Sometimes, The Brothers Chaps use intentionally misleading Main Page messages in attempts to deceive viewers into thinking they will be getting a different type of toon than they really end up with.

Instances

  • May 2-3, 2006 — A "new toon soon" message was put up on May 2, despite the eventual update being a new Strong Bad Email. When senior prom came out the next day, the Main Page message changed to "king of town toon" in an effort to dupe viewers into thinking they would be watching a toon about The King of Town.
  • March 30, 2009 — Sbemailiarized! was released under the message "new strong bad email", but scrolling over the message changed the text to "new strong bad email?" as a hint that something was off.
  • June 29-30, 2009 — A "new toon soon" message was put up on June 29, despite the eventual update being the first new Strong Bad Email in months. hremail3184 was released under the message "new hremail!" because the opening of the email deceptively resembles that of a Hremail.
  • October 29, 2020 — Halloween Hijinx was released under the Main Page message "ween toon soon", despite being a full toon. This is to mislead viewers into believing they are just getting a teaser video.
