{The toon begins at the King of Town's castle, where a Halloween party is taking place.}

STRONG BAD: Ohh man, you guys! I can't believe we actually came to the King of Town's crappy Halloween party!

THE KING OF TOWN: You boys having a good time? Try the ketchup fountain yet?

STRONG BAD: This party sucks, old man! This is Halloween! Where's the decaying flesh? The rotting corpses? The stink of death!

{The Poopsmith comes into the frame holding a rotting skull made of whatsit on his shovel.}

STRONG BAD: Uhh... not exactly what I was talking about.

THE KING OF TOWN: Well, fine! If stinky dead people is all you want, why don't you go hang out in that 200-acre cemetery that's been behind my castle all this time?

{The camera zooms out of the window, revealing the cemetery.}

STRONG BAD: Uh-jig-ga-ma-WHAT?

{Title appears: "Most in the Graveyard", "the credits for the 9th Homestar Halloween Cartoon..." "...are the same as the first 8!"}

{Cut to the Cemetery entrance. Everyone is there, with Strong Bad and The Cheat shown to be the last to arrive.}

STRONG BAD: We have a cemetery? This is awesome! How come nobody ever told me about this place?

STRONG SAD: You didn't know about this place? Man, if it weren't for the library, I'd spend—

STRONG BAD: We have a who cares?

STRONG SAD: {excited} Yeah! It still uses Dewey Decimal and everything! {suddenly realises Strong Bad's statement} Aww... I hate it when you do that.

STRONG BAD: Ah ha ha! C'mon guys, let's go find a suitable stiff to exhume and reanimate.

{Everyone starts walking into the cemetery grounds.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: Oh man, Pom Pom. This is gonna be so great. First we'll hit Space Mountain, then over to Mr. Toad's, then Tom Sawyer's Island, {Pom Pom looks annoyed} and don't forget: we parked in the Goofy lot!

{Cut back to the entrance. The King of Town and the Poopsmith remain.}

THE KING OF TOWN: You think I should have told them about that carnivorous undead sheep that prowls the graveyard?

{As the King of Town speaks, a view of a hill within the graveyard is shown, with a sheep shadow bleating loudly at the top of it. Cut to Strong Sad and Marzipan.}

STRONG SAD: All right now Marzipan, remember: we have to hold our breath in front of the dead. Ready? Go! {tries to hold his breath, but immediately exhales and starts gasping} Okay, nevermind! Sorry, the dead!

MARZIPAN: This place is perfect for my Intro to Photography class. {lowers her guitar and pulls out a camera from Hammerspace) I've already hit the railroad tracks, and an abandoned factory. This will complete the amateur trifecta!

STRONG SAD: Hang on, I think I got it! {tries to hold his breath again, and again immediately fails}

{Cut to Bubs and Coach Z, standing in front of a bunch of graves.}

BUBS: Hey, look! There's my great-great-grandpappy's cousin Harold! He discovered the "Bait and Switch!" Ooh, and this is his brother Mort! He invented "No Money Down".

COACH Z: All your dead relatives are making wanna start one of them horror-core rap groups. I could pull on a hockey mask and call myself "Coach Zgor Mortizzz!" {a CD case pops up reading "THE GRAVEYARDIGANZ — Featuring COACH ZGOR MORTIZZZ" with three Coach Z heads wearing hockey masks pictured}

BUBS: Hey, man! Show some respect! {points to a third tombstone reading "ZGOR — another relative of Bubs"}

{Cut to Homestar and Pom Pom.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: Okay, Pom Pom, now that I know that we're not in a theme park, I say we try to find that Green Gobalin. I heard that if you find him right at midnight, he'll spin all your Halloween candies into gold! Instead of just doing that regular old two-bit dance. {imitates the Green Goblin's dance}

POM POM: {bubbles while pointing to a nearby landmark}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: Hey, that's a great place to start looking! I wonder why they call it "Snarling Hungry Sheep Hill".

{Both Homestar and Pom Pom walk up the hill, with a wooden sign labelled "Snarling Hungry Sheep Hill" being shown as Homestar mentions it. Cut to Strong Bad, Strong Mad and the Cheat, all near more graves.}

STRONG BAD: I mean, look at some of these names! Jim-Nealius Hog-chigger? Hebby Screbby? Is there some secret period in history when hobos ruled the Earth that I'm unaware of?

STRONG MAD: {jumps up in frustration} YOU SAID WE'D GET A ZOMBIE SLAVE!

STRONG BAD: Don't worry, Thwomp Mad. We will. We just gotta find somebody with a cool name. Let's keep looking.

{Cut back to Strong Sad and Marzipan.}

MARZIPAN: {taking a picture of Strong Sad posing by a gravestone} Almost... a little less lurk, and a little more skulk.

