In the Homestar Runner body of work, there have been times characters have been sent to prison or have referenced it.

  • Email stupid stuff — An Easter egg at the end of the email consists of The Cheatcakes' jingle, which is: "Only liars and thieves eat Grumblecakes, and those people go to prison. Just ask The Cheat!"
  • Strong Bad is in Jail Cartoon — Strong Bad and The Cheat are thrown in jail for trying to rob Bubs' Concession Stand and are thrown in jail again following a jailbreak and subsequent crime spree.

    • After Strong Bad is placed under house arrest by The King of Town, Strong Bad says he's a political prisoner to the protestors outside his house.
    • Strong Bad asks the protestors for help getting past the electric fence blocking his freedom. Homestar says that would be illegal and Coach Z exclaims that he can't go back to the joint again.
    • When checking his Computer Room calendar, Strong Bad makes a note to remember his wrongful imprisonment.
    • When Strong Bad talks to Strong Sad for the first time, Strong Sad hoped Strong Bad would have been sent to prison so that Strong Sad could get some peace to finish a model of the Kon-Tiki.
