I have an idea. I think we should move this article to '''Homestar Runner and Strong Bad's telationship''', and there it would list moments in which Homestar and Strong Bad fight, moments in which they're mean to each other and moments in which they're nice to each other. "There is a continuous emnity between Homestar Runner and Strong Bad, although Homestar often doesn't recognize it" — that phrase is pure [[Wikipedia:Fanon (fiction)|fanon]], as is the rest of the current article. I also think an article on The Cheat and Marzipan's Relationship is in order. {{User:Darth Katana X/sig}}

I think it's an example of Homestar and Strong Bad getting along when he grills for him and calls him a "chumpian" and Homestar calls him a "grillmasta." Also Strong Bad mentions going out to eat at a Mexican Restaurant with Homestar two weeks ago (in condiments), as though they hang out occasionally in a social setting. Maybe they are getting along better since Date Night?

Revision as of 12:09, 20 June 2009

Ding! Homestar Runner and Strong Bad's Relationship is a featured article, which means it showcases an important part of the Homestar Runner body of work and/or highlights the fine work of this wiki. We also might just think it's cool. If you see a way this page can be updated or improved without compromising previous work, feel free to contribute.

At the very least, this page is in desperate need of a move. Thunderbird 03:12, 11 February 2006 (UTC)

Dude, seriously. You could at least make it a better name. I don't think this really needs a discussion, it's just a bad page. Delort it. Seriously (Talk) 03:33, 11 February 2006 (UTC)
At first glance, yes, it does look bad, but this page has a bit of promise in it. Let's get a new name and go from there. — Lapper (talk) 03:37, 11 February 2006 (UTC)
What should it be? I'm thinking......Nah, I can't think of anything. Seriously (Talk) 14:13, 11 February 2006 (UTC)

How about calling the page "Homestar Runner vs. Strong Bad". -Private Martin of the Homestarmy

I concur with Mr. Martin. teeeffoh! 18:18, 11 February 2006 (UTC)

I say delete it altogether. SaltyTalk! 18:24, 11 February 2006 (UTC)

This page just doesn't have potential. Besides the name, There's also not much that you can put in the page. It just doesn't seem right. Seriously (Talk) 18:53, 11 February 2006 (UTC)
Eesh. A page whose very name is an opinion. (An opinion with facts behind it, but an opinion nonetheless.) Baleet it. --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 19:02, 11 February 2006 (UTC)

I don't think the page should be deleated. I think that by using the name that Private Martin came up with is a very good idea, since it fits the page far better. I think that this page does have potential, since violence between the two characters is something notable in the Homestar Runner Canon. Don't deleat it, just change the subject a little and rename it. -Sbu

That sophisticated remark makes me think you should get a username, people would love you. But back on track. While this page does have a bit of potential, there really aren't many appearances. I think it's just kind of useless. Seriously (Talk) 21:19, 11 February 2006 (UTC)

Not enough appearances? Have you seen some of the other running gags on the list? Some are so obscure, I didn't even notice them! I mean, if somebody made a page about Melonade as a running gag, even though it has only made four appearances, would you agree with them? Anyway, I agree with Sbu there; the violence between H*R and SB is worth acknowledging. -Private Martin of the Homestarmy

I say delete. Should we have a page for this AND How much Strong Bad hates Strong Sad AND a page for how much Strong Bad hates the KoT? Let's face it Strong Bad is a Bad Guy...bad guy, bad guy. I R F 13:17, 13 February 2006 (UTC)
As for the part about making a page for how much Strong Bad hates Strong Sad, I like to direct your attention to this. Has Matt? (talk) 13:29, 13 February 2006 (UTC)

I see your point Robot Fish, but the emnity between Homestar and Strong Bad is of Particular importance. It always has been and always will be and is a "Founding Father" (Father of Confederation for the Canadian fans) of sorts for what Homestar Runner is today. It was toons about the conflict between these two characters that helped to kickstart the site. This page should be kept, but if you insist on deleating it, then at the very least move the subject matter to Homestar's character page. And finally, thanks for your support Private!-Sbu

No problem Sbu. I'd add something else, but that powerful comment is pretty... powerful? as a side note, thanks for acknowledging us Canadian fans.-User: Private Martin of the Homestarmy

