This page and Strong Bad Evolution need some serious cleanup. The pictures need to be uploaded here and thumbnailed, and there needs to be some sort of introductory text. — InterruptorJones[[]]

There's a wallpaper with the evolution of Homestar on it as well, dates included. Might be worth including the link here, but I'll leave that option to whomever created the page. :) --Southpaw018 10:47, 1 Nov 2004 (MST)

Wouldn't PNGs be better? There's some noticeable JPG artefacts even in the thumbnails - this doesn't seem to be a problem on the Strong Bad page though. -- Mithent 13:14, 1 Nov 2004 (MST)

Out of date

This is actually outdated, because I have noticed in one of the recent Strong Bad emails that Homestar's eyes were flipped back to the way the used to be, and that his shirt was one again slightly brighter than before. If we can get a new picture of this, that would be great. On the other hand, this means that this page needs to be cleaned up.

  • Homestar's eyes were never "flipped". It depends on where his focus is. I wish people would stop attempting to add it to this page. --Jay 20:56, 27 Mar 2005 (MST)

Note from Character Evolution

Its being started by Piscez, but anyone can help. The format I'm using is high quality jpgs, 250 pixels tall (variable width) and cropped tightly around the character. Individual images for each version of the character, so they can be shuffled around on this page as it grows.

  • Okay, maybe 250 pixels is too large, but lemme get the page all formated and I can change that later.

Picture size

I actually think 150 pixels would be a much better width. I think 220 is a bit large. --Upsilon

The Yellow Dello?

Should we REALLY include In Search of the Yello Dello pictures in every evolution page? Look at the 'toons from before The Yello Dello (The King of Town DVD and Marshmallow's Last Stand in particular) and you'll quickly realize that The Yello Dello was done in a very intentionally inconsistent style. None of the changes made to character models in The Yello Dello stuck around. So why include them on the evolution pages? I mean, we might as well include The Prince of Town. --Jay 11:10, 26 Jan 2005 (MST)

Well, looking back, I see that the Yello Dello pictures are only on Homestar and Strong Sad's pages. Still, that's two too many for my tastes. --Jay 11:12, 26 Jan 2005 (MST)
  • Well, they are stages in development of the characters. Pop tire 21:23, 24 Mar 2005 (MST)
    • No, they're really not. The styles as we know them existed in a more-or-less constant form both before and after Yello Dello - only YD itself diverged, and the changes weren't kept. And thanks, Joshua. I don't like making major changes like that without at least one other person agreeing. --Jay 20:53, 27 Mar 2005 (MST)
I'm gonna kill them. If anyone disagrees with this, you can revert it back, I guess. --Joshua 19:48, 27 Mar 2005 (MST)
  • We could always keep the ones that are 'stages' between designs like Homestar and Marzipan and ignore the completely different designs, like Strong Mad. Just a thought. -Anonymous.
Even Homestar Runner and Marzipan have weird designs in the Yello Dello.
Well, Marzipan looks kinda like she could be used on her Evolution page, but Homestar keeps changing proportions (At one point he looks like Homsar) and his eyes are weird. Strong Sad, Strong Bad, Coach Z and Pom-Pom could be used, too. Poopsmith Z
  • No, I agree with Jay. I think Yello Dello is an exception, as the entire toon seems to have been animated in a jokey style.TK600

Eyes

Okay, what's the difference between the eyes from the 4th and current version? Kvb 15:31, 30 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Beats me. I see no difference, and acekirby is making a point of reverting all our fixing. I assumed that his problem was that "the eyes flipped" - which is not true - but that doesn't seem to be it. Right now, as is, we have two "the eyes have become their current shape"s... --Jay (Talk) 15:33, 30 Apr 2005 (UTC)
No, I was wrong. The point is that I thought that I was reverting something I wasn't. My bad. It's fixed. --acekirby13 15:35, 30 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Underbite

His underbite is currently a bit different than is last listed here. It is curved more. Take any recent picture of H*R and compare it to the one here and you'll see what I mean...(And also, offhand, I think the wiki should add more info regarding H*R's voice. His speech patterns have changed over time, like Strong Bad's [but not to as much of an extent.]) TK600 23:50, 3 May 2005 (UTC)

King of Town New Version

I don't think this counts as a design. It looks more like they were trying to update the animation while still retaining some elements of the older style. Aurora the Homestar Coder 17:44, 8 Jun 2005 (UTC)

I hate that...

You know that style of Homestar seen in The Luau? For some reason I hate that style so much... -Kinsey

I know, so do I. I don't know why, though. Maybe it's because the curved underbite makes him look sad. -Poopsmith Z

Or maybe it's because he looks so... so FAT. -Kinsey

Maybe you should be discussing these type things on the forum? Homestramy20|Talk 05:10, 20 Sep 2005 (UTC)

new design

Maybe its just me, but I noticed a slight difference in the length of his legs in Cool Things. Can anyone back me up, or am I imagining things?--Martin925 21:37, 23 Aug 2005 (UTC)

I don't know about that, but I did notice that when Homestars mouth is shaped when saying something like "o" is diffrent, and is less circular in the Main Page 23. I can't do so, but maybe someone could get a image of this? Homestramy20|Talk 05:08, 20 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Homestar's Shirt

I find that in some emails and toons (such as The Interview and A Jorb Well Done) that Homestar's shirt is a dark pink as opposed to his current red one, yet this hasn't been mentioned anywhere. You can tell because his shirt's color doesn't match his hat's in those particular toons and emails like it usually does. Check it out.

She Loves Me!

Isn't the "She Loves Me!" character design the same as the third one, only with different feet? DEI DAT VMdatvm center\super contra

Design Confusion

In A Jorb Well Done, which came out in March 2001, Homestar had his current design. In The Luau, which came out LATER in May 2001, Homestar had his sixth design, taking a step backwards in evolution. Huh?

A Jorb Well Done was actually done in the old style (same as The Luau) originally, but it had a design revamp and was remade in a newer style at a later date. --DorianGray 20:26, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
