Strong Bad's Rectangular Mouth

Like many of the Homestar Runner characters, Strong Bad is not drawn with a conventional mouth. Instead, Strong Bad's mouth is a flesh-colored rectangle typically curved into a frown, visibly lacking teeth, a tongue, or a throat. This aspect of his character design, often descriped with the portmanteau "fleshtangle" gets referred to and poked fun at quite a bit.
Appearances
- Email record book — Strong Bad takes offense to The Cheat suggesting he could win the record for having the most rectangular mouth. In the commentary, Strong Bad calls it his "fleshtangle".
- Email pop-up — Strong Bad calls the mouth of his pop-up book self "his fleshtangle".
- Baddest of the Bands — When Bubs suggests to Strong Bad that he should lie through his teeth to get someone to work security, Strong Bad asks if lying through his rectangular mouth would work instead.
- @strongbadactual Instagram post (8 Aug 2016) — The photo showing off the new Strong Bad puppet is captioned with "RIP fleshtangle mouth".
- I Killed Pom Pom — Homestar Runner declares to Strong Bad, "I will literally do whatever comes out of that sweet rectangular mouth next."
- Teespring — The face mask designed to look like Strong Bad's chin is named "Strong Bad's Fleshtangle Mouth Face Mask" and the description refers to it as "that weird rectangular mouth".
- Dangeresque: The Roomisode Triungulate Trailer — The announcer describes the game as "three bite-sized Roomisodes that all add up to one rectangular-sized mouthhole" at which point the trailer ominously zooms in on Dangeresque's mouth.