STRONG SAD: Like...this? {hunches forward more}

MARZIPAN: There we go. {She photographs him. The Polaroid develops, but Strong Sad is missing from the picture.} You're not showing up in these pictures. {she pulls up several other photographs where Strong Sad is absent} Strong Sad, is there something you need to tell me? Are you dead?

STRONG SAD: {jubilantly} Whoa, maybe I am! I finally willed myself to death! This is great!

{Cut to Coach Z standing near a grave.}

COACH Z: Hey Bubs! Check it out! You're not the only one with relatives here. My great good-aunt is buried right under our feet!

{Cut to Bubs near a grave.}

BUBS: Naw, you come over here and look at this! I want you to see my great-great granduncle. He invented "No Payments till 2010!"

COACH Z: {pats Bubs on his right shoulder} Hi there.

{Bubs looks to the left. Apparently he and Coach Z were referring to the same grave.}

BUBS: Wait! Hold on a sec'! Are you telling me my uncle is your aunt?

COACH Z: Seems that way! Bubs! This is great news! This means we're brothers! I always knew it!

BUBS: Or it means you're a liar! Besides, even if it were true, we'd only be sixth-fourth-second-fifth cousins, thrice removed!

COACH Z: Oh, phew. So your sister and I can— {Bubs punches him, he screams and is knocked to the ground}

{Cut to a tombstone reading "Here Lies Plutis"}

STRONG BAD: {offscreen} "Plutis?!" What is wrong with you dead people?! I don't want a reanimated corpse named Plutis doing my bidding! Doesn't any dead body with a good name around here want to be reanimated with these jumper cables and pickled monkey fingers?

STRONG MAD: ZGOR! I VOTE ZGOR!

{Cut back to Homestar and Pom Pom, both hiding behind a larger gravestone.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: All right, Pom Pom. It's almost midnight. Ready with the Halloween candy?

{Pom Pom gets out the candy. The viewpoint then cuts to the inside of a bush, focusing on Homestar and Pom Pom from a distance. Breathing can be heard distinctively.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: Man, I can't wait to try out gold whatchamacallits. Gold...oh yes, Snickers.

{The monster is revealed to be the Carnivorous Undead Sheep; it jumps out of the bush into viewpoint of Homestar and Pom Pom and bleats loudly.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: AHH!! The Cheat's got rabies again!

{Pom Pom pulls out a handgun.}

{Cut to Bubs and Coach Z, the latter being held up by his collar.}

COACH Z: What was that?

{Cut to Strong Sad and Marzipan. Strong Sad is still seen holding his breath.}

MARZIPAN: Oh my goodness!

{Cut to Strong Bad, Strong Mad and The Cheat.}

STRONG BAD: {turning to look at The Cheat, surprised} The Cheat, you got rabies again?

{Cut back to the entrance. The King of Town and the Poopsmith haven't moved.}

THE KING OF TOWN: Uh oh. Let's beat it, Poopsmith!

{The Poopsmith nods and they both leave the graveyard. Cut back to Homestar, Pom Pom and the sheep.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: Yahoo, seriously, Pom Pom! I'm about to pee my pants!

{The Goblin jumps out and lands on top of the Carnivorous Undead Sheep, popping its head off}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: The Gobalin! You saved us! Now are you going to turn all of our 100 Grands into a hundred grand?

{The Goblin shakes his head.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: But I thought at midnight you—

{The Goblin does his dance}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: {disappointed} Oh, man!

{The music becomes a techno-remix of the Goblin Dance music. Disco lights show up during the dance.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: Hooray! Extended dance remix of the Gobalin song!

{Homestar moves away from the grave and dances with the Goblin. From nearby, Pom Pom pulls out two handguns, and Strong Bad finds the sheep's body.}

STRONG BAD: Whoa, check out that awesome dead undead sheep!

{The King of Town appears nearby.}

THE KING OF TOWN: Some say it's an escaped laboratory test animal. They call it "Subject X".

STRONG BAD: That's the coolest name I ever heard of! The Cheat! Grab the jumper cables and— hey! Where'd the pickled monkey fingers go?

THE KING OF TOWN: {in the distance, running away from the graveyard} I don't knoooooow!

POM POM: {bubbles}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: You said it, old buddy! Happy Carousel of Progress, Pom Pom. {Pom Pom looks annoyed again} I mean, Halloween, Pom Pom.

{Fade to one of Marzipan's attempted photos of Strong Sad, with the caption: 'In loving memory of Strong Sad "willed himself to death 10/31/2008". The photograph moves with the final trumpet riffs. Cut to the standard ending scene of the various characters wearing their costumes.}

Fun Facts

Explanation

  • Coach Z referring to himself as "Coach Zgor Mortizzz" is a reference to Rigor Mortis.

Trivia

  • The sign at the front of the cemetery reads "Always Been Here Acres".
  • Pom Pom and The Cheat's costumes may be a nod to the comic's artist, Rob Schrab, who made a downloadable guest wallpaper for Trogdor's 5th Birthday
  • The loading screen says "He was a real load."

