Frivolous Spending

I bet this page could be modified & expanded to include all instances of Homestar Runner wasting his money. I'm far too lazy to count them all right now, but examples that stick in my head are buying four ("three for $300") wireless extension cords in technology, and his tax return from Arcade Game. After all, what's funny about the running gag (to me, anyway) is not the catch phrase, but the insane ways in which he drops cash. -- Mayosolo 02:45, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

Write a brief article, research some more and maybe we'll marge the two together. Go for it. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 08:48, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

This article has got to go. Darth Katana X (discussionitem_icon.gif user.gif mail_icon.gif)

It's a major stretch just to write an article on it. Homestar barely talks about his money and it's just littering the wiki. Let's do some spring cleaning. Darth Katana X (discussionitem_icon.gif user.gif mail_icon.gif)

Keep. It's a bona fide inside joke / running gag. It happened 3 times over the course of 6 months, from Nov 2003 to May 2004. I guess you had to be there to appreciate it. This was actually one of the first (20) pages that I stumbled upon when I discovered the wiki, and I was delighted to see it documented. —BazookaJoe 05:20, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

Keep and maybe expand as noted above. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 10:21, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
C'mon, this was never intended to be analyzed. I wouldn't be surprised if the Chaps didn't even notice that they were using the same kind of phrase for Homestar multiple times. It's barely even a "running gag." Darth Katana X (discussionitem_icon.gif user.gif mail_icon.gif)
Darth, none of H*R was ever meant to be analysed. That doesn't mean we can't do it. And I doubt that the repetition was unintentional: each time, the context is very similar (Homestar unwisely spending money on things). Anyway, I definitely vote keep. Heimstern Läufer 08:57, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
Sure you can, it's a free country. But why waste your time? Think outside of the box for a moment, how many readers can you benefit by writing articles like this? Wouldn't it be more effective to focus on meaningful articles than to write a bunch of small, monotonous articles? I'm aware that everyone here finds my opinion to be null and void, but please try to listen. Darth Katana X (discussionitem_icon.gif user.gif mail_icon.gif)
From this talk page only: 8 users found it beneficial to write articles like that. By creating articles like this one, people do think outside the box. Sure, everyone can write an article about Homestar Runner, but a keen eye for details is needed to spot something like this. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 08:02, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
But the thing is, nobody cares about the details. They care about interesting stuff. And no, you don't need to point out that everyone on the wiki has a different opinion than me, thus my opinion doesn't matter. I already know. Darth Katana X (discussionitem_icon.gif user.gif mail_icon.gif)
Isn't the interesting stuff actually in the details and descriptions, though? --DorianGray
Keep. It really looks like this article should be keeped because we only have one user who is against it. Thats not really a reason, but its something to keep in mind.--H*Bad 06:20, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
I care about the details. Honest. Your narrowminded viewpoint is the thing that's hurting the wiki here, not articles like this. If you don't like 'em, don't read 'em. Concentrate your efforts on improving the major articles. Ignore these. What's it to you if they exist? — Bassbone (TALK Strong Mad Has a Posse CONT) 07:43, 11 July 2006 (UTC)

I will support this page if somebody makes a page on the KOT's catchphrase doo hoo hoo.

Please note that this conversation happened about a year ago. There is no current debate; this page is kept. --DorianGray 05:06, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
In addition, saying something like "I'll only support this page if you make this other page" is an invalid argument. — Defender1031*Talk 05:09, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

Just wondering...

  • How did this format correctly? it has a / in the title which would make it the subpage of best, wouldn't it? Jedibob5 02:40, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
