All of the pages don't have the HRwiki logo. Like this one, for instance.

The "Edit diff." feature sounds fortuitous. I'm not sure I understood the permalink business, though. —[[User:notstrongorbad|notstrongorbad]] 06:37, 8 Oct 2005 (UTC)

:For instance, the current revision of the [[HRFWiki:Main Page|fanstuff Main Page]] is [http://fanstuff.hrwiki.org/index.php?title=Main_Page&oldid=119031 rev 119031].  With 1.4 and earlier, it is not possible to have a link that would always display what was on the page at the time that you viewed it, as the current link in 1.4 just has an [http://www.hrwiki.org/index.php?title=HRWiki_talk:Upgrade_to_MediaWiki_1.5&oldid=0 oldid of 0].  That link will always take you to the current version, which may have been updated since the time you linked to the article.  This is important when someone would want to cite an article for research and so forth.[[User:Tom|<nowiki></nowiki>]]  --  [[User:Tom|Tom]] 07:03, 8 Oct 2005 (UTC)

and the mainpage template is screwed up.

::I'm looking forward to the 'Print' tab I've heard about. I'm always up for a new tab. And the move log sounds kinda nifty. I am gonna miss that maintenance page though, *sniff*. I fondly remember searching for double redirects. Is the upgrade probably gonna be finished by Monday morning, NA time? Or are we probably gonna be late updating the Wiki for the Monday update? {{User:Thunderbird L17/Siggie}} 20:53, 8 Oct 2005 (UTC)

Specifically, the Featured Article of the Week and the HSR.com updates sections are broken, somewhat.

:This page already exists [http://www.hrwiki.org/index.php/HRWiki_talk:Upgrade_to_MediaWiki_1.5 here]. Furthermore, the reason for many of the "broken" templates and links is that they incorporate the subfolder "new" after the .org extension. In other words, [http://www.hrwiki.org/new/index.php?title=Template:whatsnew Template:whatsnew] does not seem correct; instead, it should be http://www.hrwiki.org/index.php?title=Template:whatsnew {{User:The Paper/sig}} 08:58, 9 October 2005 (MDT)

:::When no one was looking late last night, I did a complete dry run and everything worked as expected.  It didn't take more than a few hours, and I think I'll be able to shave a few minutes off that because of some of the prepping I've been doing.  I expect that everything will be done by Monday barring anything drastic happening.  Who knows, I could have a dozen ninjas bust in through my window and I'd have to fight them off instead.[[User:Tom|<nowiki></nowiki>]]  --  [[User:Tom|Tom]] 21:01, 8 Oct 2005 (UTC)

While I am searching the wiki some times tho hrwiki logo in the top-left corner of the screen turns to the mediawiki flower logo with a message saying: "set #wgLogo to the URL parh to your own logo image".  Is the hrwiki logo not set up properly?

Steps to reupload image:
+
-
#Find broken image
+
-
#Go to image description page
+
-
#Click on direct image link.  In the example to the right, this is "<span style="color:blue;"><u>ZipZap_OldSchool.png</u></span>".
+
-
#Save this image to your computer.
+
-
#Click on the "Upload a new version of this file" link on the image description page.
+
-
#Browse to the location that you saved the image and re-upload the file, making sure to click the "Save file" button when the upload warning appears.</blockquote>

::It's not a client-side problem. The scripts for the TOC link here are broken on so many levels I don't know where to begin...
+
-
::*The pages have the script<pre>if (window.showTocToggle) { var tocShowText = "show"; var tocHideText = "hide"; showTocToggle(); }</pre>and [http://www.hrwiki.org/skins/common/wikibits.js this] has the function<pre>function showTocToggle(show, hide) {</pre> - it's not passing the parameters correctly to the function.
+
-
::*The showTocToggle function uses document.write() - in the age of DOM this is almost a capital offence for a site that tries to be standards compliant.
+
-
::*The showTocToggle function checks that the DOM functions exist and bails out of they don't. This makes the previous point even worse because it shows the writer knew about DOM. But then it fails to use them at all in the script.
+
-
::However the corresponding [http://fanstuff.hrwiki.org/skins/common/wikibits.js fanstuff scripts] work properly - perhaps you could just copy the function over? {{User:Phlip/sig}} 17:17, 9 October 2005 (UTC)

I think I've pinpointed a source to one of the problem: everything that begins with a lowercase letter is being sent to a version with a capital letter. So, for example, the email 'pom pom' redirects to 'Pom pom' (which is his character page. It even affects users (which may be why some people can't log in). I'm sure you've noticed this yourself, but I thought I'd point it out anyway. Just to help. --[[User:DorianGray|DorianGray]]

I unwatched it, and the message went away. Any significance of the red bordered message at all? {{User:Thunderbird L17/Siggie}} 22:39, 15 October 2005 (UTC)

