Better name?

Judging by previous names for SB's Papers, shouldn't we call it Newer Paper, or New New Paper? USER:Sbemail Checker Dan

First of all, be aware that this character has no official name. When something like this happens, we usually pick a name that describes the character in such a way that everyone that reads it thinks "Ohhhh, THAT character!" A good example is Visor Robot, which we called because it was a robot with a visor. "New Paper" is called "New Paper" because that's what Strong Bad called it in the paper. Someone chose the name "Letter Paper" for this one because it looks like a letter. If we called it "Newer Paper" or "New New Paper", there's a risk of confusion with New Paper (and if Strong Bad goes through several papers over the coming weeks, things would get a bit silly: New New New New Paper anyone?). I say stick with Letter Paper for now until an official name is given (although it should really be called envelope paper...). – The Chort 14:46, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
OH! I get it. USER:Sbemail Checker Dan
Yeah, i was actually thinking it's an interdepartmental envelope, not a letter. Also, when i first saw this page title, or indeed, when i'd see a page titled "Envelope Paper" i'd think it was about the kind of paper used to make letters or envelopes. I can't really think of any way to fix that though. — Defender1031*Talk 14:52, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
It isn't even really a paper. It's just an envelope with "Click HERE to email strong bad" written on it. But I have a feeling we're going to keep the word "paper" in the name one way or the other. free 14:55, 13 July 2009 (UTC) (This was written before the move)
How about Inter-Department Envelope. I know we're reaching for a name with "Paper" in it, but this is only paper in the sense that envelopes are typically made of paper. It doesn't fit the narrower definition of paper. — It's dot com 15:35, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
How about the IDD Paper? Platinum789hi

Jumping the gun

Aren't we jumping the gun a bit on this? We can't be sure that this is the real replacement for the New Paper, since this could (and I think it's somewhat implied that it is, since he's borrowing his work computer rather than getting a new one) just be a transition e-mail between the Lappy and whatever comes next, and thus this would just be a one-off thing to fit with the work computer theme. --ComputerBox 15:59, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

We can always change it if it isn't. We just have to assume. free 16:07, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
I'd say keep the page for now and see what happens. If SB gets new stuff, this can always be merged.
I'm with ComputerBox; not only is it far too soon to assume this is a replacement, but do we have articles on Supra Modern Telegram Paper or Constitutional Paper (those are piped links before someone says something clever) or anything like that? So what's special about this one other than some Paper or another getting burnt in the previous email? It's also not a proper pseudocharacter, at least not as much as the real Papers are: no one regards it as an actual character. --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 17:41, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
I say wait until next week, as it's too early to decide whether to keep this article or not. We'll need to see if Strong Bad gets a different paper next week before we can properly discuss this. Perhaps we'll need a Other Papers article if TBC decide to use a different paper every week. – The Chort 17:45, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
Agreed (with Jay; danged edit conflicts); I thought the same thing when I first saw this article. It's *far* too early to assume this is the "New New Paper". Though it might not hurt to have a page called Other Papers or somesuch, to catalog all these one-shot alternates... -YKHi. I'm Ayjo! 17:46, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
{reply to Jay} I can see where you're coming from, and could support not having this article if we can find a proper way to cover it elsewhere. So, where will we cover it? The other two papers you mention are covered in The Paper, if I'm not mistaken, on the assumption that they're just variants on The Paper. I don't think we can say the same about this guy, since the previous sbemail strongly suggests that no paper survived the Lappy explosion. Heimstern Läufer 17:47, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
Re:YK, that might be worth considering. I'd like to see what such an article would entail. Heimstern Läufer 17:49, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
I think "Other Papers" is a good solution. --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 17:51, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
Note that I suggested "Other Papers" if TBC decide to use a different paper each week for the next few emails. A permanent replacement may arrive as soon as next week. If enough variations exist already though (is three enough?), then we could go ahead and create the article now. – The Chort 17:58, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
I don't agree with the title of "Other Papers". But, changing it to something like, "Other paper and paper variations", would make the article a little more worth while ( though the title is long). By adding paper variations to that article, we could easily get rid of the "When it's not The Paper" section to The Paper. --76.224.216.122 19:40, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
I think it's okay to stick with what we have (although perhaps under a new name) until we get more information. Whether this turns out to be a one-off joke will go a long way toward determining whether this article should exist, and we won't know that for at least a week. In the meantime, I think we should remove the TBD notice, since this article is only two clicks from the main page. — It's dot com 20:51, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
I think it's too early to call right now. We should wait one or two emails until we can fully call it..... I mean, come on, Strong Bad is using the Corpy now. I think it sort of fits it. But I don't really care. Let's just keep it for now until more emails come. User:doctorwho295 July 13, 2009

Ok, everyone, now that independent has been released, let's continue this discussion. Envelope Paper has been replaced with Virtual Paper. What do we do now? I'm open to all suggestions. – The Chort 17:30, 12 August 2009 (UTC)

I say we keep the article, because the Corpy NT6 had only one email checked on it (from work) until imaginary, yet we kept it's article as an "Other Computer", so why shouldn't we keep this one as an "Other Paper"? That Game Dude 386 16:49, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
I'm with that gamer dude! Espemon333 01:08, 9 September 2009 (UTC)
BUT, the Corpy had more appearences (dullard, Biz Cas Fri 1-3, 4 branches, SBEmail 169 Deleted Scene), so I say we create a Papers artical and have a list of every paper with Main Article links to The Paper, New Paper, and maybe Compéper. Then, we could get rid of "When It's Not The Paper". Email Checkin' Dan 15:17, 20 September 2009 (UTC)

New Page: Other Papers?

I think we should make a Strong Bad's Other Printers page or The Paper Variations or something and combine this page with that one. Because if we have a page for this, why not this one? Or the one from crazy cartoon and mile? -- Gfdgsgxgzgdrc 20:44, 20 February 2015 (UTC)

Second'd! TheThin 16:08, 6 April 2017 (UTC)
I made a draft of the page here. Gfdgsgxgzgdrc 22:16, 27 August 2018 (UTC)
That seems like a prooty grood idea. DEI DAT VMdatvm center\super contra 10:33, 30 August 2018 (UTC)
I like The Paper Variations or "Other The Papers" but I'd rather keep the topic as wide as possible and avoid "Strong Bad's Other Printers". I updated the template since we're merging and redirecting content. --Stux 21:02, 25 February 2021 (UTC)
