Regardless, he appears to be a very social creature, often showing up at parties or dialing up other characters on the phone, and he seems to always be aware of his context on some level (though his "grasp on the world around him" appears to be looser than Homestar's loosest).  Most of the time, he seems to forget (or not know) the names of those around him and assigns them random nicknames instead.  He also seems to be best friends with [[Strong Sad]], but Homestar seems to hate him, as he consistently disrespects him when the two appear together in various Halloween toons. Nothing is known about his past, other than his claim that he was raised by a cup of coffee (which may not be altogether reliable). Physically, Homsar seems to be able to defy gravity at will, among his usual illogic.

Biography

Homsar is nonsense incarnate. He was created in the second Strong Bad Email when Vinnie C. misspelled "Homestar" and suggested that Strong Bad kill him. Strong Bad "killed" Homsar by dropping a large weight on him, but The Brothers Chaps must have ended up liking the little guy and upgraded his condition from dead to seriously injured. Upon his recovery, he called Marzipan in Marzipan's Answering Machine Version 5, thanking her for the flowers she had sent to him in the hospital.

He resides primarily in easter eggs (e.g., Homsar Main Page, his character tape, Downloads easter egg, etc.), but sometimes he'll appear in a regular toon or Strong Bad Email. He is often quoted by Homestar Runner fans, as his few appearances are often accompanied by cute and amusing little sayings. Though his sentences are gramatically correct in every sense, the things he says are rarely useful or meaningful to anybody (except himself, presumably), making him notoriously difficult to converse with. Strong Bad claims to not be able to talk to the guy for more than three seconds before he considers gnawing his own leg off in interview.

He also seems to be best friends with Strong Sad, but Homestar seems to hate him, as he consistently disrespects him when the two appear together in various Halloween toons. During the holidays, Homsar sets up a Salvation Army style bucket, labels it Baked Beans, and waves a paintbrush that gongs like a bell at passerbys as evidenced in Homestar Presents: Presents. Homsar serves in the Homestarmy and is the host of his own children's show: Whaddaya Know, Haddi-Man?. Nothing is known about his past, other than his claim that he was raised by a cup of coffee (which may not be altogether reliable). Physically, Homsar seems to be able to defy gravity at will, among his usual illogic.

Homsar also competed in the Strong Sad Look-Alike Contest, and was a surefire win. Unfortunately, due to the fact that his costume was 100% accurate, he was mistaken for the real Strong Sad, and did not win.

Character Video Transcript

{Page Title: The Hand-Me-Down Clown!} {Places: The Field}

{The background is upside-down throughout the video, with the blue sky on the bottom of the screen and the green grass at the top.}

HOMSAR: AaAaAaAaAaAaA! Hi, Wonder Mike! I'm Homsar! The captain of the gravy train. {bowler hat pops up and turns into a train conductor's hat} Climb aboard! {hat returns to normal} I've brought my best foot flowered... Pshoooo! (Homsar's hat slides down the back of his head, then snaps back once the "Pshoooo!" sound is over) Sure beats breaking up with me. Don't look now! I'm just a friendly reminder. AaAaAaAaAaAaA! AaAaAaAaAaAaA! {spins around the screen backwards and ends up at the top, upside down} Think I won the Powerball.

Homsar's Bowler Derby

A headgear anomaly

His hat moves around all on its own every time Homsar speaks, but it always returns to its resting place on his head shortly thereafter, even if Homsar is standing upside-down (except in different town, as Modestly Hot Homsar, and origins). It has also been known to change shape (in his character video) and appear from nowhere (in impression). When Homsar was first created, the hat was much larger and didn't fly as much.

Fun Facts

  • "Wonder Mike" is a member of The Sugarhill Gang, famous for the song "Rapper's Delight." In the beginning of "Rapper's Delight", Wonder Mike says "I am Wonder Mike and I like to say hello", so Homsar saying "Hi, Wonder Mike" could possibly be a response.
  • "Think I won the Powerball" is a reference to the multistate Powerball Lottery, which is known for having large jackpots.
  • Homsar's character page is the only one with background music.
  • Homsar's nonsensical dialogue is nonetheless grammatically correct. This is a trait most commonly found in schizophrenia and is referred to as "word salads."
  • Although at the end of his character video he is standing from the top of the screen, he is actually standing right-side up, since the ground is on the top of the screen.
    • This presumably means that at the beginning of his video, Homsar is upside-down, because of the upside-down tree landscape.
  • Mr. Shmallow and Nibbles make the same walking noise as Homsar.
