Here's how to add links:
Contents |
[edit] Internal
To add a link to an internal page (in the wiki), use these link styles:
- For an article page:
This one normal page
- For a page in another namespace:
Namespace:Page name
- However, links to images and categories (without using the image on the page, or adding the page to the category) must be linked like this:
:Image:Image name
or:Category:Category name
[edit] External
To link to a common external page, like the official Homestar Runner website, use a namespace-style link with one of the special prefixes.
To link externally (outside the wiki), use one bracket pair instead of two, as well as an absolute path:To link to someone's email, use the mailto: prefix:
[mailto:joe_person@email.com]
[edit] Appearances
To change the appearance of an internal or familiar link, use the vertical line symbol:This neat pageTo change the appearance of an external link or an email link, insert a space after the link:
A neat siteIn a link with a namespace (or an interwiki link), the prefix is removable with the pipe (|) symbol:
Wikipedia:Main PageIn a link with trailing parentheses (()), the parentheses, as well as the words inside them, are removable with the pipe (|) symbol:
Homestar Runner (flash cartoon)
[edit] Link colors
- If you see a deep blue link, it means it's a link within this wiki.
- If you see a light blue link, it means it's an interwiki link.
- If you see a red link, it means it's not a real wiki page, or it's not a correctly typed link.
[edit] Link symbols
Figuring out what the symbols next to some links mean. If you don't see little icons next to the links below, then your browser might not support CSS properties for links. Go to Help:Icon to see them.
- If you see a light blue link with an arrow next to it, it means it's an external link.
- If you see a light blue link with the Homestar Runner logo next to it, it means it's a link to the Homestar Runner website.
- If you see a light blue link with the Thorax logo next to it, it means it's a link to the Thorax Corporation website.
- If you see a light blue link with a grey Homestar Runner logo next to it, it means it's a link to the old.homestarrunner.com website.
- If you see a light blue link with the YouTube logo next to it, it means it's a link to a YouTube video.
