Holy crap?
I asked about this over in Talk:Running Gags, but I figured I'd ask here as well, since this is a more relevant article. The phrase "Holy crap!" was just a commonly-used phrase on H*R, but it's evolved into a real running gag since several characters (most notably the King of Town) make fun of Strong Bad for using the phrase, and in fact the email lady...ing was an intentional parody of his early evolution.
So I'm wondering if anyone thinks it's worth taking the time to catalog all the occurrences of "Holy crap!" in H*R, perhaps to expand this article or create a new one. I figured originally that the main article would just be called "Crap", and "Crapfully Yours" would be a subsection, along with "Holy Crap!" and other uses of the word. What do people think? — KieferSkunk (talk) — 20:21, 3 January 2006 (UTC)
- I'd like that. It sounds like a good idea to me. --DorianGray
- To me, these gags are two different (albeit related) phenomena: one is limited to the characters of the site itself (largely Strong Bad), while the other involves Strong Bad's interactions with those who email him. I find that difference enough to make them two different running gags, and therefore I like the status quo, with two seperate articles with prominent links to each other. I can understand, though, how others might disagree with that assessment, so that's just my two cents. Heimstern Läufer 00:48, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, that's what It's dot com and I ended up doing, as well - I had merged this article with the new Crap page, but then we put it back here and linked the articles to each other. I moved what were formerly the "Fun Facts" for this page over to "Crap", though, as the only one relevant to "Crapfully Yours" was Strong Bad's crying at the end of virus. (That one's in the main list now.) — KieferSkunk (talk) — 00:52, 4 January 2006 (UTC)

"(sigh) BrothaCheese"
I always thought the heavy sigh in vacation was because he thought "BrothaCheese" was a dumb name. He has been known to find it annoying when people sign their emails with "screennames" (hockeyman, monkeydude, sinstudly17) Maybe a "This might also be..." addendum to that item is in order? Octan 14:27, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
- I kind of doubt this. First, it is known that SB is annoyed when people sign their Emails with "crapfully yours". Second, I don't know that he's ever really been annoyed at someone's silly name, it's more just that he makes fun of names like sinstudly17, monkeydude and Coolio da Fabio. Heimstern Läufer 14:38, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
- I know this is YEARS old, but i do have an arguement to that. If he was upset with "With Crap" he should've said {sigh} with crap, BrothaCheese. Instead, he sighed before the red-iculous name, meaning that's what he was upset about. — SBE-mail Checker Dan (Talk | contribs) 02:10, 2 January 2010 (left unsigned)
- It appears this has been resurrected. First, the fact that he sighed after the "crap" signature does not mean he wasn't annoyed with it. When one is in the middle of reading something, it's not uncommon to put an emotional reaction after what one reads since you're in the middle of something. And as I've already pointed out, SB is practically never seriously annoyed at someone's name, just makes fun of it. Heimstern Läufer 00:30, 15 October 2011 (UTC)
- I say leave it. I really don't see how "BrothaCheese" is any dumber than the majority of obviously-fake emailer names, and SB doesn't snark at it the way he usually does when he thinks the name is stupid. I always interpreted it as annoyance at the "crappy" signature, and I'm quite surprised to see other people disagreeing. --Jaybor Day (Talk) 00:50, 15 October 2011 (UTC)
- If you're reading fast enough, you can say something aloud before you've completely internalized it, so I don't think the fact that Strong Bad sighed after the closing instead of before it means anything. We know Strong Bad openly dislikes "crapfully" closings. We can only speculate why he would sigh so heavily at BrothaCheese's name (as Heim said, he'll mock you, but he doesn't detest you). Thus, it makes more sense to attribute the sigh to the closing. — It's dot com 00:59, 15 October 2011 (UTC)

merge?
Why shouldn't this be merged and redirected with an anchor to Strong Bad Email By Closing? It seems to me to be better to have them all in one place. — Defender1031*Talk 04:19, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
- I second that. Loafing 04:23, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
- I did a merge here. if there's consensus i'll move it to the mainspace. — Defender1031*Talk 04:47, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
- This article has a greater purpose than merely documenting the appearances of Crapfully Yours signatures: it's about the running gag they took on when Strong Bad started getting annoyed at them. The two articles thus have fundamentally different purposes (one is a comprehensive list; the other is an exposition of a gag) and shouldn't be merged. Heimstern Läufer 05:47, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

- Yeah, I say bring this to the "Email By Closing" article! MHarrington 06:30, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
Um, Why?
I don't get it. Why would somebody just make a page about some ending of a sbemail. It's more then a quote than anything else. Fingerface 00:11, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
1st:
"Crapfully yours" is an important part of Strong Bads charatcer or how the world sees him, because he had his Catchphrase "Holy Crap", and even after it's abandoning, he can't get rid of it although most of the viewers/writers of emails cant fully get the point why "Crapfully yours" is even written.
2nd:
Its funny, or isnt it?
That is at least my opinion. Hello? Der Schummler? 21:36, 13 March 2010 (UTC)
