No change. It's talking about pronounciation of the "er" sound, so it doesn't matter if you spell it "er", "ir", "ur", or whatever. It all sounds the same, and the article is about the sound. --DorianGray 23:03, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

Like Loafing said, "Toikey TV" is an instance of spelling the "er" sound as "oi", yet the letters "er" do not appear in the word "turkey". Also, "first" doesn't have the "er" sound at all. Bad Bad Guy 17:59, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

Bad Bad Guy, why do you say that "first" doesn't have an "er" sound? And as far as renaming goes, I'd say that "Er" as "Oi" might be something to consider, but I really think that we can just leave the name the same and include this as a "by the way, there's also a spelled instance of this running gag". (One other thing I'd like to point out is that Dictionary.com's pronunciation key spells the sound as "ur" rather than "er", so maybe we ought to make that small change to match..?)
