ANNOUNCER: {voiceover, reading the words on screen} The following is an extremely well paid for commercial advertisement {pronounced ad-VER-tis-ment} and NOT a really funny cartoon.

STRONG BAD: {singing} Checkin' emails for money... is not funny.

{says "to" after "need" and reads "brst" as written, and "Mighty" as "moron"}

STRONG BAD: {typing} A 3D video game? What you mean like this?

{Strong Bad types strongbad3Dtotal.wad. The game appears on the Lappy's screen: a low-polygon 3D version of Strong Bad stands in a room with grey walls, one brown door with a window, a green and white checkered floor with a purple puddle, and containing one bed. Music from Strong Bad's Rhino Feeder plays.}

STRONG BAD CHARACTER: {in a poorly-synthesized voice, as a speech bubble appears} Holy crap.

{A similarly low-polygon version of Homestar Runner walks in from the right. The game is closed and the Lappy's screen shows the email again.}

STRONG BAD: Or did you mean like THIS?!? {Strong Bad gets up and turns towards the viewer, moving off screen to the left.} Gimme that camera!

{Strong Bad starts to move the camera around the room, which is rendered in full 3D.}

STRONG BAD: Ah! {music starts; Strong Bad turns left to face Strong Sad, who is in his bedroom directly across the hall} Ooh, look at that voluptuous belly!

{Strong Sad pats his belly twice. Strong Bad pans right, facing the stairs, where portraits of Strong Mad, Strong Sad, Strong Bad and The Cheat are hung, as he imitates a car engine.}

STRONG BAD: {walking down the stairs} Down the stairs! Doof-doof-doof-doof.

{Strong Bad imitates a car engine again, turning right to face Strong Mad, who is standing near the front door by a table with two Neighborhood Style pizzas from The Pizz, with a third on the floor. He moves the camera over to the pizzas.}

STRONG BAD: Ooh! Pizza. {pans to Strong Mad}

STRONG MAD: IT'S THREE WEEKS OLD!

{Strong Bad pans right to Coach Z, who is standing next to the kitchen area, while still making car sounds.}

COACH Z: Hey, watch where you're pointin' that 3D!

{Strong Bad moves past a recliner on his left, and the window and wooden horse and hush puppy signs on the right.}

STRONG BAD: ...3D ...

{He walks through the door; Strong Bad's room can be seen directly opposite, across the hall. He turns right, then left down another flight of stairs.}

STRONG BAD: Witness my amazing videogame styles, in all three of the glorious Ds! {at the base of the stairs, he turns left, to see The Cheat standing on a washing machine to the right of a dryer, below the No Loafing sign} Hi, The Cheat.

THE CHEAT: Meh.

STRONG BAD: Depth, {turns into the basement, facing the Trogdor arcade game, then pans left to the couch} dimension, and—

{The music scratches to a stop as Homestar Runner appears from below.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: Hey, Strong Bad. I've got a low polygon count. {smiles}

STRONG BAD: —dumb idiots.

{Cut to a blue screen with a crude representation of the Telltale Games logo.}

STRONG BAD: {voiceover} From the people who made that game "Rabbitdog and Bunnyman", {crude drawings of Sam and Max appear, respectively} and the geniuses responsible {the Videlectrix logo replaces the others, appearing with yellow stars} for "Trogdor: Let's Burninate Phonics"—

{An example of Trogdor: Let's Burninate Phonics appears, featuring Trogdor burninating a schwa while two green-suited archers look on from the corners of the screen. "SCHWA!!!" flashes as the symbol turns to dust.}

STRONG BAD: —comes a 3D point-and-click-'em-up adventure {a Wii remote spins onto the screen, spinning out to a Powered by The Cheat drawing of a Nintendo Wii on a wooden table} that will quite literally leave your Wii console {the Wii remote falls to the left of the Wii} a smoldering crater.

{The Wii explodes in a mushroom cloud, leaving a smoldering crater; the Wii remote is knocked into the air, then falls down again. Red scrawled text appears on top of the scene: * GAMe WiLL NOT LiTeRALLY LeAVe YOUR Wii—unreadable—ter.}

NARRATOR: {voiceover} Game will not literally leave your Wii console a smoldering crater.

{Red curtains close, then open again to reveal a pale blue background, which the Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People logo flies into from the top. Music plays.}

STRONG BAD: {voiceover} Presenting Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People!

