Ding! A Decemberween Pageant is a featured article, which means it showcases an important part of the Homestar Runner body of work and/or highlights the fine work of this wiki. We also might just think it's cool. If you see a way this page can be updated or improved without compromising previous work, feel free to contribute.

Deux ex wrongina

Okay, I accidently hit "Enter" while trying to hit "Backspace" in the Summary line. I removed this fact:

The scene wherein Homestar is flown half-way out could well reference the style of the old religious plays. The God-figure was often flown in or out of the scene by way of a winch and sturdy rope, both of which were generally visible to the audience anyway. This sudden appearance, used as a means of reaching the end or moral of the play, is one of the accepted roots of the term "Deus ex machina," which in this case is taken literally.

Because it's not true - the term "Deus ex machina" dates back to Greek plays and has nothing to do with anyone being carried out of the scene by a rope - even if that happens, that's not a Deus ex machina in and of itself. Just a heads up. --Jay 21:11, 15 Apr 2005 (UTC)

No, Deus ex machina refers to both the concept of a sudden change at the end and the machince which would lower a god-character onto the stage in Greek theater. I'm not sure that Homestar flying off the stage is a reference to that though. Dripping yellow madness 22:27, 23 December 2005 (UTC)

Plays

Who thinks that plays should have their own individual category? You could put in this one, Dreamaway Johnny, and Sbemail. And maybe Dangeresque: Put 'em On Ice, too. If this is a terrible idea, do tell. If it's a not totally bad idea, do tell. --VolatileChemical 03:56, 1 May 2005 (UTC)

I think it's a good idea, if you do the work. Dripping yellow madness 22:28, 23 December 2005 (UTC)

Dorothy?

I'm watching The Wizard of Oz right now, and I'm pretty sure that the Scarecrow tells the Tin Man not to cry, when they're in the poppies. I'll get back to y'all when I'm finished watchin' it all, though. The Benedicio is all up ons.---Robert Benedicio 01:29, 13 November 2005 (UTC)

The King of Town's Dialouge

I'm pretty sure the King of Town says "I gained weight to-" not "I can't wait to-". Anyone else agree? - BlackWidower 23:02, 18 February 2006 (UTC)

Yes. I can hear it either way, actually, but I tend to go with "gained weight" because it makes comic sense. Since no one has voiced any dissent, I'll make the change and see what happens. --TheNicestGuy 18:41, 21 March 2006 (UTC)

moon computer....

i was just listening to the qotw and i realized that the moon also keeps our planet on its axes, in addition to doing its taxes. im quite sure that is not worthy of the front page tho.... csours 05:01, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

Crown'D

I'm pretty sure that the Burger King crown wasn't just in the UK. I live in the US and I had one when I was a kid. Come to think of it, it might still be in the basement somewhere. Anyway, if I don't get any negative reaction soon (and assuming I don't forget) I'm adjusting the article to be more general. - Point7Q 17:48, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

Coack Z's Handwriting?

Has anyone else noticed that the font on Coach Z's clipboard is Strong Bad's handwriting, even though it's a "note to self?"

Goof? Remark?

What about his handwriting? User talk:Sam the Man Sam the Man 17:12, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

Director

Should we bother mentioning that even though Coach Z is billed as the director in the program, he seems to be performing the duties of the stage manager in the toon? Dementedc 23:35, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

You are right. A director works pre and post prodution. But a stage manager work in the show. Put it in. The-homsarrunner Dec 24 2007

Strong Sad's Line?

Did Strong Sad actually have to say,"what" or was he just surprised? Coach B| PRANK CALL!|16:22, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

Given the nature of the pageant, it's really hard to tell. I've wondered myself. --DorianGray 20:04, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

Stage manager Z?

Even though Coach Z is billed in the program as the director, he seems to be carrying out the duties of a stage manager during the performance.

Farve/Favre

Coach Z was trying to say, "Don't go too far Bubs, you're on again in 5," but what he said was farve. I saw an anonymous edit get reverted a few minutes ago trying to change it to favre. Is this a reference to Brett Favre, whose last name is pronounced "Farve"? I've debated changing this myself several times before. He started his career in Atlanta, so tbc very likely know about him. The idea of the edit was that "Favre" is pronounced "Farve" and therefore it should be spelled "Favre". I'm neutral right now as to what it should say in the transcript. Seaching.....?

Ok, before an edit war happens, as opposed to this, I do hear another syllable between "Searching" and "looking." more like a 'n, but I definitely something StrongAwesome 01:16, 24 December 2009 (UTC)

I hear what you're talking about, but it's actually just the end of the preceding word. — Defender1031*Talk 01:17, 24 December 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, he does say "searchin", which is what I think that you think I am hearing, but i hear something else after it. But we won't get anywhere just between each other, so maybe someone else has another opinion. StrongAwesome 01:24, 24 December 2009 (UTC)
not sure which way this one should go. if DeFender is right, it definitely isn't as clear as he made it out to be in that edit summary. i'm pretty sure i hear the extra "'n" in between the two words though, and i would put it back in if i was any more sure.
