H*R universe, (The New KOT vs DJ Teh Cheat and this one) I think we should have a page on Singles maybe --NERD42  email  talk   h²g²  pedia  uncyc  16:02, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