Remarks

  • Homsar and the Carnivorous Undead Sheep are drawn with black outlines, instead of the thick, colored outline style of everything else in the Homestar Runner Universe.
  • Bubs' arms are rendered in an old, bent style.
  • The King of Town wears the Hello Kitty bow near the opposite ear from where it is traditionally placed.

Glitches

  • At the end of the toon (if you clicked The Poopsmith to activate the Homsar egg), if you click on Strong Bad, Homestar, Marzipan, Bubs, The Poopsmith, Coach Z, Strong Sad, or the King of Town, Homsar still shows his scroll-over information while another character comments on their costume. This is because he is a movie clip that overlays the scene.

Fixed Goofs

  • When you clicked on Strong Bad at the end, his lips didn't move when he says, "Uh, I don't know."
  • The bubble containing Homsar's description appeared on top of Bubs' body but under his head.
  • At the end of the toon, one of Homsar's legs was his normal one and the other was his costume foot (Captain Caveman's).

Inside References

  • The page title has an instance of 'd.
  • This is another reference to Strong Sad's Death.
  • Homsar's lines in his Easter egg are a reference to his character video.
  • Homestar's line, "Seriously, Pom Pom, I'm about to pee my pants", is the same line he said in A Jumping Jack Contest.
  • Strong Sad smiles when he thinks he has "willed [himself] to death".
  • Homestar Runner again fails to identify the cast's costumes. This even includes himself.
  • For the first time since The House That Gave Sucky Treats, two characters (in this case, Marzipan and The King of Town) have cross-dressed for Halloween.
  • Pom Pom, in nod to his costume choice, is once again seen brandishing guns.
  • The candy that Pom Pom produces is a bag of SBLOUNSKCHED! Fun Size.
  • The King of Town running over the hills while silhouetted is a reference to Old Intro 2.
  • The music heard when the Carnivorous Undead Sheep approaches Homestar and Pom Pom is taken from Jibblies 2.
  • Homestar's message for his Halloween costume, "Yahoo Serious(ly)", refers to his catch phrase, "Seriously".
  • Mr. Toad's Wild Ride was previously referenced in vacation.

Real-World References

  • Space Mountain, Mr. Toad's, Tom Sawyer's Island, and Carousel of Progress are all attractions at Disney theme parks, specifically the Magic Kingdom and Disneyland. However, neither park currently contains all four attractions since Disneyland's Carousel of Progress closed in 1973 and Disney World's Mr. Toad closed in 1998. The Goofy lot refers to the parks' parking lots being named after Disney characters.
  • Homestar's line "he'll spin all your Halloween candy into gold" is a reference to the fairy tale Rumpelstiltskin, where the title character had the ability to spin straw into gold.
  • Coach Z's album cover featuring him wearing a hockey mask is a reference to the Friday the 13th series of horror movies. The band name "The Graveyardiganz" refers to pioneering horrorcore rap group Gravediggaz. It could also be refering to Backyardigans a music-based TV series.
  • The King of Town's line when clicking on the Poopsmith at the end refers to Futurama character Professor Farnsworth's catchphrase. Farnsworth employs Dr. Zoidberg.
  • Homestar's line when clicking on Marzipan at the end refers to "Pride and Joy", a song of Stevie Ray Vaughan's from his 1983 album Texas Flood.
  • Strong Bad's line "Is there some secret period in history when hobos ruled the Earth that I'm unaware of?" could possibly refer to John Hodgman's book "The Areas of My Expertise", which features a non-factual factual account of such an era as a major section of the book.
  • At the end, in the Strong Sad Easter egg, Strong Sad is mistaken for Ma Fratelli from The Goonies.
  • Strong Sad shouting his last line in the Strong Bad Easter egg is in the style of a typical antic of Sam Kinison's comedy act.
  • Homestar Runner argues with himself about his costume, mistakenly suggesting it to be of Carrot Top, a stand-up comedian noted for his use of props, his large orange hair, and being a former spokesperson for AT&T during their "Dial Down the Center" campaign. He then mistakenly "corrects" himself to actually be Crocodile Dundee, the titular character from the 1986 comedy movie. Crocodile Dundee was played by Paul Hogan who, like Yahoo Serious, is Australian.
  • Strong Sad enthusiastically asks Strong Bad, in reference to his costume, for the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything. In the The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, the computer Deep Thought is constructed to formulate this response, despite nobody knowing the precise nature of the question. After 7 1/2 million years, Deep Thought reveals the answer to be "42".
  • Coach Z's "Yooooooooooo garble garble!" is his attempt to say DJ Lance Rock's phrase "Yo Gabba Gabba!"
  • Bubs' Easter Egg lines are from the Junkyard Dog's entrance theme, "Grab Them Cakes."
  • Whatchamacallits are an actual candy bar.
