Help me! I tried adding a link to my image and it doesn't works! Darkangel Get offa me!

A link via an image can only be accomplished by linking with an absolute URL, as demonstrated at this anchor. — Lapper (talk) 05:08, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

More Customization Explanations?

Should we include how to make your signature different for different namespaces? My curiousity about how to do this led me to dismantling The Mü's sig (but of course not saving it). --Mario2.PNG Super Martyo boing! 23:22, 23 May 2007 (UTC)

The technique The Mu used is a ParserFunction, as explained there. What one wishes to do to one's signature beyond that of normal curiosity is one's own business, and we simply don't need to include every possible customization. — Lapper (talk) 23:25, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
Possibly, but I think that the instructions for creating a sig need to be broken up into two sections: a simple couple steps to get it ready for use, and then another section for more advanced modifications (under which your suggestion would fall). I intend to work on this soon; after that, it may be easier for you to work in your idea... Trey56 23:28, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
Okay, I tried to make it simpler to find the basic information for new users. Now, the advanced customization stuff is all at the bottom, so more info can be added there without disrupting the flow of the page. Trey56 03:00, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
Looks good, Trey. Now we decide if we really need more stuff to go on there. I think we could get some examples of how a certain customization would look as well (i.e. for color we could have a fake sig with custom colorings on it). --Mario2.PNG Super Martyo boing! 03:06, 24 May 2007 (UTC)

Span tag

Something is wrong with the span tag. I think I bwoke it. Only font-size still works; the interpreter ignores all other style attributes.· · T2|Things 00:01, 26 May 2007 (UTC)

Is this what you're trying to do? If not, what are you trying to change? Trey56 00:05, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
· · T 2(Things)
I'm not sure you've seen the font Castellar, but it looks nothing like Arial (or whatever the wiki uses). In my confusion, I listed the color as #339; I intended to list #900, which also produces no result. #900 is a dark red, though it still shows up as blue. I've done span tags nearly identical to this one about 4 or 5 times today (validation work); they've all been successful on the first try.· · T2|Things 00:11, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
As far as the color goes, you need to put the span stuff inside the link, like I did above (I also updated the color to #900). As far as the font goes, you're probably better off using a different one; I would guess that most people don't have that font on their computers. Trey56 00:16, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
It's preinstalled. At least it was preinstalled on my computer.· · T2|Things 00:20, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
Okay — not on mine, though. At any rate, your sig looks fine now. Trey56 00:21, 26 May 2007 (UTC)

Uploads

how do u upload a pic for sigs?--Orange Star

Hi there, Orange Star, and welcome to the wiki! Ultimately, you can use Special:Upload to upload an image for your signature, but since you just created an account, you will have to wait about a day or so before your ability to upload images has been activated. Hope that helps, and let me know if you have any questions! Trey56 20:47, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
I guess it oqwuld have helped not to delete the helpful links on your talk page ;-) You should also check out this help page more closely. It' will tell you that the images in your signature can't be higher than 20 pixels. Loafing 20:51, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

{{imagelink}}

Now that {{imagelink}} is oked, should we change the help page to include it? The Goblin!! 19:34, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

Sigbox

This is really weird. On my screen, peoples sigs like this one look to be 7 characters over the limit. However, they claim to be only 1 over, and some claim to be smaller than the box? How is this possible, and should some standard be set to this? The Goblin!! 14:38, 15 December 2007 (UTC)

TheGoblin/Techgeek/TG: As a user well versed in the wonders of HTML and Wikicode, you should be well aware that it is very difficult to control how text and wiki formatting appears across different screens, resolutions, platforms and browsers. All of these variables will affect how the text and images look like. (It's easy to even change the default font to one with humongously large letters for those with vision problems). As it has been mentioned before in other pages (none of which I know off the top of my head) the Signature guidelines are not strict rules that can even be enforced to the letter of the law. These are primarily safeguards to prevent excessive sigs that were becoming a problem at one point (for example some were creeping to be as long as the screen, others were as TALL as this paragraph) making regular text unreadable.
So to answer your last question: no, there can be no rigorous and nitpicky standard set for this kind of thing. For example, the sig you mentioned above:
to me only fills half the sig box. Now the font family is Georgia, so it's possible that you have Georgia installed in your machine (I'd guess MacOS X) and it comes up bigger than in the majority of screens (I'm running firefox on Windows XP). Still, I think 7 characters isn't something to sweat over in this case. Just remember the purpose of these guidelines are to prevent people from rendering this wiki unreadable to the populace. --Stux 08:20, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
Oh my, my mistake. I am sorry. It does look like half for me. I mean this one. The Goblin!! 15:42, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
TG: It always helps to post the box with the sig as well:
To me, the sig is only 2 1½ characters over. Per what I wrote above, I don't see this as an issue. --Stux 17:29, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

img problem

I want this image in my sig to link to my talk page, but when I press the preview button, this is what I get:

Religious Corn {{{image}}}

And instead of linking to my talk page, the word "{{{image}}}" links to {{{link}}} instead! How do I fix this? Religious Corn   18:15, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
