Could this page be expanded to also include how to take screenshots to upload? --DorianGray

Depends on your Operating System:

• On Windows, I the "Print Screen" button will copy an image of your screen to the clipboard, which you can paste into image editing software to crop. (There is some way to take a shot of just the current window and not the whole screen, CTRL+Print Screen maybe? I cannot test this, my Windows computer is in the office).
• On a Mac, use <apple> + <shift> + 3, to save an image of the screen to your desktop. Use 4 to select an area of the screen to capture. Add <ctrl> to either of those to copy to the clipboard instead of saving a file. These are the default keybindings and can be changed in the keyboard preferences.—BryanCTC 03:26, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

I also find viewing the SWF, right-clicking, and hitting "Pause" works well too. --DorianGray

No, the Print Screen is a system function - it's completely independent of what program you're currently using. Are you pasting the copied screenshot into some image editing program? --Belthazar 21:24, 28 November 2008 (UTC)

I don't even know where the pic is going. I tried everything. CTRL+Prt Scr, Prt Scr by itself, and Shift + Prt Scr. Does Vista have a clipboard like it says at the top of this section? Strongkinghomsarsmith 21:35, 28 November 2008 (UTC)

You should really ask questions regarding the fanstuff wiki over there. This is the knowledge base. But anyway, you need to use a program like MS Paint or The Gimp to open the image and then save it as a .png image. Loafing 20:32, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

Loafing, there isn't a Help thing on thne FanStuff Wiki, it leads to this help thing. Oh, and i did use MSPaint, i think... Im a bell 23:28, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

Oh, it does. That's odd. Anyway, if you use MSPaint, then you should have no problem. When you save the image, there's a drop-down list at the bottom (called "Save as type") where you can choose between *.bmp and *.png. Loafing 23:50, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

It makes sense that all the wiki-related help stuff be redirected over here. That way work is not duplicated, since the fanstuff has to deal with similar editing problems as we do. Can you upload an image from the internet, rather than from your own computer? I'm trying to get a SBCG4AP image from telltalegames.com, but I don't know how...

[edit] It's not working...

When I try to go to the upload page, it says that the page is restricted to Autoconfirmed users, Bots, and Admins. Apparently I don't count as any of those. Can anybody help me? FugitiveofPhysics 01:52, 7 September 2009 (UTC)

Ah, yes. You cannot upload images until you are autoconfirmed, which you do not get until after 3 days. You have to wait 3 days to upload images. (Sorry, I didn't make the rule) free 01:54, 7 September 2009 (UTC)

May I suggest putting up an actual page explaining what an autoconfirmed user is and how you become one? I had no way to know until coming to this page. The McArby! 21:04, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
