Ding! Halloween Costumes is a featured article, which means it showcases an important part of the Homestar Runner body of work and/or highlights the fine work of this wiki. We also might just think it's cool. If you see a way this page can be updated or improved without compromising previous work, feel free to contribute.

If we are to keep this then the "Halloween Costumes" section on the seperate character pages needs to link to this page. → FireBird

Ah, there it is. I was wondering where in the Wiki the costumes info would be. Still, the pictures and info are nice, so I think just a link to this page would be appropriate. Any objections? Plus, here's my newest idea. What about a seperate column of pictures right beside the other one, (We'll make them all smaller soon, maybe 150px or something) With ACTUAL pictures of the characters they're dressing up as? I think it's a good idea, and would really add to this page, plus fill it up a bit. If there are no objections within about a day or so I'll go ahead and add the space and Picture names for the new column. Thanks for all your guy's help, especially FireBird and The Paper, and the tables should all be roughed out within a day or so. -- Thunderbird 15:27, 24 Nov 2004 (MST)
I really don't think we need the pictures of the people they're dressed up as if they have seperate links (i.e. Wikipedia links). But yeah, a link to this page on every characters "Halloween Costumes" section would be nice. → FireBird
I've already uploaded the remaining pictures from Homestarloween Party. I should have checked this talk page first, but now I know at least someone would rather I not upload the remaining ones. I'll hold out until I get a response on whether or not I should continue to upload new images. --The Paper 16:38, 24 Nov 2004 (MST)
Awsome, 150px looks good. Feel free to keep uploading, as long as they're at least that wide, in order to line up all the columns. So nobody likes my comparison pictures idea? Oh well... -- Thunderbird 16:49, 24 Nov 2004 (MST)

Okay, I took the liberty of uploading all images for the Fairstival. But since The Master Of Screenshots is already pretty much in charge of screens, if any aren't up to code feel free to change them. I'm just trying to be a pic help. er. Helper. You can go ahead and do the 3 Times Funjob, I'm gonna probably start going to the info section now. Unless the screens aren't up soon. Or I finish Paper Mario 2. But go ahead and upload and change, and thanks for your help. -- Thunderbird 22:26, 24 Nov 2004 (MST)

Correction. I uploaded them, but they're not on the page? Master, why is this? Is there some kind of time delay or something? Either way, they're there. So... Do whatcha can. Please. Thanks. -- Thunderbird 22:36, 24 Nov 2004 (MST) Oh, it was a time delay. All is well. -- Thunderbird 22:39, 24 Nov 2004 (MST) Oh wow, lots are off size. No matter, I will re-upload. I suck at this. Master, I'm going to bed. Can you fix my column? It's just going from bad to worse. I'm gonna stick to the info section for now... -- Thunderbird 22:52, 24 Nov 2004 (MST)

Forget all my previous posts. I suppose I'm just too impaitant for time delays. Never mind, all is well. -- Thunderbird 09:49, 25 Nov 2004 (MST)

Alright, all the pics are now uploaded, all thats left is the rest of the info on the characters, and the accompanying sources. Then maybe I'll start going through and trying to get a pic on at least one of all the sources. Anyone who wants to can help with that. -- Thunderbird 23:31, 25 Nov 2004 (MST)
Added a few sources here and there, along with some text mainly from Wikipedia articles - I'm trying my best to have equal amounts of textual information for the various people, but I'm finding that rather difficult due to lack of content for some people - take Mars Blackman or Flavor Flav, for example. I could trim some text from the current 'explanations' we've gathered thus far, but I feel that would take away from the content somewhat - What does someone else think? --The Paper 10:38, 1 Dec 2004 (MST)
I think the main thing is just getting it all there. Once that's done I'll do some extra research on the little known guys, and crop some of the better known guys. But you have some room as far as the picture sizes go. For instance, 'The Goblin As Strong Bad As The Bee' doesn't have much info, and it also can't fit much before it starts pushing the picture. The text size doesn't have to match up to each one exactly, as long as they match up approx. to their picture counterparts. Sound good? [[User:Thunderbird L17|⇔Thunderbird⇔]] 19:12, 2 Dec 2004 (MST)

