ANNOUNCER: {voiceover, reading the words on screen} The following is an extremely well paid for commercial advertisement {pronounced ad-VER-tis-ment} and NOT a really funny cartoon.

STRONG BAD: {singing} Checkin' emails for money... is not funny.

{says "to" after "need" and reads "brst" as written, and "Mighty" as "moron"}

STRONG BAD: {typing} A 3D video game? What you mean like this?

{Strong Bad types strongbad3Dtotal.wad. The game appears on the Lappy's screen: a low-polygon 3D version of Strong Bad stands in a room with grey walls, one brown door with a window, a green and white chequered floor with a purple puddle, and containing one bed. Music from Strong Bad's Rhino Feeder plays.}

STRONG BAD CHARACTER: {in a poorly-synthesized voice, as a speech bubble appears} Holy crap.

{A similarly low-polygon version of Homestar Runner walks in from the right. The game is closed and the Lappy's screen shows the email again.}

STRONG BAD: Or did you mean like THIS?!? {Strong Bad gets up and turns towards the viewer, moving off screen to the left.} Gimme that camera!

{Strong Bad starts to move the camera around the room, which is rendered in full 3D.}

STRONG BAD: Ah! {music starts; Strong Bad turns left to face Strong Sad, who is in his bedroom directly across the hall} Ooh, look at that voluptuous belly!

{Strong Sad pats his belly. Strong Bad pans right, facing the stairs, where portraits of Strong Mad, Strong Sad, Strong Bad and The Cheat are hung, as he imitates a car engine.}

STRONG BAD: {walking down the stairs} Down the stairs! Doof-doof-doof-doof.

{Strong Bad imitates a car engine again, turning right to face Strong Mad, who is standing near the front door by a table with two Neighborhood Style pizzas from The Pizz, with a third on the floor. He moves the camera over to the pizzas.}

STRONG BAD: Ooh! Pizza.

STRONG MAD: THAT'S THREE WEEKS OLD!

{Strong Bad pans right to Coach Z, who is standing next to the kitchen area, while still making car sounds.}

COACH Z: Hey, watch where you're pointin' that 3D!

{Strong Bad moves past a couch on his left, and the window and wooden horse and hush puppy signs on the right.}

STRONG BAD: ...3D ...

{He walks through the door; Strong Bad's room can be seen directly opposite, across the hall. He turns right, then left down another flight of stairs.}

STRONG BAD: Witness my amazing videogame styles, in all three of the glorious Ds! {at the base of the stairs, he turns left, to see The Cheat sitting on one of two washing machines, below the No Loafing sign} Hi, The Cheat.

THE CHEAT: {The Cheat noises}

STRONG BAD: Depth, {turns into the basement, facing the Trogdor machine, then pans left to the couch} dimension, and—

{The music scratches to a stop as Homestar Runner appears from below.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: Hey, Strong Bad. I've got a low polygon count. {smiles}

STRONG BAD: —dumb idiots.

{Cut to a blue screen with a crude representation of the Telltale Games logo.}

STRONG BAD: {voiceover} From the people who made that game "Rabbitdog and Bunnyman", {crude drawings of Sam and Max appear, respectively} and the geniuses responsible {the Videlectrix logo replaces the others, appearing with yellow stars} for "Trogdor: Let's Burninate Phonics"—

{An example of Trogdor: Let's Burninate Phonics appears, featuring Trogdor burninating a schwa while two green-suited archers look on from the corners of the screen. "SCHWA!!!" flashes as the symbol turns to dust.}

STRONG BAD: —comes a 3D point-and-click-'em-up adventure {a Wiimote spins onto the screen, spinning out to a Powered by The Cheat drawing of a Nintendo Wii on a wooden table} that will quite literally leave your Wii console {the Wiimote falls to the left of the Wii} a smoldering crater.

{The Wii explodes in a mushroom cloud, leaving a smoldering crater; the Wiimote is knocked into the air, then falls down again. Red scrawled text appears on top of the scene: * GAMe WiLL NOT LiTeRALLY LeAVe YOUR Wii—unreadable—ter.}

NARRATOR: {voiceover} Game will not literally leave your Wii console a smoldering crater.

{Red curtains close, then open again to reveal a pale blue background, which the Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People logo flies into from the top. Music plays.}

STRONG BAD: {voiceover} Presenting Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People!

{Cut to Strong Bad in the classroom, which is no longer in 3D.}

STRONG BAD: Or if you want to get in on the ground floor of the cool abbreviations: SBCG4AP! {letters appear as he says them, then the abbreviation acquires orange-yellow drop shadows}

{Return to the blue screen with the logo, now with the caption "coming soon".}

STRONG BAD: Coming soon to a WiiWare near me-ware. Er— you-ware.

{Music stops, and the scene fades out, then back in to the back of Bubs' Concession Stand, where Strong Bad stands in the middle of Bubs, Strong Mad, Coach Z, The Cheat and Pom Pom.}

STRONG BAD: Oh yeah man, the Super FX chip, that red thing you stuck in the N64, Mode 7 — and they even had to invent Mode 8 just for this game!

BUBS: You seen any graphics yet?

STRONG BAD: Not yet, but I sent them this concept art, {holds up a piece of paper with a drawing of himself holding a big knife, standing next to The Cheat} and I'm pretty sure they're going to stick close to my vision.

{Close-up on the drawing, accompanied by heavy-metal chords. It features a heavily-built Strong Bad with robot legs, webbing between his torso and arms, wearing spiky armor on his left arm and wielding a big knife in his right hand. A spark runs between the extended tips of his mask. He has a vicious-looking, slender The Cheat on a chain-link leash with a studded collar. "learn more at telltalegames.com" appears at the bottom, alongside the "back" link.}

Fun Facts

Explanations

  • Polygon count is the number of polygons being used for a 3D model. Low polygon count allows for fast rendering but reduces detail. As the viewer can see, Homestar's mouth does not appear to be moving in great detail.

Trivia

  • This cartoon appears to be in 24 frames per second for the 3D cutscenes, instead of the usual 12. This makes the animation smoother, yet more awkward and faster than usual, which explains why the characters' mouths move so fast. The last frame rate "substitute" was in Teen Girl Squad Issue 10, when it was bumped up to 20 fps for a 3D effect.

Remarks

  • The Flash file is hosted on Telltale Game's website, as seen here.
  • The link at the end of the ad, "learn more at telltalegames.com", was inactive at first, and activated soon after the cartoon's release. Now, however, the link is not clickable at all, neither is the back button next to it. However, it is clickable in the Flash File.
  • Strong Sad's room is now to the left of Strong Bad's computer desk, rather than to the right as seen in gimmicks.
  • The TV Time Toons Menu for the toon is in its usual 12 frames per second, while it's 30 in the toon itself.
  • This cartoon was the first of two promotional videos released on the same day to advertise Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People, the other being a gameplay trailer.

Glitches

  • The cartoon will not load up properly when viewed using the Wii. Most of the scenes will show only a blank white screen and some of the texts in the entire cartoon are missing. Trogdor is missing during the Trogdor: Let's Burninate Phonics (but fire still burninates the schwa). The last scene doesn't show most of Bubs' Concession Stand, Strong Mad's Body is missing (but his face and limbs are still showing) and only Coach Z's arms show up.
