Strong Sad's Diet

"All he ever wanted was to eat his grody ethnic food in peace."

Strong Sad has a complicated relationship to food. He has a preference for strange foods, including ethnic foods, and has many dietary restrictions. Strong Sad is also prone to overeating and receives many insults regarding his weight.

Appearances

• The House That Gave Sucky Treats — Strong Sad says he used to eat baking chocolate when there was no chocolate in the house. He also says he used to eat colored chalk, which made him sick for a year.
• Strong Bad is in Jail Cartoon — Strong Sad closes his letter to Strong Bad in jail saying that he and Marzipan have a baklava in the oven. Marzipan appears later offering the baklava to everyone.
• Email marzipan — Strong Sad sends an instant message to Strong Bad asking if Strong Bad believed he would fall for "vinegar toast".
• Weclome Back — Strong Sad spends his summer vacation at Gluten Camp, where he learns about the oft-misunderstood plant protein.
• Strong Sad's Lament —
  • Entry "From out of the darkness" — Strong Sad freaks out and locks himself in the pantry, revealing his secrets to Fruit Roll-Ups and economy-sized cans of Heinz ketchup. Three months passed and Strong Sad gained 45 pounds.
  • Entry "Post-it on my face" — Upset at Strong Bad's latest prank, Strong Sad fixes himself a cup of tea and tries to avoid Strong Bad for the rest of the day.
  • Entry "Weird Time" — Strong Sad gets an invitation form Homsar telling him to bring chips, because dips will be provided. He states that the previous time he went to one of Homsar's parties, there was nothing to eat but chips, mustard and gravy.
  • Entry "Dinner for One" — Strong Sad grills zucchini on a George Foreman grill outdoors next to the trash cans. He writes that he always says "Food should be consumed in the most depressing way possible."
  • Entry "A Curious Email" — Strong Sad receives an email with an image of a Hopi dream catcher, which he thinks resembles the way he looks when he thinks too hard about dairy.
  • Entry "Working For the Weak-End?" — Strong Sad posts about his fondness for lukewarm water and provides the recipe.
• Email 2 years — As part of Strong Bad's hypothetical future for Strong Badia, Strong Bad imagines that Strong Sad will no longer like food.
• Email caffeine — Strong Bad slips coffee powder into Strong Sad's orange juice for a science experiment. Strong Sad is highly sensitive to caffeine and becomes hyperactive.
• Email replacement — As part of Strong Bad's tests for an email successor, Strong Sad's first reaction to finding Strong Sad on the couch watching TV is to make him some hummus.
• Email best thing — Strong Bad relates that it was very early on Saturday morning, and yet Strong Sad was already awake and eating brown sugar straight from the box.
• Email narrator — Strong Sad eats a Rogan Josh pot pie. Strong Bad calls it grody.
• Email fan club — Strong Bad writes that an entire bag of Twizzlers fell out of Strong Sad's mouth. Strong Sad says in turn that he's not allowed to have Twizzlers.
• Somber Vacation — Strong Sad relates that his favorite beach beverage is scalding black coffee with beach sand on the rim. The bartender calls this a "Sucks on the Beach".
• Email looking old — Strong Sad appears to be eating a meal consisting of peas and corn lined up in a pattern in the center of a plate.
• Marzipan's Answering Machine Version 14.2 — Strong Sad's plan for an April Fools Day prank is to make everyone cinnamon-apple crisp, but tell them it is a ginger-apple crumble.
• Kid Speedy — Strong Sad is one of the runners featured in the game, where he must collect vegetables in order to gain speed and not place last in each race. Junk food will slow him down.
• Homestar Ruiner — Strong Bad attempts to lure Strong Sad out of his room with the promise of his favorite food, but Strong Sad doesn't believe in favoring one food over another. He also reminds Strong Bad that he's not allowed to eat peanuts.
• Strong Badia the Free — Strong Sad claims that Bleak House is a country rich in tradition, and low in saturated fat. He also replies to claims that he should have gotten more pretend fiber in his diet by saying that pretend fiber gives him real tapeworms.
• Baddest of the Bands —
  • Strong Bad is impressed that Strong Sad keeps the bathroom sink clean enough to eat out of, because he often forces Strong Sad to eat out of it.
  • Marzipan is miffed that Strong Sad is hanging around her house during band practice, believing that Strong Sad is using his cover as an aspiring music journalist to raid her kitchen and eat all her bran muffins.
• Quote of the Week (5 Mar 2009) — Strong Sad believes that "bulgarless bulgar" is bad for his diet, and asks how much xanthan gum a fella can take.
• Page Load Error — Strong Sad urges the viewer not to touch his Sun Chips, because he packed them special.
• Email hremail3184 — Strong Sad expresses desire to eat a Saag Paneer Pop-Tart.
• Marzipan's Answering Machine Version 17.2 — Strong Sad invites Marzipan over to the Wilted Salad Festival that he is hosting.
• Characters from Yonder Website — Strong Sad finds most of the rest of the cast lying in a stupor after drinking expired Smarty Juice. Reading the disclaimer that it causes drowsiness, euphoria and soothing children's programming, he decides that it sounds fine and drinks it.

  • Tweet Aug 9 2017 — Strong Sad features in a commercial for the Fluffy Puff Marshmallows Nibbles So Near Medicated Patch.
  • Tweet Dec 20 2017 — In a response to a video posted by Arby's, Strong Bad asks if the item featured is a fried chicken tikka masala sandwich, and if it was, then Strong Sad will take 12.
  • Tweet (Jan 28 2018) — As the baseball mascot "The Human Infield Fly Rule", Strong Sad's routine would include dousing unsuspecting fans' hot dogs with his "enzyme" before inhaling them two at a time.
  • Tweet Aug 23 2018 — Strong Bad posts a picture of a meringue that he says looks exactly like Strong Sad's head after a bad nutritional yeast reaction.

Strong Sad Being Called Fat

• Yearbook Character Page — The description on Strong Sad's page reads "Strong Sad is a depressing lump.

A fat, gray, elephant-footed depressing lump."

• Strong Libs — The third of the Strong Sad Libs is called "A Boy Named Fat Kid".
  • In Search of the Yellow Dello New Version — Strong Sad puts the Yello Dello to sleep relating stories about a "little gray fat kid".
  • In Search of the Yello Dello Commentary — Strong Bad marvels at how Homestar and Pom Pom manage to get Strong Sad's fat, ugly butt to the top of the mountain. Homestar assures there were people hidden underneath supporting them.
• Fan Costumes '06 — Strong Bad remarks that Strong Sad has lost a lot of weight when seeing a Strong Sad costume.
• Email secret recipes — Hidden on Strong Bad's Lappy, he has typed the words "I bet freakin' Strong Sad is plain couth. I wouldn't put that past him. Not that you could put anything past that guy. Y'know on account of he's so fat."
• Email rampage — Strong Sad asks The Cheat to drop some beats. Strong Bad amends this to "fat beats".
• Marzipan's Answering Machine Version 10.2 — Strong Sad agrees that Strong Bad is right; he is a waste of space. Strong Bad says that Strong Sad is a waste of FAT space.
• Marzipan's Answering Machine Version 16.2 — Strong Sad re-records Marzipan's outgoing message. Bubs confuses Strong Sad's voice, calling it "fat, depressing and Allan Poe".
• 8-Bit Is Enough — Strong Bad deflects criticism from Strong Sad by saying that this is no time to be pointing fat, doughy fingers.
• The Homestar Runner Gets Something Stuck In His Craw — During the narration, Strong Bad refers to Strong Sad as "some fat girl".