Is the spoiler warning really needed? Anyone on this site, looking at this page, have likely already seen the toon anyways. I dunno, if everyone feels that it's really needed then leave it, but is there a spoiler warning anywhere else on the whole site, or just here? I added a link to the Rolling Stone cover Cobain was on. I'm not sure if that link will work in an hour; so if it doesn't, here's the article and the cover. -- Tom 09:10, 6 Dec 2004 (MST)

Size Problems?

As it stands, "Halloween Costumes" is the 5th largest page on the site. And as long as we keep adding more about the costumes, it's just going to increase. So what about doing what they did with the DVD when they separated into 3 disks, and separate the main page into a kind of each particular toon Sub-Page system. It would mean basically breaking this page up into I think 5 sub-pages, with a link to each one. This page probably does take a long time to load on many computers, and so this kind of thing might be prudent. The pages would still be size enough, but not "unmanagably large". Especially once the next toon comes out next Oct. Does anyone have any comments on this? If so, should we do this soon, or wait until we have more info on the characters? [[User:Thunderbird L17|⇔Thunderbird⇔]] 14:49, 8 Dec 2004 (MST)

Actually, I think some of the descriptions are a bit too long. I would favor something more like two sentences for each costume, and more only if needed. I really don't feel that something like "Joey Ramone died in his sleep after a five-year battle with prostate cancer... He will be sorely missed." has any place on this page. Mister Mister 05:47, 7 Mar 2005 (MST)
The opinion at the end, I'd have to agree with you. But the fact about dying of Cancer, that's not much of a stretch. Once it starts talking about kids and dogs, that's too much information. Thunderbird 02:20, 2 May 2005 (UTC)
I think splitting the page is the best idea, much like what happened in Stinkoman 20X6 Walkthrough. Although I don't see what's the matter with long descriptions, though. They don't stretch the page at all: Carmen Sandiego is the only costume to have a longer description than pic, and only by a small margin. -- Joshua 02:39, 2 May 2005 (UTC)
Oh yea, i just meant a rough outline. They're not bios, just basic information. Thunderbird 04:56, 26 May 2005 (UTC)

Correlations?

I think each character usually or sometimes dresses in category. Marzipan is usually a musician. The KOT is usually dressed as a food ad. Strong Mad is usually an athlete. The Cheat dresses as some small guy. Pom Pom usually dresses as something round, like him...etc.

Well some of them are wroughly right, such as Strong Mad being the Athlete, Coach Z often a rapper, ect. But The Cheat and Pom Pom are kinda obvious... Not really any way to work into the page, unless the characters ALWAYS were in a catagory, which they aren't. Thunderbird 04:55, 26 May 2005 (UTC)

Split it?

This page is pretty long as it is and every Halloween will add more pictures to this more then heavy page. Why don't we have every Halloween cartoon a page for itself? Like Stinkoman 20X6 Walkthroughs. E.L. Cool 05:23, 19 May 2005 (UTC)

We've been thinking about that. Luckily we have until October to decide. The question is weather to split according to toon, or character. Characters would make it more... Comparable at a glance. Whatever happens though, once it splits I'm definently going to work in the rejected costumes from the Sketchbook (museum) at the same time. Thunderbird 04:53, 26 May 2005 (UTC)
I don't think we need costumes page per a character. We already have them listed on each of the characters page. If we made a page for each toon, we could link them to the costume description from the character's page. E.L. Cool 11:52, 26 May 2005 (UTC)

Running Gag?

