Ding! Happy Fireworks is a featured article, which means it showcases an important part of the Homestar Runner body of work and/or highlights the fine work of this wiki. We also might just think it's cool. If you see a way this page can be updated or improved without compromising previous work, feel free to contribute.

[edit] Random Chatter

Why does The Cheat explode multiple times in this toon?Shouldn't he only explode once?-BOBLAND$

Has this aired on the website yet?--Gordon 584 11:58 4 Jul. 2005 (Eastern USA Time) yes. i watched it -User: Penguindude

I guess Homestar's "secret hot date" remark means switching places with the Cheat wasn't the best idea...

[edit] Four Yorkshiremen

Aside from the fact that there are only two of them, did anyone else think there were similarities between the opening of Coach Z and Bubs trying to outdo each other at boasting and the Monty Python 'Four Yorkshiremen' routine?- Grover Junior

Similarities, sure. They both are jokes based on an actual real-world phenomenon wherein people get into these one-upmanship discussions. Is this worth noting in any way? No. --Eytanz 18:40, 5 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Well, thank you for enlightening me on 'real-world phenomenon'. Yeah, boasting competitions are right up there with Aurora Borealis and complete solar eclipses; a true spectacle. It's not just direction of the conversation that struck me as similar, it was also the manner in which they are seated and drinking, it just brought the image to mind straight away, particularly the newer versions of the sketch as perfromed by contemporary comediens who present the characters in a far less formal way than the originals - as far as I'm concerned, this is grounds for a reference query and considering the stretched fun facts people tend to add to the wiki I'm being somewhat considerate. If I thought that the similarities were something extra-special then I wouldn't have asked for the opinions of other wiki users and clearly you thought my inference was vague. Is that worth being rude to me in any way? No. -Grover Junior

[edit] "Wait for it..."

Very far-fetched, but can the "Wait for it..." be a reference to radio?

If so, it's likely a reference to more than just radio. EDSMILDE

[edit] View/Watch, Watch/View

Earlier the external links said "Watch Happy Fireworks", "Watch the Flash File". I changed it to "View the Flash File", since that's what the rest of the toons are like. Now, they both say "View". What are they supposed to be? EDSMILDE PS I just changed it to "watch"

Man this cartoon is pretty well drawn and is realistic like any other internet animation wouldn't have the cardboard marzipan flop and move like that.

[edit] Confirm

"The reason Marzipan was replaced with cardboard was because Missy Palmer was out of town." Where has this been stated? —FireBird|Talk 04:20, 5 Jul 2005 (UTC)

I think this is all speculation currently small_logo.pngUsername-talk 04:21, 5 Jul 2005 (UTC)
This has been suggested by the transcript, but not confirmed:
BUBS: Marzipan's still out of town for the summer, eh Homestar?
-BazookaJoe 04:23, 5 Jul 2005 (UTC)
Speculation doesn't belong on the wiki. I'ma remove it untill we get some proof. —FireBird|Talk 04:24, 5 Jul 2005 (UTC)
Agreed. I wasn't the one who added the fact, but I took the hint that Missy is probably gone for a while. -BazookaJoe 04:29, 5 Jul 2005 (UTC)
Marzy hasn't been used for a while, or any female character for that matter, and a cardboard marzipan seemed to be the next best thing for the Chaps to animate. Rogue Leader
Yeah, come to think of it, when was the last time Marzipan appeared? Was it do over on May 16, 2005? -BazookaJoe 01:55, 9 Jul 2005 (UTC)
Yep, it was. Almost a month ago. small_logo.pngUsername-talk 01:57, 9 Jul 2005 (UTC)
And it was only for like, 5 seconds. Rogue Leader

[edit] The Cheat Fireworks

Shouldn't it be posted as an inside reference that they use The Cheat as fireworks because he has a habit of his head exploding? Ookelaylay 21:07, 5 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Someone thought it should be STUFF'd even though it's noted every single other time it comes up. --Jay (Talk) 21:08, 5 Jul 2005 (UTC)

One way or another, it needs to be noted. All the other pages about toons with the Cheat's head exploding have links to that page. There is no reason for there not to be a link on this page. Someone who's not familiar with the gag might not know that the Cheat's head explodes other times and thus wouldn't know to look for it.

It is in STUFF right now, but it is being overwhelmingly accepted. It should be on the page in the next few days.