{Cut to Strong Bad in the classroom, which is no longer in 3D.}

STRONG BAD: Or if you want to get in on the ground floor of the cool abbreviations: SBCG4AP! {letters appear as he says them, then the abbreviation acquires orange-yellow drop shadows}

{Return to the blue screen with the logo, now with the caption "coming soon".}

STRONG BAD: Coming soon to a WiiWare near me-ware. Er— you-ware.

{Music stops, and the scene fades out, then back in to the back of Bubs' Concession Stand, where Strong Bad stands in the middle of Bubs, Strong Mad, Coach Z, The Cheat and Pom Pom.}

STRONG BAD: Oh yeah man, the Super FX chip, that red thing you stuck in the N64, Mode 7 — and they even had to invent Mode 8 just for this game!

{Medium shot of Bubs}

BUBS: You seen any graphics yet?

{Medium shot of Strong Bad}

STRONG BAD: Not yet, but I sent them this concept art, {holds up a piece of paper with a drawing of himself holding a big knife, standing next to The Cheat} and I'm pretty sure they're gonna stick close to my vision.

{Close-up on the drawing, accompanied by heavy-metal chords. It features a heavily-built Strong Bad with robot legs, webbing between his torso and arms, wearing spiky armor on his left arm and wielding a big knife in his right hand. A spark runs between the extended tips of his mask. He has a vicious-looking, slender The Cheat on a chain-link leash with a studded collar. "learn more at telltalegames.com" appears at the bottom, alongside the "back" link.}

Fun Facts

Explanations

  • Polygon count is the number of polygons being used for a 3D model. Low polygon count allows for fast rendering but reduces detail.

Trivia

  • This cartoon plays at a rate of 24 frames per second for the 3D cutscenes, instead of the usual 12. This makes the animation smoother, and frames change faster than usual, explaining why the characters' mouths move so fast. The last frame rate "substitute" was in Teen Girl Squad Issue 10, when it was bumped up to 20 fps for a 3D effect.
  • This short was added to the Wii Nintendo Channel on August 11, 2008 (the same day Homestar Ruiner was made available) under the title "Strong Bad Info Video 2".
    • An additional still at the end bears the SBCG4AP "field" title card with "play it on WiiWare" written underneath it.

Remarks

  • This toon no longer works due to the fact that the Flash file was hosted on the Telltale Games website, and was removed in October 2015.
  • The link at the end of the ad, "learn more at telltalegames.com", was inactive at first, but was activated soon after the cartoon's release.
  • Even though the toon and its preview are animated at 24 frames per second, the TV Time Toons Menu is 12 frames per second, which causes the preview to play at half speed.
    • Similarly, clicking on the Lappy's screen during the toon will make its usual ripple effect move at double speed.
  • This cartoon was the first of two promotional videos released on the same day to advertise Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People, the other being a gameplay trailer.
  • In HomestarRunner.com PAY PLUS! and Sbemail 150?!?, the computer room was one floor up from the couch. However, Strong Bad descends two sets of stairs to get to the couch, making it two stories down.
  • Bubs' arms are rendered in an old bent style.
  • The only other time Strong Bad handles the "camera" through which the viewer watches is in video games.
  • In the end, the sheet of lined paper that fills the screen appears to exceed the width of standard lined paper.
  • Strong Bad says he has not seen any graphics from the game, but was seen playing it in Strong Bad Gameways.

Goofs

  • The back button is clickable, but does not lead anywhere.

Inside References

  • An application ending in .wad was used in the email secret identity.
  • In the drawing at the end, Strong Bad is holding a Big Knife.
  • The first 3D game Strong Bad pops up is similar to that of Extra Real Dating Sim XR, which first appeared in date.
  • Advertisements being pronounced as "ad-VER-tis-ments" first appeared in Marzipan's Answering Machine Version 15.2.
  • Temporarios and Suge Brown boxes appear on the counter in the kitchen.
  • The "The Cheat, watch your freakin' back, Squeaky." picture and the wood burning of a horse from no loafing are on the wall in the living room.
  • The "Born to Be Danged!!!" Unicorn on a snowmobile poster from portrait is hanging up in Strong Bad's room.
  • The Strong Bad character says "Holy crap!", which was previously referenced in rated, for Strong Bad not saying it for over 4 years.
  • Strong Bad pronounces "Bunnyman" as "Bunnym'n".
  • The schwa sound (Trogdor's burninating sound effect) was previously referenced in from work.
  • The "GAMe WiLL NOT LiTeRALLY" message contains lowercase i's.
  • Strong Mad stands by pizza boxes from The Pizz.
  • Strong Bad refers to his amazing videogame styles.
  • The Wii explodes.
  • The music that plays during the 3D segment is an arrangement of the music from action figure.