I noticed the category was added and taken away a couple times, so I'll just come clean right now. I was the one that originally added it, but I see now that it isn't. My bad. Thunderbird 23:41, 31 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Kool-aid man

I found this loop cartoon that looks like the kool-aid man crashing through the wall. [1]. Should that be shown?

Thanks, but a simple article for each works fine. This site is simply to answer questions, not to link to entertaining media clips. Thunderbird 00:55, 2 Sep 2005 (UTC)

The Bumblebee Guy

That he is dressed as "The Bee" is likely a reference to The Simpson's "The Bumblebee Man", used as a generic Spanish-language TV character, because of Strong Bad's Mexican wrestling mask-like head and accent, despite The Goblin As Strong Bad’s claim that he is "the bee... from nature."

Umm... no? I highly doubt that's what Strong Bad/The Goblin's costume is referencing. Noticably, he says that he's "the bee... from nature." —Gafaddict Image:Gafaddict sigpic.gif (Talk | Contribs.) 16:44, 3 Sep 2005 (UTC)
I'd change it to possibly a reference. TBC's are simpsons fans, so it could be. Or at least inspired. Thunderbird 19:15, 3 Sep 2005 (UTC)
When I see that costume, I'm reminded more of the "bee girl" from the Blind Melon video for "No Rain." --ISlayedTheKerrek 01:24, 27 October 2005 (UTC)
This is really inconclusive. I suggest replacing it with basic information about the bee...from nature. Nowhere is he referred to as "Bumblebee Man" or even a bumblebee, much less an obscure element of a random music video. - KookykmanImage:kookysig.gif(t)(c)(r)

Izzy

is likely the least popular of all Olympic mascots

I think the Athens 2004 mascots EASILY beat Izzy in this category. I mean, I didn't see a problem with Izzy. Anyone else agree? The Mascots -DMurphy 20:55, 27 October 2005 (UTC)

Theo Huxtable

Theo Huxtable was NOT the main character on Wikipedia:The Cosby Show. The main character was Heathcliff Huxtable. Theo was his son. — User:ACupOfCoffee@ 08:16, 1 November 2005 (UTC)

Then change it to a main character. He was listed in the main credits, and several episodes revolved around him. — It's dot com 08:18, 1 November 2005 (UTC)
I did, but it got changed. It think it might have been twice. I really just mentioned it to explain why it needed to be that way.

External Links

Dang it—after linking just about everything in this year's category, I noticed how the right-hand column is supposed to work. I seriously need to go to bed right now, though; would somebody else clean up my mess? Much appreciated! —AbdiViklas 08:21, 1 November 2005 (UTC)

It looks like Jay ultimately fixed it, though I don't think he ever saw this. Next question: if a costume represents a character from a movie, TV show, or video game, and we have links both to an article about the body of work as a whole and about the character in particular, which should go where? Right now we have: Homestar: movie linked in Explanations, character linked in External links. Then Pom Pom reverses the order with actor first, then movie; Coach Z, too, goes from the specific (episode) to the general (show). Then it's back to the original with Homsar: game series first, then character; the rest follow this pattern. —AbdiViklas 04:27, 4 November 2005 (UTC)

The 2005 costumes

Is it just me, or did this year's costumes really disappoint? Don't get me wrong- I liked some of them, namely the KoT as Colonel Sanders (another fitting costume for the foodaholic King, if I do say so myself). But it just didn't have the same feel, IMO, as the other years. --ISlayedTheKerrek 21:24, 1 November 2005 (UTC)

This topic would probably be better on the forum. (But the Jambi, Toad, Tingle and Beaker costumes are hilarious!) Homestar Coderhomestar-coder-sig.gif 22:00, 1 November 2005 (UTC)
They didn't disappoint me. I actually really liked them a lot - because I could recognise a bunch. - Joshua 23:43, 1 November 2005 (UTC)

To Whom It May Concern

Beaker (Muppet) on the Wikipedia redirects to Dr. Bunsen Honeydew, as does Bunsen Honeydew. Thought you ought to know. smileyface.PNG11945 (Talk/Ctrbs) 14:01, 2 November 2005 (UTC)