:It's meant to show you if an article has been changed since the last time you visited it. I think it's a part of the [[wikipedia:m:Enotif|Enotif]] extension to MediaWiki, as it doesn't appear on Wikipedia. I don't really know a lot about that extension, but I think that's one of its features. --[[User:Pidgeot|Pidgeot]] <small>[[User_talk:Pidgeot|(t)]] [[Special:Contributions/Pidgeot|(c)]] [[Special:Emailuser/Pidgeot|(e)]]</small> 23:59, 15 October 2005 (UTC)

::You're seeing the [[MediaWiki:Updatedmarker]].  As far as I know, what you've described is exactly what is supposed to happen.  This feature came standard with MediaWiki 1.5.0 and simply put: the page has changed since your last visit.[[User:Tom|<nowiki></nowiki>]]  --  [[User:Tom|Tom]] 02:08, 16 October 2005 (UTC)

:Isaac, you may want to try manually clicking on the "unwatch" button on your user talk page. For some reason, our watchlists were not backward compatible, meaning that the system might tell you that you don't have any pages on your watchlist, even though you still do. {{User:The Paper/sig}} 02:38, 14 October 2005 (UTC)

Is it possible to fix this without the workaround? I like having my talk page on my watchlist. It's frustrating to have to unwatch it each time I get a new message. Speaking of this, it now seems impossible to add my talk page to my watchlist. I click "watch," but nothing changes. (Speaking of watchlists, regular talk pages have become temporarily separated from their article pages. If I want to reestablish the connection between the two, I have to manually unwatch and then re-watch the article.) &mdash; [[User:It's dot com|It's dot com]] 13:33, 11 October 2005 (UTC)

<s>Argh! The same thing is happening to me! I can't remove my talk page from my watchlist because it says that I have no items on my watchlist. Here's something that's driving me mad. When you watch your talkpage, the new message sitemessage won't go away, right? So I unwatch it. The thing is, everytime I get a new message, it starts watching it again by itself. I looked, but it didn't seem like this problem was addressed here. Any suggestions? {{User:Thunderbird L17/Siggie}} 22:15, 17 October 2005 (UTC)

:It looks like the way the talk page is added to the watchlist has been changed. First of all, you no longer can manually add it to your watchlist. If someone sends you a message, your talk page is automatically watched. When you check your talk page, it is automatically unwatched (now that the bug above has been fixed). I don't know whether this is a separate bug or an intentional new feature. &mdash; [[User:It's dot com|It's dot com]] 01:55, 10 December 2005 (UTC)

== Edit conflict ==

Obviously, the mechanism for determining whether there's an edit conflict has been enhanced to that if different sections are modified at the same time, a conflict doesn't necessarily occur. Is there some page somewhere that details the new functionality? In spite of it, however, I was still able to accidentally revert some changes with [http://www.hrwiki.org/index.php?title=Teen_Girl_Squad_Issue_10&diff=172151&oldid=172150 this edit] (the hidden comment) and had to fix it [http://www.hrwiki.org/index.php?title=Teen_Girl_Squad_Issue_10&diff=next&oldid=172154 here]. &mdash; [[User:It's dot com|It's dot com]] 21:38, 10 October 2005 (UTC)

:What should happen is that it detects whether the section you were editing has changed. If not, it merges your changes into the article, regardless of any other edits.
+
-
:That said, I'm not sure why you had that happen to you, unless you had an edit conflict PRIOR to that and then copy/pasted your version to overwrite the other one. I've yet to see such a thing happen on Wikipedia. --[[User:Pidgeot|Pidgeot]] <small>[[User_talk:Pidgeot|(t)]] [[Special:Contributions/Pidgeot|(c)]] [[Special:Emailuser/Pidgeot|(e)]]</small> 23:43, 10 October 2005 (UTC)

::Yeah, it's the [[MetaWikipedia:Help:Edit conflict]] technology.  I think your situation might have something to do with your [http://www.hrwiki.org/index.php?title=Teen_Girl_Squad_Issue_10&diff=172150&oldid=172149 previous edit], which dealt with that very text.  Of course, I have no idea, but that's my best guess.[[User:Tom|<nowiki></nowiki>]]  --  [[User:Tom|Tom]] 02:14, 11 October 2005 (UTC)

Revision as of 22:43, 20 April 2007

All of the pages don't have the HRwiki logo. Like this one, for instance.

and the mainpage template is screwed up.

Specifically, the Featured Article of the Week and the HSR.com updates sections are broken, somewhat.

This page already exists here. Furthermore, the reason for many of the "broken" templates and links is that they incorporate the subfolder "new" after the .org extension. In other words, Template:whatsnew does not seem correct; instead, it should be http://www.hrwiki.org/index.php?title=Template:whatsnew —THE PAPER PREEEOW 08:58, 9 October 2005 (MDT)
