DVD Contents

I elected to use "DVD Contents" instead of "External Links". Whatcha think? -- AgentSeethroo 13:13, 6 Aug 2004 (MST)

Transcribing

Woah. What the dang crap! Is there a huge chunk missing from the Transcript, or is it just me?? -- AgentSeethroo 13:18, 6 Aug 2004 (MST)

Yeah, I think it was never done. I also think there is only one transcript, but there should be two or something. -- Tom 13:48, 6 Aug 2004 (MST)
There should be three. Old version, New version, and Commentary. Unless the new and old versions are the same...so...yeah. -- AgentSeethroo 13:50, 6 Aug 2004 (MST)
The old and new versions are decidedly different. --Ogog

I've done the New Version transcript as well as a few others, but the Commentary transcript is going to be really hard, since pausing the toon doesn't pause the commentary track when you need it to. Any idea as to how I can pause the commentary track so I can make transcribing this that much easier? --TheNintenGenius 16:24, 19 Sep 2004 (MST)

I suggest recording the commentary(onto a WAV file, onto a tape, whatever) so you can pause and rewind as you please. --Ogog

OK, I have a transcript for the New Version Commentary up now, but I know it's not 100% accurate (though it's probably at least 90% to 95% accurate), as there were some parts I couldn't quite figure out. If anybody could please help fix up any dialogue I got incorrect, I'd appreciate it quite a bit, as I worked about 2 or 3 hours on this. Thanks! --TheNintenGenius 13:24, 20 Sep 2004 (MST)

Closed STUFF

These were on the STUFF page and declined. If you wish to contest these, leave a note here, but don't allow it to be confused with any of the original votes.

The Subliminal Advertisement

In Coach Z's second 'Score Zone' illustration, the lines are clearly made to resemble a skull-and-crossbones.

  • Decline. That's the joke. --Upsilon
  • Decline. I think this is noted in the transcript. --TheNintenGenius 14:42, 29 Nov 2004 (MST)
  • Decline. It's obvious to me, and probably most of the Internet-accessing English-speaking world. --oddtodd 00:55, 1 Dec 2004 (MST)
  • Decline. If they "are clearly made" as you say they are then there is no need to point it out. --mikeaitch 14:08, 1 Dec 2004 (EST)
    • Decline. as the rule says "if it is obvious vote on it, if it is THAT obvious, delort it.--J to the sag
      • Second. It's... clearly so, yes, that's the idea. -- Mithent 13:41, 7 Dec 2004 (MST)
  • I deleted this. I don't think anyone minds. --Tim333
  • That's not the subliminal advertising! This is: ScoreXZone And Duh, they look like a skull and cross bones! Furthermore... DECLINED-- Bonkava!

David Attenborough?

In the transcirpt it say that the Discovery Network host sounds like David Attenborough, this might just be me, but doesn't it sound more like Steve Irwin or am I just crazy?

It might sound more like David Attenborough (But I don't know, I've never heard him before) but I strongly believe that it's supposed to sound like ol' Stevie. BTW, I fixed your typo.

LOOM

I just noticed that the Yello Dello eating the oyster insides is reminiscent of a similar scene with a gull in the LucasArts MS-DOS adventure game LOOM. Can anyone else confirm this? 24.216.179.61 19:47, 25 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Splitting

This page is really long and unwieldy. Does anyone favor splitting this page up and linking them with a template? — It's dot com 17:34, 21 October 2005 (UTC)

Aye. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 17:36, 21 October 2005 (UTC)

I'm fine with that, but before we do, I think it needs to be renamed "In Search of the Yello Dello" as that's what it's called on the site. - Joshua 17:43, 21 October 2005 (UTC)

Should the Fun Facts be split or left in a group? I'm personally okay with them staying in one place. — It's dot com 02:33, 22 October 2005 (UTC)

Isn't it odd

Don't you think it is weird that this cartoon had so many problems at the beginning but the toons that came before it didn't have any problems Smallowman 15:27, 21 August 2006 (UTC)

I thought that too. According to the Everything Else, Volume 2 commentary:
MATT: So I purposely drew, uh, all of the drawings in this—

MIKE: Yeah, explain yourself, young Chapman!

MATT: Well, I was drawing some storyboards for it, and in the storyboards, as sort of a joke to Mike when I would show them to him, the drawings got more and more exaggerated with each frame of the storyboard. So then Mike was like, "Oh, I thought that was how you were going to draw the cartoon – I think it would be funnier if you just did that, so…
So basically, they were being silly. It's the storyboard's fault. But what I really want to know is were the deleted scenes (excluding #4) really removed from the original toon for the reasons stated or did they create them especially for the "DVD" release as a joke? And why the freaking crap is Strong Bad wearing oven gloves?!?! – The Chort 12:27, 3 September 2008 (UTC)

Remark?

At the beginning, 'today' is Marzipan's birthday. However, Homestar takes days and nights to think of the solution. So how could it still be Marzipan's birthday at the end? Helloo?

Well, anonny, I tell ya: These older cartoons were a bit surreal. It probably wasn't yet at the beginning, maybe a week until --Jnelson09 01:50, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

Ending Music

While it does sound similar to the Donkey Kong intro, it's pretty obvious from the appearance of the Pitfall scorpion that it is actually the Pitfall sound effect for when the player dies.

Moving?

Shouldn't we move "In Search of the Yello Dello New Version" to In Search of the Yello Dello (New Version), and the same with the old? Having it jumbled together with no separation seems a little awkward-looking. --75.5.176.233 03:09, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

I'd guess the main reason we didn't do it like that is because everything else (Commentary, Theatrical Trailer, etc.) fits just fine. I'm not really in favor of moving them, but neither am I outright opposed to doing so. I'd like to hear some more support for moving them before we took any action. — It's dot com 03:16, 9 December 2008 (UTC)
Just saying "The previous longest toon, In Search of the Yello Dello New Version." Sounds too jumbled together. And, in some way, we are making it seem like the official name for the title, which it's never implied on the site that it is (though I doubt this is that valid of an argument). --75.5.176.233 22:15, 9 December 2008 (UTC)
Well, the article for the toon (including all its versions and parts of the DVD) is this one. Each of the specialized pages is dedicated almost exclusively to the transcripts of the various parts of the overall toon. All the fun facts and supporting information are in this article, because the different pieces aren't considered separate toons. (One could make a case that the actual running time for this toon is all of its parts combined.) Maybe we should add "Transcript" to the sub-articles (In Search of the Yello Dello New Version Transcript, etc.). — It's dot com 02:50, 10 December 2008 (UTC)
Now that you mention it, I just thought of something. Shouldn't we keep the Fun Fact's in the respective transcripts' articles, instead of just the main article? It's like Roomisode 1 and its responses, the Fun Facts for the "transcript" are in its own article, separate from the main (though I did move them), because it wouldn't make sense having it all in one article, not to mention confusing. --75.5.176.233 21:58, 10 December 2008 (UTC)
When I first split the transcripts off from the main article three years ago, I didn't think so, but now I think it might be a good idea. If we did, the set of pages would need to be overhauled a bit (as well as the ones on The King of Town DVD). — It's dot com 22:46, 10 December 2008 (UTC)