Another thing, how does this debate we're having work? Who decides whether or not to keep the page, and how?-User: Private Martin of the Homestarmy

A general consensus of the community decides the page's fate. Also, we have a similar page: Strong Bad hurting Strong Sad. If we can keep that, we can keep this, I think. --DorianGray

I say keep it. It's germane to the whole H*R phenomenon. It's the keystone of the whole freakin' operation. Qermaq 04:53, 14 February 2006 (UTC)

To echo DorianGray's response, generally content is kept until it is deemed that a majority of the users in good standing feel it should go. We try to err on keeping material rather deleting it except when it's some ambiguos "real-world reference" that is too ify. When I say members in good standing, what I mean is that the longer that you are here, the more weight your comments hold. This is not written law but I generally yeild to more senior users such as JoeyDay, Homestar Coder, Tom, The Lapper, Its dot com, etc... So if three brand new user wants something but JoeyDay and The Lapper say no, it wouldn't stay. Also, you are for getting the verticleline in your sig, you should type it like this [[User: Private Martin of the Homestarmy|Private Martin of the Homestarmy]] or go here to learn how to create a signature. "...and that's the end of my show, donk" I R F 21:14, 15 February 2006 (UTC)
Senior user? You flatter me, Invisible Robot Fish, by listing me alongside sysops. I am far from senior. — Lapper (talk) 21:20, 15 February 2006 (UTC)
I consider you among those ranks. Its not often that I see your edits reverted. It's not the amount time you've been here but the quality of edits. I don't think I'd get any dissenting opinion when I say that you are one of the more respected users around... and of course to those that didn't get named, I could have had obviously mentioned many more. I R F 04:05, 16 February 2006 (UTC)

I believe that of the two votes for the deletion of this article, the second, made by Jay, has been rectified with the move of this page. As for Seriously's vote, I see his point but his views are, frankly, outnumbered. Unless someone has an astounding argument as to why this page should be deleted, perhaps the article is to be kept? — Lapper (talk) 04:16, 16 February 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, I feel okay with it sticking around. Thunderbird 04:23, 16 February 2006 (UTC)
Actually, I still feel that this is one of many superfluous pages even with the updated title - but it's better now. I simply forgot all about this page, and that's why I didn't answer for about a month until the discussion was over. >_> But if you guys wanna keep it, I'm not gonna make a big deal over it. --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 23:11, 11 March 2006 (UTC)

Wow. Everyone's saying that this page needs to be deleted. I think it's great! There are some other pages that I would think are even shorter that need to be deleted. But wow, tough crowd. HRfan222 10:58, 2 April 2006

Should be deleted. TheShins

If we have a page about Bubs' Napkins I'm sure we can keep this one. Austio talk 04:10, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

Cleanup and revision

I don't particularly want to have a position on whether it should stay or not, but let's say that if it does, it should definitely have some work done. For instance, at the moment, the first two lines of text are fine, and factual. The third is confusing and/or just plain wrong, and the fourth meanders ponderously through speculation. Perhaps the aforementioned Strong Bad Hurting Strong Sad could be taken as a model? —AbdiViklas 05:49, 16 February 2006 (UTC)

If we're going to keep this, it needs a LOT of improvement to bring it up to the quality of Strong Bad Hurting Strong Sad. Maybe we should describe of each of the appearances or add some more pictures. – The Chort 12:34, 16 February 2006 (UTC)

It looks like the general consensus is to keep, but needs cleanup. I'll go ahead and tag accordingly. — Lapper (talk) 16:14, 16 February 2006 (UTC)

Title change

I have an idea. I think we should move this article to Homestar Runner and Strong Bad's telationship, and there it would list moments in which Homestar and Strong Bad fight, moments in which they're mean to each other and moments in which they're nice to each other. "There is a continuous emnity between Homestar Runner and Strong Bad, although Homestar often doesn't recognize it" — that phrase is pure fanon, as is the rest of the current article. I also think an article on The Cheat and Marzipan's Relationship is in order. Darth Katana X (discussionitem_icon.gif user.gif mail_icon.gif)