Links to IMDB, wikipedia

I think we should set up some kind of standard for consistency here. I wanted to add a link to the Wikipedia entry to Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure on the Wikipedia, thinking it would be a little more useful (since it already has an IMDB link within it). It turns out most movies do have a link only to it's IMDB entry... except Tron. Go figure. I reversed the links but I still think that most of these movies should have links to Wikipedia, as in general it's our source of choice, and many of these entries have movies on Wikipedia but not links. --Stux 14:13, 4 November 2005 (UTC)

I used to prefer imdb links, but now I prefer Wikipedia links. Wikipedia usually has more in the way of explanation, and links to the imdb anyway. Homestar Coderhomestar-coder-sig.gif 16:37, 4 November 2005 (UTC)

Suggestions for next year's halloween costumes

I've come up with some ideas for the characters to dress up as:

  • strong mad: The incredible hulk, or anything like that.
  • strong bad: Spawn (Al Simmons).
  • the cheat: ?
  • King of town: Some star wars character, possibly darth sidious?
  • homestar runner: ?
  • coach z: 50 cent?
  • poopsmith: Maybe some warhammer 40000 character (he usually dress up as a perculiary(sp) character?
  • Homsar: Some lord of the rings character?
  • bubs: Lando calrissian?
  • pom pom: Ninja turtle?
  • marzipan: no clue.
  • strong sad: ?

okay i admit, i don't know what costumes some of the character can have, but the SB and SM costumes i think really well. Nikolce Kocovski 11:29, 17 December 2005 (UTC)

With Halloween all up on us, I’ve had some of my own ideas for who should be what. However, I have too many ideas for each character to narrow down to just one each. So here they all are, in alphabetical order:
  1. Bubs: Eddie (from Rocky Horror), Mr. T, Morpheus (from Matrix trilogy)
  2. The Cheat: Elroy Jetson, Rocky J. Squirrel, Winnie the Pooh
  3. Coach Z: Darryl McDaniels, Big Daddy Kane, Chuck D
  4. Homestar Runner: Leo Gallagher, Steve Austin (from The $6,000,000 Man), Harold Green (from The Red Green Show)
  5. King of Town: Cookie Monster, John Hammond (from Jurassic Park), Pillsbury Doughboy
  6. Marzipan: Judy Jetson, Storm, Wednesday Addams
  7. Pom Pom: Norm Peterson (from Cheers), Tim the Enchanter, Jolly Green Giant
  8. Poopsmith: Bobba Fett, A Borg, Jimmy Page
  9. Strong Bad: Gene Simmons, Boris Badenov, Cobra Commander
  10. Strong Mad: Ken Masters (from Street Fighter series), Dennis Rodman, Hulk Hogan
  11. Strong Sad: Sean Nelson, Sid Vicious, Tony James

EASTER EGGS:

  1. Homsar: Garth Algar, Kenny McCormick (from South Park), Waldo (as in Where's...)
  2. Senor Cardgage: Apu Nahasapeemapetilon MHarrington 23:41, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
As Dot Com already said, this is not the appropriate place for this. Post it on the fanstuff wiki or the forum. Loafing 00:44, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
Unfortunately, I can't log into that website. I tried to use the one I use here, but I can't get in. Can you tell me how to do that? Until I can, can't I please put the costume ideas here? Besides, this is a spot for suggestions for Halloween costumes, right? MHarrington 02:21, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
I think there's a good reason for not keeping them here (if everybody did that, it would be a long page full of fanstuff, instead of a discussion of the article at hand). I would suggest that you put them on your own user page, but HRWiki:User space unfortunately discourages posting fanstuff on your page. My best recommendation would be to contact the administrators at the Fanstuff Wiki and see if you can get back into your account. Good luck, Trey56 02:31, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
